STEFAN’s POV.
I scoff as I hear my lawyer list out her conditions. The nerve of her to think I am going to allow her to do that. How dare she say she wanted half of everything I had?
“Is this some kind of joke?” I asked as I flung the papers towards him, “she wants all of this?”
“She insists on it, sir.” He replied and I couldn’t help but laugh. Maybe years of being married has made her think we are the same. “She insists on it, sir.” He replied and I couldn’t help but laugh. Maybe years of being married has made her think we are in the same boat.
Without saying anything to the lawyers, I picked up my phone which was on the table and dialed her number. The phone rang for a while before her voice filtered through.
“Hello.”
“You sure have some nerve, Athena.” I hissed, “how dare you talk about what you want? You want me to give you everything I have?”
“Why?” I could hear the sarcasm dripping from her voice, “you are the almighty Stefan Hallows. You should be able to afford everything I want.”
“I always knew you were a sly woman, Athena,” I continued. “Who would have thought?”
“Let me know the time and venue, I will surely show up to sign the papers.”
Before I could respond, she ended the call and I stood there for a moment, trying to comprehend what the heck just happened.
“What do we do now sir?” The lawyer asked.
I thought for a while. Athena didn’t come off as someone who was greedy and heading her speak now made me realize how much I didn’t know her. From the tone of her voice, she clearly was ready to drag this to the end of the world. Giving her what she wanted was not going to put a dent in the Hallow name but the thought of her being a gold digger annoyed me more.
“Let’s give her what she wants.” I finally tell him.
At that moment, the door to the study opens up and Gemini walks in. My eyes behold her and my face breaks into a smile. She is clad in a white gown that hugs her figure perfectly. The moment I see her, every thought of Athena vanishes from my mind.
“Hello, baby” she called out as she rounded the table to come sit on my thighs. The lawyer immediately packed the documents up.
“I will be on my way now sir.” He says and I nod.
“I will speak with you later.”
After he leaves, I return my attention to the woman in front of me and my face breaks into a much bigger smile. This is what I wanted. Someone who wouldn’t just be a house wife and take care of the pack. I wanted someone who could take care of me too and be the kind of wife I wanted. Athena was always looking to be in everybody’s good books and I am not looking for that.
“What did the lawyer say?” Gemini finally asks while stroking my beard.
“Athena wants half the property.”
“What?” Her forehead creases into a slight frown, “what the hell does that mean? She wants half the property for what?”
“Calm down princess.” I snake my hands around her waist, “it’s fine. If that’s what she wants to be able to sign the papers, I am more than willing to give it to her. She needs to know that I can do anything and everything to make sure you and I get married. She thinks I won’t agree to this so we can remain married.”
Gemini scoffs, “that bitch.” She hisses, “I didn’t know she was this cruel and full of herself. With each passing day, I hate her more and more.”
“Relax baby.” I press a kiss on her bare back, “you are the one I want and you are the only person important to me. Giving her half of what’s in my name wouldn’t move me. I mean, we both have a child coming on the way. This is the least I can do for them.”
Gemini doesn't say anything but the anger on her face remains evident.
“I will make sure she regrets ever asking for anything from you.” She hisses, “people like her need to be publicly humiliated before they understand the severity of things.”
I don’t reply. I only bury my face in the crook of her neck and sniff in her scent. No matter what I’m going through, being with her always makes me feel better. I would rather give Athena everything than lose Gem.
“Well.” She begins to speak again, “we have an appointment with the doctor in an hour. Came to pull you away from work.”
I look at my time. I have a meeting in about thirty minutes but that can wait. The years I couldn’t show the world how much Gem meant to me, I plan on doing all of that now.
I pick up my intercom and put a call across to my assistant.
“Sir.” Her voice comes through from the other end of the line.
“Cancel all of my meetings for today. I am going to the hospital with my fiancee.”
“But the investors from—
She is still talking when I cut her off.
“Do as I have said, Marie” I tell her, “the investors can wait.”
“Yes sir.”
After I end the call, we get ready to leave. What I didn’t expect was the fact that I would see Athena stepping out of the car, hand in hand with another man as my car pulled up in front of the hospital.
