The Pack

Viktor is the alpha of the River pack. He is tall with huge muscles that are rippling with every stride. He was walking towards me. He is the one that had bitten me, turning me into the wolf I am today. Although I've only been here a few weeks, Vik the alpha has taken me under his wing. Teaching everything I need to know about leading a pack and being an alpha. He said that one day I could be an alpha. He is training me to take over another pack. He is teaching me how to fight. How to make sure that no other packs try to take our territory. How to not run out of money. What is needed to run a pack. The wolf I need to be.

‘Benji, We need to talk’

‘Whats up Vik?’

‘I need a Luna, she will make the pack complete and stable. A Luna will makes our back stronger. Everyone benefits from the Luna. She is sent by the moon goddess gifting the pack with strength and pure wolf children. This is where you come in. I need a favour, I want something and I'm afraid you are the only person who can get it for me!’

‘Vik how am I going to get you a Luna. I am a new wolf. I don’t know any Luna’s?’

I would do anything for Vik, He feels like an older brother to me. A familiar face when I was turning all the time and didn't know what to do. He was there for me when I lost everything. He made my life have purpose. I didn't know what my purpose was until he bit me.

‘Your sister Valentine. I want her to be my Luna. She is strong and can lead, she will be like you, powerful, unstoppable. A huge wolf, with her genetics. She might even be bigger than me. We wont know. Ive been following her for a while, watching her from a distance. She is magnificent. She wont take any s**t from the others. She is what this pack needs, she will make us strong. Stronger than any pack in the world. She is what I need Benji. Can you persuade your sister to join us? To become a wolf? To become our Luna?’

I smiled when he said this. I missed my sister. I wanted to be with Val again but I was being selfish only thinking of myself. She wouldn't want to become a wolf, like me. A wave of fear flashed through my body. What if she doesn't want to see me? What if she rejects me as her brother? I thought to myself.

‘Vik of course I will help you. I want my sister here as much as you do. I miss her so much. The problem was how do I get her to join us. Val is very stubborn and wont take changing into a wolf lightly. She will need a lot of convincing.’

‘I have a plan, I have a mole in Blue River academy and has given me intel that your sister is being sent there. To broker peace with the other species. To mingle in and make friends with them. Once this is confirmed you will be attending the academy as well. It will also help you adjust to life as a wolf you can learn about the other species and learn combat techniques.’

‘Yes Vik, I loved school, I love learning new things. Are there any other wolves that could benefit from attending the academy?’

‘Yes we will go through and put together a group shortly. I need to confirm it all first. In the meantime we are late for training.’

We both exited the pack house which is a huge house where the alpha and the beta live. It is the centre of the pack. All the pack members come here to hang out or to meet. I have moved in here and have taken one of the guest bedrooms. I will either stay here or move into one of the houses within the territory. The pack territory is in Scotland and takes up most of it.

We ran into the woods changing mid air. Which I have to practice doing as it takes time to learn to do it safely. We ran through the woods jumping over fallen logs and boulders. We ran towards the mountain at the far north of out territory. Vik was showing me the whole territory tonight. He says it is important for an alpha to know every inch of his territory and to know what the smells are. It was going to be a long night.

‘We are going to the north of the territory first. Our territory covers the mountain. We will be going up it tonight.’

‘Up the mountain? How big is our territory?’

‘The territory covers just over 600 miles. From the very northern part to the most southern part. We are one of the biggest in Europe.’

‘600 miles. And we are covering that tonight?’

‘Yes it is nothing compared to what we can cover. We can run for days without stopping. Cover 1000’s of miles.’

Thinking about what he had just said we have covered around 100 miles since we have left the pack house we left around an hour and a half ago. That wasn't too long ago. We ran past trees, rivers, buildings all were a blur as we sped through small towns towards the northern part of our territory.

‘We are here.’

We stood at the base of the mountain. Looking up as the peak disappeared above the clouds. I could see a forest surrounding it. It smelled like nature. Like freshly cut grass.

‘We going up then or what?’ challenged Vik.

‘Race you’ Accepting the challenge as I ran off up the mountain.

Although I had a head start on Vik, he wasn't far behind me. Once we got to the top of the mountain it was very cold and the sun was just starting to set. We looked past our territory.

‘Benji, you see that river down there?’

‘Yes it is beautiful.’

‘Indeed it is. This is our northern border. On the other side of that river is the Ruin Pack. Their pack house is in an old castle, hence the name Ruin… We don’t get much trouble from them they are a lot smaller than us. Their alpha is rarely seen. His name is Franklin. I have met him a few times, he is an allusive creature. Apparently he was attacked a few months ago and was injured. But no one knows. Maybe one day that could be your pack! We could take over all the packs in Europe we could become the strongest. I want us to be the strongest pack we can be. If that involves you running packs beside me and working together. Then so be it.’

‘That sounds like a brilliant idea. I don’t want to jump ahead of myself just yet. I am still new at this.’

‘Right next stop we will rung along the border to what we call Death Valley.’

‘Death Valley? whys it called that?’

‘A few hundred years ago there was a massive fight and many wolves lost their lives there. Now it is where the rouge wolves like to hide. Rouge wolves are dangerous you need you watch your back. They don’t follow any of our rules. They are feral, wild. Never go there alone.’

