*Chapter 6*
The boardroom was silent.
Keith stared at the empty chair where Chloe sat five minutes ago. His tie was loose. Sweat on his collar.
“Ms. Stone,” Director Bennett said. “You said you had proof.”
Aria smiled. Not the old Aria. This one didn’t shake.
She pulled a USB from her red blazer. “Exhibit D.”
She plugged it into the screen on the wall. Bank statements. Wire transfers. 2.4 billion moving from Aurelia Ventures to an offshore account three days before the crash.
Sender: Keith Morgan.
Receiver: Chloe Reyes.
Memo: `insurance payout`
Whispers exploded.
“That’s fraud,” Bennett said. “That’s prison.”
Keith stood up. “This is fake. She’s crazy. She died—”
“I’m right here,” Aria cut him off. Voice calm. “And I’m the majority shareholder. Per section 4.2 of the company charter, I’m freezing all executive accounts effective immediately.”
She looked straight at him.
“Starting with yours, Keith.”
His phone buzzed. Then again. And again.
`Account Locked`
`Insufficient Funds`
`Card Declined`
The color drained from his face.
Aria closed the folder. “Security will escort you out. You’re no longer VP. You’re nothing.”
She walked to the window. 100 days. Day 1.
Across town, Chloe was sitting in an interrogation room wondering why her burner phone was the only thing with her fingerprints on it.
