CHAPTER 2

Damian’s Pov

It has been over one week since I last had coffee from my favourite café. I have been craving their coffee but am still too busy to go over there.

So I finally decided today to go grab some, I had to round up the proposal that I have spent days trying to craft out. It took me an extra hour to finish up and print.

Having rounded up that long job I took a deep breath, closed up my laptop, and began to stretch my body. Seeing my bones crack so much it dawned on me that I hadn’t had the time to go over to the gym for some workout in over two weeks.

“This is definitely unlike you Damian!”

I picked up the telephone and rang my assistant, or should I say, ex-assistant. Clinton recently decided to take up the offer of furthering his education to become a professor which he has always wanted to be but I pleaded with him to stay till I found a suitable replacement for him and we have been on that search for over two months because of my picky attitude and low tolerance for laziness.

Clinton immediately picked up “I need you in my office immediately!!” I said in my usual dominating voice. In a few minutes, he found his way into my office.

“I will be leaving for the café now though I will not be long, I will need you to send out a letter to our Japanese investor while I am gone. Let him know that I request to have a meeting with him by next week”

“Alright sir, would that be all?”

“Also send a letter to all the staff, informing them of the meeting which will be held by noon tomorrow. That would be all, close the door behind you” With that he left the office.

I stood up from my desk, picked up my phone, and made my way out of the office. I went over to the garage and got into my car, the driver immediately ignited it and took me to the café.

On getting there I made my way to the counter where I placed my order and paid for my coffee, on my way out I saw this dazzling beauty and our eyes met. She had rapture-blue eyes, her hair was midnight black and it flowed over her shoulders, she had a bubbly outlook.

Her Amazonia figure sat pretty well on her wafer-thin body, she had a decanter-shaped waist. She was so ravishing, I was struck by her beauty, she looked me in the eyes but then walked past me to the counter.

I could not explain what I felt at that moment, and I wasn’t interested in entertaining the thought of any woman so I quickly left the café and zoomed off with my car back to the office.

Once I arrived at my company I began to make my way back to my office with my assistant behind me, but on the way up to my office, I met 2 of my employees in the lobby discussing and laughing.

I immediately called their attention at the sight of me they trembled, I could see the shiver in their bodies and the stammering in their words as they replied and walked towards where I stood.

“What department do you belong to?

“S-sir uhm we-we customer care sir,” one of them said terrified while the other stood there mute like one whose mouth was glued together

“Oh, I see!” I commented in sarcasm

“That’s not enough job for you, right? I guess it is best if you use the door. Now go in, pack your personal belongings that you have in that office, and leave this building immediately. You are Fired!!”

At the sound of my statement, they both knelt and began to plead, but I gave deaf ears to them and began to walk towards the elevator. As I moved away, I overheard some of the employees call me mean and arrogant, but I acted like I didn’t hear them talk. I believe that’s my nickname in the company but I do not care, and as always would not tolerate any form of slacking or inefficiency from my employees.

When I got to my office, I sat on my desk and opened up my laptop to continue from where I left off.

That was when my assistant walked up to me and said “Mr Martinez, one more application was submitted 2 minutes ago, should I invite them for the interview?”

“Go ahead but do not forget to send me their CVs to review before the interview,” I said to him. He gave a nod and slated the interview for 8 am the next day.

It was 5 am when my alarm rang, I opened up my eyes at the sound of it. I rubbed my palm gently around my eyes, I stretched my body and pulled off the cover of my bed before crawling off the bed.

I made my way into the bathroom for my routine after which I dressed up and drove over to the office. I looked at my wristwatch and it was already 7 am.

I got into my office and did some subtle jobs and at exactly 8 am I started interviewing the applicants. But none of them had the qualifications I needed for my P.A. I was about to give up on finding a P. Today when my assistant came in and said “We have one last applicant”. At this point, I was hopeful that this applicant would pass the assessment because I did not have the time to hold another interview.

I heard my receptionist knock so I said “Come in”. While I was filling out a form she said “Good Morning Sir” so I asked her to sit.

I raised my head, and there she was, the dazzling beauty. I can’t believe this, she is right here.
