CHAPTER 2: Hunters

1743 Words
Lily Collins as Kiara Grantt ✒✒✒ Riverpond High School had changed a lot since I left, or at least the atmosphere. The usual teenagers freely roaming around are all too afraid to even go out of their classrooms, there were faces of missing teenage girls pinned on the bulletin board as I passed by the hallway. I felt a wave of guilt upon looking at them, knowing somehow I contributes on their death. There was no confirmation that these students were officially dead because no body has been found yet, I don't know where Dylan disposed them since he never let me go with him every time he's getting rid of the corpse. "Kiara?" I turned around to find Megan holding a paper. "Hi," "Glad you're back. Personally, I don't believe those rumours about you and Mr. Matthews. I knew it, you're just related to him or something... well you two have some similarities though," Megan smiled and pinned the paper beside the others. My heart leapt a beat but not actually surprise to see Jenner's photo under the bold-capital 'MISSING' word. "Er, thanks," I politely said. "Mind if I leave you here? I have so many stuff to do, you know..." Megan is the president of student council so yeah, I gave her a faint nod before she went running away. I can't help feeling sorry for the rest of the girls here in Riverpond High School, they think that this is one of the safest place in the world when in fact the demon is just lurking around them. I looked around the campus, I watched a group of boys playing games on their p.s.p's under the tree. Bunch of girls eating silently on a marble table... they're all anxious, each of them seemed to talk without voice. Like they're somehow whispering words against me, they were throwing me sharp glares as if I am the criminal. The strong wind blew my face, why is it suddenly went cold? And then I heard voices... faint scream... they're calling my name... they are begging for their lives. "Kiara help me! Please help! I don't want to die Kiara, please tell him to let me go!" "My little brother is waiting for me at home, he's all alone. Kiara please help me to escape.." "Kiara!" "Kiara help me!" "Ahh stop! Just f*****g stop!" I threw my hands on my ears, clutching my head tight. "Kiara?!" then I felt someone shaking me on the shoulder. "Get off me! Don't you understand? I can't do anything! I cannot help you!" then I struggled off his grip. "Kiara it's me!" he grabbed my shoulder and forced me to face him. "Kiara it's me, It's Luke. Kiara open your eyes, please. I won't hurt you." Luke... Slowly, I managed to open my eyes. I stared at his face for a moment until I felt my breathing stabled. I heard the loud laughter from the group of boys under the tree, even the loud conversation of girls on the bench. And they were not even looking nor talking about me. "Is everything okay?" Luke asked, resting a fingers on my chin. "Y-yeah..." I stepped back, he put down his hand from my shoulder. Luke is my childhood friend and also Megan's boyfriend. We became distant to each other since the two started dating. I had a crush on Luke, and by seeing him again I guess I still have. "I've been calling you like ten times already," Luke chuckled as we settled down on a criss-crossed bench. "Here, take it." He hand me a can of soda and took a gulp on his own. "Sorry, kind of—" "Worried? Everyone is," Luke glanced at me once in a while. "I'm glad you re-enrolled. I also want to take this opportunity to personally apologize for abandoning you from the last few months. Megan and I... we've already split up right after you were kicked out," Luke explained, looking extremely sorry. "It's okay Luke... I understand," I give him a faint smile. But the fact was, I really hates him for what he did. Luke used to give me a ride home everyday. No missed. So when I was stuck in Dylan's house and finding someone to blame, he's the first one popping in my mind. Maybe if Megan doesn't became his girlfriend or maybe if he just stay close to me at least, then I won't end up being kidnapped of a mad man which I am locked up until now. It may sounds silly but I still felt imprisoned, like there was a rope tied around my neck and the end of it was in Dylan's hand. "Er... thanks. I hope we can be friends again?" I nodded my head in response, "Sure." I looked at him and realized that he's wearing maroon cardigan that has letter 'H' knitted on its left chest, maroon cap that also have letter 'H' printed in yellow, and there is a foot long bat hanging on the side of his belt. "What's with the outfit?" "Hunters, I created the group myself and we're patrolling night and day to hunt the person behind the