Death Valley was 300 miles away. We ran the whole way along the border checking as we went to make sure that there were no strange scents. As we ran I could feel the wind running through my fur. Cooling my body down. We ran through a small abandoned town. We slowed as we passed through. taking in the derelict buildings and empty shops. This is what the word had come to.

We were nearly at Death Valley when Vik began to slow. He spoke through he mind link.

‘Benji, do you smell that?’

‘It’s a wolf, not one of ours I take it?’

‘No, not one of ours. Who has the guts to come onto my territory?’

‘Well lets go find out who it is.’

We both ran following the scent. It was very fresh scent meaning that we were not far behind. Up ahead we could hear a howl booming across our territory. The other wolf has slowed. We were catching up quickly.

‘Benji, You take one side. I will take the other.’

We pealed apart taking a wide berth to surround the intruder. We were catching up quickly we were nearly on them. Up ahead we could see a small brown wolf trotting along through the woods.

‘Leave him to me Benji, Watch how I handle this.’

I watched how he sped up and stopped dead ahead of the brown wolf. I disappeared into a nearby bush. Hiding from sight. The wolf not paying attention almost ran into Vik. Which took him slightly by surprise. How could you not see the huge black wolf stood in front of you.

‘Who are you?’ Vik growled at the smaller wolf speaking through the mind link.

‘M..my name is Ruby. My pack was attacked and I've been running ever since. Trying to find somewhere I felt safe.’ She lowered herself to the floor submitting to Viktor. Snapping the ties and sticks beneath her as she pushed herself harder into the ground. Her wolf was a dull brown colour. Clearly she wasn't eating well she was skinny and boney.

‘What pack were you in?’

‘I was in the Moonstone Pack.’ she replied quickly. Clearly she was nervous of what Viktor would do to her.

‘The Moonstone Pack, they are over 600 miles away from here. When did this happen?’

‘Yesterday morning, I haven't stopped running. I have nothing with me. I have lost everyone.’

I watched as Vik stood down becoming more friendly to Ruby. He growled at me, I snarled back at him causing her to look at me as I entered. I slunk out from behind the bush. This made Ruby scurry behind Vik. Hiding from the strange wolf that had now entered the scene.

‘Hi, I'm Benjamin, But please call me Benji.’ I said as sweet and innocently I could trying really hard to not be threatening.

‘Benji, I told you to watch how I handled this. Do you want to be an alpha one day?’

‘Sorry I'm still learning. Im a bitten wolf, only changed a few weeks ago.’

‘Its fine, My name is Ruby. Im a bitten wolf too. Been a wolf for 3 years now. I was bitten to be Luna of the Moonstone Pack but I'm too small apparently. So I was replaced.’ She replied nervously.

‘They bit you for you to be Luna and then decided that you weren't good enough? You are small but even small wolves can be threatening. You could do some serious damage if you trained.’ Vik questioned.

‘Yep. I became picked on and bullied. The lowest in the pack, weakest.’

‘Ruby will you please follow us back to the pack house. You can stay here as long as you need.’ Vik spoke in a soft voice.

‘I can help train you if you like? Learn not total s**t from anyone. Not be weak.’ Benji offered.

We all ran off into the dark woods back to the pack house. Ruby trailed behind unable to keep up with us at the speed we were going. I slowed down to match her speed.

‘Thank you Benji!’ she panted meaningfully.

‘Are you tired?’

‘I am exhausted. I don't think I can go on much longer.’

‘Do you want to change and ride on my back? We are over 200 miles away from the pack house.’

‘That would be great, Thank you !’

‘Vik, Hold on a second.’ I shouted up ahead. Through the mind link.

Ruby changed slowly. Exhaustion catching up with her. Her bones cracked slowly. It took her 15 minutes to go from wolf to human. One thing about changing back from a wolf if that you don’t come back with clothes on. You are naked, and I mean starkers. Ruby climbed onto my back. I caught up with Vik quickly I could feel her hands clutching my fur. Her Body was hot against mine, her breathing heavy. Her touch sending tingles through my body. As we neared the pack house I slowed to a walk as Ruby had fallen asleep.

‘Vik, she is asleep. What do I do? Shall I wake her?’ I questioned not wanting to wake Ruby up. She was exhausted.

‘No she is exhausted. Let me change and we can take her inside. You can carry her though.’

I growled in annoyance but complied to the Alphas orders. We marched into the house Vik was naked. His muscles all on show. He was ripped. I was still as a wolf with a naked Ruby asleep on my back. Other pack members stared as we passed.

‘Oh look Viktor found another stray.’ Holly said as we walked past.

‘Shut up Holly. No one asked for your opinion.’ He glared at he. She slowly backed away.

From what I have seen of holly she was very pretty, with long blonde hair and lots of make up. She worse a short denim skirt and a white best top. Underneath was clearly a padded push up bra. She was the pack slut. She has been trying to sleep with Vik for a while now. She gets very jealous when Vik brings another female into the pack. She thinks that she is the Luna. She really isn’t. Her advances being thrown out every time. He just wasn't interested in the pack bike, or making her his Luna.

We put Ruby in a guest bedroom. I decided to stay with her so she didn't freak out about being in a new place alone. She had only seen me in my wolf form so I thought it best that I stay as a wolf as not to scare her. I was somewhat protective over her, I don’t know why. She was a stranger but she needed my help and care. I curled up next to her bed a fell asleep.
