When Cai's body went limp in my arms, I swore to the Moon Goddess that I will make Marcus pay. I will make him suffer until he begs me for his death. That's what he will get from laying his hands on my precious mate. Then another rage of anger emerges from my core when I saw the "X" mark carved on Cai's neck, which was carved directly on top of my claiming mark.
I scooped up Cailean into bridal style and carried her to the car. Her head is resting against my chest, and the expression on her face shows that she is at peace.
