Sheryl: the wrong side of 35 and back home with her mother with little more than a bag and her tail between her legs.
Beatrice: Sheryl’s mother, a woman who doesn’t like to lose, and the last person you would like to live with-let alone ask for help.
Mr Rugby: the sort of man, that gives old folk a bad name.
Shifty: the owner of the Argyll, who liked to think his pub more than just a local boozer.
Martin: Sheryl’s ex, a man who always thinks the grass is greener on the other side.
Imogene: the reason why Martin is Sheryl’s ex.
Lindsey: Sheryl’s younger sister, and is the sort of sister you would rather live in another country than down the road.
George: A man of many pasts who not only stands up to Beatrice but, enjoys it!
Frances: Beatrice’s best pal. The sort of woman you never tell a secret to-unless you want the whole world to know.
Nefertiti: a belly dancing teacher who, according to her is the ‘one and only’.
Ardennes: the original belly dancing teacher of this saga. His hips defied gravity, and his lessons were not always about dancing.
Johnston: an American wrestler who is so handsome that even those who don’t like wrestling will watch him.
Steven: is the sort of man no one notices until they get to know him…
Mavis: Lochgilphead’s Post Mistress, a woman that can add, subtract and lick a stamp all at the same time and, while holding a conversation.
Chubby: is the local butcher, she runs her father’s butcher shop, her homemade sausages are legendary.
Sam: Beatrice’s cat but he likes to think he is Sheryl’s
Rodger: the love of Nefertiti’s life, and mentor.
Conway: A policeman who stayed in the police force way past his sell by date.
Harry: an organiser of events, with an eye for controversy and voluptuous women.
