Part 3

1605 Words
It all started with a stupid flyer. Pink was minding her own business when she came across a promotional flyer for the club. She asked Alice, her only non-vampire friend currently housing her, to tag along. But sadly, Alice chose her boring boss's work dinner over clubbing. Go figure. Pink was determined to find this Alpha who left the imprint and made her life miserable, even if it meant going to the club alone and sticking out. If her parents came to know about the lengths she is going, they would collapse. She can already picture her mother's dramatic gasp and fall onto the nearest surface. Then her mother wonders where Pink gets her flare for drama. The vampire had no concrete plan when she left her hometown, only that the Alpha who left the mark shall pay for his sin. Starting by searching in the most famous club felt like a brilliant idea at that time. It was early morning, and she was reading the newspaper and trying to keep up with the latest news. Back to the present, Pink let out a shaky breath, toes curling. The Alpha in front of her was handsome in an austere way, with his navy blue suit tailored to his physique and thick brown hair slicked back. From the looks of it, Pink could figure out that he came from money. Old money. The kind that could buy anything and everything and still last for another generation or two. He carried himself with such poise and grace, an aura of self-assurance around him like anything in the world might be his with a snap of his fingers. It left her with an unsettling feeling. She was familiar with those kinds of people, having been born into a family of the same mentality. There's something about how he stood in front of her, tall and proud, eyes dark and hungry, pinning the vampire in one place. It should make her uncomfortable; she should tell the man to f**k off and leave her alone. Especially a werewolf. Those mutts are nothing but trouble. Pink thought to herself. The very reason why she's ended up in an unknown territory trying to find the person behind all her problems. The smirk on the man's face made her heart thud in her chest, and she was astounded at the visceral reaction. What was happening to her? Why was her body betrayed? Heat prickled at her cheeks, and no words left her mouth. Pink's plan was simple. Search the area, sniff for the werewolf responsible for her despair and kill him. Not that she had any idea how to look for him. It happened so long ago she had no traces of his scent anymore. Instead, the vampire was met with this beautiful man. She held her breath. There's a palpable tension within the air that she swore she could feel it, can almost taste it, ever so heady on her tongue that it's almost suffocating. The confidence that oozed out of the Alpha would make anyone feel daunted and out of place. Yet she can see the flaws in his resolve, can recognise the telltale signs of something else, of where his woven image of confidence fractured and gave way to another unknown emotion. One second she was blinking, and the other, the vampire found herself going against all her instinct. In her defence, she hadn't meant to pounce on him per se. No. The vampire intended to break that perfect facade. It irked her to no end. He's not better than her. With her fingers tugging on the strands of his hair, she sunk her teeth into the flesh. Sharp and vicious. Pink heard a low grunt, his body staggering like a train screeching in its tracks. All low-pitches and guttural. Her senses went into overdrive, eyes rolling back as the warm liquid rushed and touched her parted lips. Blood flowed freely over his collar, like a ruby river flowing by. The taste of iron enveloped her as she kept licking the blood from his vein, her arm voluntarily digging into his side, nails breaking through his blazer. Hissing, Pink nipped at the soft, now reddish skin, laving her tongue over the indents. He tasted spicy, intense hints of his natural sweat and body scent, making her eyes roll. The vampire heard a low thing followed by a strong arm clutching at her side, his hand fingers digging through her shirt, forcibly tugging her away. She whined at the loss of heat, the touch, her mouth rimmed in red. The daze surrounding her vanished in seconds, making her hyper-aware of the imposing Alpha. The vampire poked out a tongue before lapping at the blood she could reach, toes curling. Her hands clasped into fists, and her eyes beckoned for more. What was wrong with her? Pink never had a problem keeping her urges at bay. For moon's sake, that's vampire class day one lesson. Why was his blood affecting her so much? A haze settled over her eyes, her cheeks flushed, and her belly tightened. She's never quite felt it like this. Never felt a sea of pleasure amidst the raw ache. "You f*****g bit me?!" The Alpha growled, one of his hands clutching at his neck as he made a face. His voice was full of knife-edged ivories, all splinted and spiked. Despite that, he looked warm under the glow of the street lights, his sharp features softening as shadows blur and flicker on his face. "You think?" She asked, innocently blinking her eyes at him. "How dare you—" The vampire tried not to move from her place as the Alpha hissed, his face morphing from pain to scowl. Frankly, she preferred the first one; there was something about the way his jaw ticked, nose flared slightly, and brows knitted together. "Take another step, and I will do more than bite, mutthead. Do not mess with me!" She raised her voice, hoping it concealed the quiver in her tone. Her knees were close to giving up, a heady feeling taking over. Before he could reply, the vampire turned her back on him. A dangerous move, a stupid, risky move, but she had to get out of there. The werewolf didn't move to stop her, so she ran, eyes closed. Pink mentally patted her back, eyes burning with tears, lungs squeezing as she closed the gap to the nearest alley. Her breathing turned loud, and white dots appeared before her eyes. She heard a crack in her ankle and landed on her butt, back awkwardly pressed to the wall. On the verge of consciousness, Pink grabbed her phone and pressed the emergency dial icon. "I-I think I am drugged." *** It's bright. The vampire squinted her eyes at the sunlight making its way into his room through the white blinds. A groan escaped her throat; a hand immediately hovered over her eyes. There was a pounding, the ache from the sinus to the back of her head. She sat up and blinked at the dimly lit room. Her eyes fall on the crumpled sheet beside her, a sigh of relief escaping her. Pink recognised those sheets, the design and pattern from anywhere. It's the first thing her mother gave her when she turned sixteen, a hand-woven sheet to keep her warm. The vampire carried it from her hometown. Alice didn't mind the boho pattern on the sheets, mainly because it matched the aesthetics of her apartment. Pink blinked again twice and decided to get up from the bed. She could feel a slight twinge of pain in her back, noticing she was still wearing clothes from the night before. She walked to the door and pushed at it slowly. It's too quiet for her liking. Her nose scrunched as she picked on the smell of something burning. Pink quickly makes out white smoke as she rushes to the kitchen. Surprisingly, no one was there. Only a pan was soaked in the sink. The door was opened abruptly with a noise coming from a very familiar voice. "Oh, you woke up?" Alice was holding a take-out bag, a sheepish look on her face. "Sorry, I didn't mean to leave you alone, but I know you'll be hungry after you wake up." Alice Simmons had known her since second grade when the teacher made them sit together. She was the only non-vampire student in the school and frankly too bold and intimidating for the vampires. Her father got a transfer in a year, unable to settle in a town full of blood thirsty vampires. Pink was the only one Alice kept in touch with through letters and hour-long phone calls. Pink swallowed, cringing at her dry throat. "How did I get here?" Her friend walked past her, pulling a plate from the dishwasher and neatly placing the breakfast in there. She turned over her shoulder, "I tracked your phone after the call." "You scared the daylights out of me last night, Pink. What happened?" Pink plopped on the nearest chair, trying to recall the events that led to her sudden collapse. "I don't know...I...This never happened before." "Maybe you had too much to drink." "No, it's not that..." A sudden realisation dawned on her face. "It's because of his blood." "Huh? What are you talking about?” "Last night…I met a guy, an Alpha. He’s so smug so I bit him and everything went downhill after that..." Pink shook her head. "f**k, do you know what it means Alice!” "No..." Alice frowned. "What now?" "I need to find him." ***
