***Savvy*** "b***h, who do you think you are, dismissing me like that!" His hot breath fanned against my face. I suck in a breath, taking a step back closer to my truck. Im not afraid of him, but he is about to have a little surprise in about a minute if he does not back up. "I asked you a question. What you stuipd or something?" What is this guy's deal? Did his mother not teach him how to properly talk to people? I hear the door open, and footsteps approach us. I see out of the corner of my eye that three others have joined around us. "Look here, young man, if you can not speak to someone properly and with manners, then Im not going to bother myself with an answer. So if you wouldn't mind leaving me alone and letting me go on about my evening." "I will talk to you any way I want to, you are nothing Im a part of the Rambling Bastards. You will show me respect." His finger is now in my face. I slipped my hand to the back of my waistband, my finger curling around the handle of my pistol. I hear a low growl coming from my truck. I know it's Blue, and he is just waiting. Paul suddenly is next to me. "I think you four need to leave. This woman did nothing to you, and you are out here in her face. You are men, why are you picking on a woman?" The four of them look at Paul. One reaches out. "Come on, man its not worth it, you dont want to get another mark cause of this, you wont get your patch then." He rips his arm from the other guy, "No way she bumped into me and then disrespected me. Im not letting that one go," "Paul, could you do me a favor?" I asked him without looking at him. "Um, Savvy?" I can hear it in his voice; he isn't sure what to say. "I need you to move back, please." "I dont know, Savvy, maybe I should call the police." Paul is an older man prolly in his early sixties, and he is out here trying to defend me against some dumbass punk kids, and that's what they are, well atleast the one who is yelling at me. My hand is still gripping my pistol tightly. Im ready in case I have to use it. Stephen made sure I could use it. The one laughs, "Police are you stuipd. We are above the cops, old man." "Dude, chill your gonna get out asses in a ringer with the brothers." Another one stepped up, Another growl, but this one was louder, making them look up over my head, "What the hell was that?" One of them asked, I only smile. "Man, I do not like that smile.. Come on." He pulls at the one in front. But he only shugs him off, "Im not afraid of no goddam god, or of some stupid ass woman who does not know her place." He reaches to grab me, but I duck, whistling. I pull my gun from behind me as Blue takes the guy right in the chest, taking him to the ground. I point my gun at the others; their hands fly up and out. "Whoa" Grunting comes from the ground. Glancing down, Blue has the man's arm as he jerks him about, keeping him on the ground. I move my pistol to the man on the ground, whistling for Blue to let go, which he does. He moves to stand behind me. The guy pulls his arm to his chest, holding it as it is bleeding. "Now, I think it's time you boys pack up and leave. Maybe next time, think before you act." The man on the ground spits at me. "b***h," but he rolls back when Blue growls, snapping at him. "How about you boys pick your friend up and be on your way. Hmmm" They nod, reaching down, hauling the man to his feet, shoving him towards the bikes, then climb on, peeling out of the parking lot. Tucking my pistol back into its holder, I open the door for Blue to jump in, shutting the door, turning to face Paul, who has a shocked look on his face. "Well now, Ms Savvy, I must say I have never seen anything like that," I smile. "What didnt think little ole me could fend them off?" My voice was light. "I didnt know what to expect, but then Blue was flying into that man, and you whipped out a gun, I never knew you carried all the times you came in here," Chuckling a bit. "Yeah, it somethign Stephen made me learn, he always carried," Paul's face softens at my husband's name. "Im sorry for what happened to him, it's the same, he was a good man." I choke back a lump in my throat. I glance at the pump, "Crap, let me reset the pump, then you can get out of here and rest." He pats my shoulder, hurrying back into the store. I move around the truck, opening the gas cap, and I grab the nozzle. I wave at Paul as he stands looking out the store window. I drive down the road to the one hotel, going in, I pay for a week at the hotel, grab my bags, and Blue, we make our way to the room. Once Im in the rush of the day and all that happened at the gas station weighs on me. I slump on the bed, covering my face with my hands. I beak, a low sob leaves me. My life is a mess its feels like it is falling apart. How can I go from having it all to having nothing and losing it all? My husband, my home, my everything. "I think about calling Hexley, but decided against it. I do not want to weigh him down with this; it's not his place to take care of me or worry for me. He has to focus on his life and his career. I know he will come home if he finds out I sold the house and moved out. He is his father's son, and he will want to step up, and I cant let him do that. He has worked so hard to get to where he is now, I cant let him throw that away. At moments like this, I wish Stephen were still here. I lay there crying till I fell asleep. I woke with dry rubber-feeling eyes and cotton mouth. Sitting up, Blue whines, and I know he needs to go out. Slipping on some shoes, I walk him out, letting him do his thing, and grab the small paper from the front area. Maybe some jobs will be in there. Going back to the room, I shower and change cause i fell asleep in my clothes. Once I felt somewhat fresh, I looked through the paper, spotting a few different places hiring. But then I see one for housekeeping at the local MC. AS I read over the ad, it said it came with room and board, along with all meals. That would be good if I could get that, A place to stay and work all in one, just what I need. Glancing at the clock, it read eleven am. Good time as any. Grabbing up the paper with Blue on my heels, I head out to my truck. I wanted to get there early and try to land this. I put the address in the GPS, following it pulled up to a large gate that was closed. Checking the time, I see it was a little after twelve. A man stepped out of a small hut. "Can I help you?" He asked as he stepped closer to the truck, but stepped back when Blue growled, "Yeah, I came about the job offer." I hold up the paper, showing it to him. "One sec," He pulls out his phone, texting. He nodded when his phone went off. "Go on through and park in the front by the brown doors. Someone will take you to the Prez." He stepped back, sliding the gate open, letting me through. I do not know a lot about the MC, but I know enough. Like that, the youngest last night was a Prospect, someone who was trying to get patched in. They do all the dirty work and are nothing more than errand boys to prove themselves. "Would you like to find out?"