missing girls," Luke proudly said. "Just started today so don't you dare tease me for not catching that moron yet," "Are you crazy?!" I hissed as I glanced to my left, then to my right. Thanks God, Dylan isn't around. "Crazy who's dealing with a psycho, think it's great combination." Is he referring to me? Oh screw that, he's only putting his life in danger. "Listen to every word I will say, you nimrod. Stop whatever you're up to, do not go chasing for your own death for goodness sake, Luke!" I maintained to lower my voice as much as possible. Luke's eyebrows furrowed, then about four more boys approach us. All were wearing the same rubbish Luke's wearing. "Oh here they are, see you later Kiara! Oh and mind if you tell Mr. Matthews our warmest thanks for giving us this great idea?" then they marched away. I was left with my mouth hanging open, I pressed my hand over my forehead. I don't know if I could ever take it if Dylan did something to Luke or to Melody, this is beyond my expectations. Dylan is getting worse in playing people around. I got my schedule from the registrar's office and goes to my first class. Guess what, Biology with non-other than Professor Dylan Matthews. I was hesitating whether to attend his class since I'm already late and of course I might passed out of nervousness if I commit mistakes in front of him. With my knees trembling, I managed to step in front of the door and greets with all the effort I could put to stable my voice, "G-good morning sir, sorry I'm late." My eyes were fixed on the floor. "Acceptable Miss Grantt for this is your first day come back to school," came his cold-authoritative voice. "Please occupy the seat near Miss Adams." Finally I met his gaze, I felt a brush of relief upon seeing his smile. Dylan has three kinds of smile which I significantly knows the meaning behind. First is when one corner of his lips curled up and the smile reaches his eyes, that's a sign that he's still calm and you can still breathe your ass out. Second is when his smile makes his white even teeth appeared, that kind of smile that will make you feel something hot between your thighs... that seductive one, sign that he's marking you as an option for his next victim for his next murder. Lastly, the smile that only last for two seconds and his cheeks began blushing as if he likes you... yes he does. He likes to slit your throat open and feel your blood on his skin at that very moment, sign that he's starving to kill you and he won't miss an opportunity to do so start running for your pathetic life. "So as I was saying before our dear Miss Grantt interrupts, an average aged man releases 100 millions of sperm cells when he ejaculates, and only takes one sperm to make a woman pregnant," he said as he pointed on the male s****l organ photograph on the white screen. Kelly Adams giggled beside me and so the other girls near her. "It's the reason why some people chose to swallow sperms, you wouldn't go wasting that 100 millions sperm when you don't want to get your girl pregnant. Especially when the guy's hot like your Biology teacher," she said while swirling the strand of her hair with the tip of her pen. "A very lovely logic Miss Adams, remind me to add plus five on your quiz," or add points on Kelly's probability percentage to be his next target? I thought. After an hour the bell finally rang, I seized my bag pack and made sure to join the crowd of students hurrying outside. Dylan gave me a faint smile and a thumbs up as I exited the room. I was really amazed on how he behave back there, very professional and open-minded. I have a weird ability to sense when someone is lying but it doesn't work to him, obviously. Dylan and I had a deal that I should be the one to go home first so that people won't suspect us again. Anyway, I'm still working in the convenient store and usually goes home at night so I doubt if people could ever see us going in the same house, not unless someone stalk us. "Hey, fancies a ride home?" I was unlocking the chain of my bike when Luke stopped his pastel blue jeep beside me. "N-no thanks, I prefer this... you know, exercise." I suddenly came up with the excuse. "Come on Kiara, are you still living with your Aunt? I already missed her soufflé," Luke insisted. I looked at the opposite building to find Dylan staring at us. My heart drummed inside my chest. "I-I really have to go. Luke please, let's talk some other time," before he could speak, I already ride on the bike and hits the pedal fast, heading straight to the store. ✒✒✒ I get the idea of Hunters from Teen Wolf so credit for them. This has nothing to do with the show just to make things clear. :)
