Ode To Life

What would we be without the tide Without to the waves rippling with arms open wide What would we become without fresh morning light Without the sun and moon to guide the day or night Where would we be without the sweet rain That washes away defilements, caused by human pain? Would we not long to hear the song of the birds That sings the melodies of the ever turning world? What about the stars that decorate the dark Or the dew of the ground that chills our heart? If not for the air that we continuously breathe Or the gentle rocking of the falling leaves We could not survive the fate we await. That of extinction, to which would be great. Yet we continue to ruin, to a***e our power. We believe that we stand as strong as towers. We tower so high that we become untouched. We think that we think, that we are so much. If only we knew the truth we befall That we are nothing, nothing at all. Yet we go on, thinking the way we are taught. That we are so much, when we are not. Instead of the sun, we follow the lamp. Instead of field, we take the man-made ramp. Instead of the stars, we look at the map. We look at the lies, instead of the facts. We are blind, yet we see what we want. Which is to be told sweet untruths and left in the dark. Even to each other we have been unkind. Never finding opportunities to love, only what is "mine". This is the thing that is found. This is what will stop the world...from going round.
