Chapter 2

Asher’s POV

“So, you three need to keep this in your mind that there are some humans too who has shifted to our pack a few days ago as they have some relation with one of our pack members. So, be careful and won’t let them know about us otherwise they will probably get scared.” Dad said working on his laptop. Be it his office or our dining room he will always be working only.

“Yes, dad. We will be careful. But, who are they and why did you allow them to stay at our pack knowing that it will create difficulties for every one of us.” I asked him and smiling at me he tapped the seat beside him asking me to sit down. He always has been this cooperative with me since I have entered my eighteen years and he wants me to slowly and one by one learn everything about being the Alpha.

“It is because they are related to one of our warriors who sacrificed himself for us and our pack a few years back when you were just a small baby.” Looking at the blank space in front of him he replied with a small smile sitting on his lips which was not seeming was out of happiness but sorrow.

“Then, where were they for so many years? Why appearing so suddenly? They can be some thugs, dad.” I asked him with doubt as being related to us and our pack they should have had come here beforehand only.

“It’s because they have been hiding and escaping from the ones behind them.” My brows furrowed hearing his reply. “Why and who was behind them? Why didn’t they came for shelter here then only?” Jared asked dad with doubts clearly visible in his eyes. With various questions running in my head, I stared at him for answers. It was seeming as if something big is going on behind all this.

“That’s because they didn’t want us to get disturbed due to them as they are human. They won’t be able to fight with our enemies like us but would increase our problems. So, she thought to be away would be better.” He replied sighing out making me know that whoever they are, for him are important.

“Since they are so important to you then why didn’t you tried to find them for so many years?” Now, after knowing this much I can’t keep myself without asking the details. And, since they seem so important to him I need to know about them and be responsible too on my dad’s behalf for them.

“Do you think, we haven’t?” Your mom, uncle Ky and all of us have tried our best but failed miserably as every time we reached them they would already shift from that place.

“Why so?” Alaia questioned interrupting him.

“It is because as I said they were being followed by some of our enemies to get their hands on them. If more clearly I have to say then their head wants to have their daughter due to which her mother has been continuously shifting and running alone with her daughter not knowing what to do.” Hearing him I was a bit confused therefore, a frown took its place on my forehead seeing which he smiled.

“What? Who is that soldier and why his enemies are behind his daughter?” Thinking in-depth, more and more questions started erupting in our heads as Alaia asked him.

“He was our most reliable soldier you can say.” He said recalling his memories taking a pause and then continued, “His name was Lucifer, the leader of our pack warriors. He was the one upon whom everyone in the pack used to trust blindly and was the one-man army.”

“Then what happened to him? How did die?” Hearing me without diverting his gaze from the window, “Our pack was attacked by the rouges a few years ago when you were just three and due to Lucifer’s sudden strategy, only our pack got rid of those rouges. He was the strength of the pack which those rouges leader got learned about. He was then determined to get hold of Lucifer so that they can either use him against us or can kill him to make our pack weak.”

While narrating to me the whole incident dad was continued to rub his face and frequently. Seeing his action by just rising the topic of this person, Lucifer is telling me that how important he was and how much of a great person he must have been. Because listening to my dad praising someone is really a rare sight to see.

“Their leader even got successful in getting his hand on Lucifer but being the strongest warrior and wolf of all our allies. Not only physically but also mentally he was very quick. His strategies and on-spot planning were just out of anyone’s reach, that how awesome he was. Though I am the most strongest and powerful Alpha of our whole Southern area after your granddad he was the one who was even much strongest in comparison to me and our pack is the strongest among all other packs.” Losing such a great is for sure a very big loss not only for the pack but for the whole wolf species.

“But, once he got injured during the training due to some new boy which somehow reached the ears of that rouge who took the advantage of that situation and found the exact moment to attack. Being injured also didn’t stop Lucifer from protecting everyone and fighting the best but the rouges were well prepared and held hostage some of our pack members along with the kids and gave him an offer of protecting his pack as we were at the loss at that time because neither I was here that day nor your mom and grandpa to help him. And, he decided to sacrifice himself for others.” A tear slipped out of his eye as he said the last words but he was not et done.

“He was a selfless person whose priority was his pack and responsibility first and he proved that to everyone by not even getting a chance to look at his pregnant mate for the last time.” Taking a deep breath he continued, “And, not because who he was only his family is getting shelter and this much respect today. It’s because even his mate never regretted his choice in fact she was the happiest and the proudest mate. The rouge leader tried his both tactics upon us and Lucifer but he didn’t succeed because…”

“Because...!” Jared repeated his last word and waited for him to continue but by his face, he was seeming to lose his capability of saying anymore when a voice comes from behind. “Because he and his wolf decided to not get their life end from those filthy rouge’s hand but to kill their own selves.” Turning around I saw my mom walking towards us.

Taking her place beside dad she rubs his back making him smile and said, “You know, it is very difficult and brave to sacrifice your own life for others and not regretting it especially when you have someone who is and soon one more to be added depending upon you?” nodding my head I stared at her and respect took its place in my heart for Lucifer.

“When he was a wolf then how come his family is human? And, even if they are then why do we need to hide our identity from them?” I asked after few minutes of silence when dad got hold of himself.

Looking at each other they smiled and looked at me, “That is because…”
