The Kings Tour
The Kingdom Tapelis was in disarray and this usually happens at this time of the year April, it was a season of drought, and due to the recent war propaganda, it has been hard to provide a stable economy for the people because most of their resources were kept in case if there was ever going to a war between them and their rivals Dangari. The season was so dry and this affected the farmlands and the livestock. The rivers that were running across farmlands were slower as the streams and lakes were drying up. Everyone started to reserve water to sustain their families and businesses during this season. King Arkda knew he couldn't get too comfortable, so as not to be surprised by his enemies. He summoned his generals and told them to prepare for war, in case their rivals came knocking and also train more men to join their army. King Arkda's beautiful wife, Queen Liya was also pregnant with his child and this made him even more prepared to fight if war ever arises. He loved her so much and was always bragging about how they were going to have a very handsome prince. He was in his silk shiny robe in his room with the queen on their bed and was reading some reports that had come from the prime minister about the welfare of the kingdom. The queen noticed he was looking worried, she walked toward him from behind laid her hands on his chest and whispered "We'll get through this" Queen Liya said as she caressed the King's chest and kissed his forehead. "I know, am going out tomorrow to tour the kingdom and speak to the people so they rest assured," King Arkda said as he kissed his wife's baby bump. at"But how can I do that with the rumours of war flying around." "Well, be honest when you speak and make your statement short," Queen Liya said. "Teach me how" King Arkda responded. "You'll figure it out, trust me," Queen Liya said as she kissed Arkda when he stood up. "I have to prepare now, let's have breakfast together," King Arkda said as they get dressed and walk out of the room. King Arkda strolled in his horse majestically as he went through the Kingdom with his guards, the prime minister, and some generals around him. He took different stops to have conversations with the people. First, he went to the marketplace to see and speak to their head and everyone. His statement was brief and encouraging. "I know we have all heard the rumours of war brewing and I can tell you, we are all prepared to fight to protect this kingdom whatever it takes. I need you to focus on yourself, and the growth of this kingdom as well don't let the season affect our love for one another. Let's keep each other safe, put food in each other's bellies, and clothe each other during these times. Seasons and wars come and go but love always stays and it always prevails." King Arkda said to the crowd and they all applauded his wisdom and speech. The crowd was so excited it was like they had gotten strength from nowhere, everyone became more understanding of the situation at hand and they were sure their King cared and thought about them. They all murmured, smiled and some waved as the King departed with his company. The next stop was the farmer's council, the King visited and was surprised at the sight of their farms and the troubles they were facing due to the season. The King and the head of the farmer's council rode in separate horses through the farms as they spoke together. "The crops are drying up, as the rivers run slow and it is going to be worse the next coming weeks. The only crops that are sold are the crops we all have stored and their prices have increased gravely because the owners of reservoirs sell water at a higher price now. " How long do you think we can cope with this, my King? We also have to keep up with the number of resources needed for the war." The head of the farmer's council spoke as they rode through his branch of farmlands. "Gather every farm owner and all the council's members together I need to speak to them all" King Arkda said as he rode back to the prime minister and they had a short conversation together. The council head called on one of his workers as he whispered the message to him and they all acted on it. Everyone was present as they all waited for the King. The head council came to the King in a shed that was prepared for him and told him they were all available. King Arkda stood up and followed the head of the farmer's council to the spot where the farmers were gathered. "I am grateful to you all for gathering in my presence on short notice. I want to thank you all for the work you put in the farms, in producing livestock and crops we all can eat and cloth with. I want to address some of the issues you are facing with some new rules. "Firstly, I want every farmland to own a reservoir for these times, imagine you all had reservoirs then the pressure wouldn't be on those that sell to the people from their reservoirs. They sell to you at a higher price because they are not even sure the water would last long enough for the people at home. Don't depend on rivers and lakes at this time they dry up, get people and pay them to build you a reservoir. Make sure every farmland owns a reservoir this time next year. "I will speak to every reservoir owner to reduce the price you all pay for water and you all have to reduce the price you sell your product to the people. "As for the war, if we fight, I guarantee you all victory so don't worry about it. Let's all play our path to make sure our love is our greatest weapon against our enemies." King Arkda said and immediately everyone began to nod their heads as they agreed and were so excited about their king's confidence in their safety. The King also went to the barracks to see the different soldiers' training and he observed the training routine and how the soldiers accommodated new ones and trained them. This was an idea from General Kora'o, he knew it was the best way to get new members familiar with the art of warfare. As the sun began to set, the generals gathered together as the king wanted to speak to them. "I need you all to pass this message to all the soldiers, I am proud of the work they are putting in and the training routine helping the new additions to the army. "Make them understand all is set so they would achieve victory if we have to fight. We have everything they'll ever need when war arises and the season shouldn't make them worried in any way." King Arkda said to the general and left. The generals passed the message to the soldiers in the different zones. The King and the palace guards went ahead to visit the owners of the reservoirs. He had sent a message earlier that they should all gather for a conversation at a safe place close to the palace. King Arkda walked into the room and it fell into silence. "Thank you all for waiting for me, I know we have all heard a lot of the rumours flying around about the welfare of the kingdom. I need something to change and I need your help to achieve that. "I need you all to reduce the prices you sell water to the farmers, they have promised to reduce the prices of goods in the market. I need to have a balanced economy for this season in case our enemies take advantage and wage war. "Also we would need water ready for the troops as we prepare for war. It's only for this season once the weather is back to normal all this will be over. Thank you all for your time." King Arkda dismissed the crowd after the brief speech, they understood the message and had no choice but to make the change. King Arkda headed straight to his palace, after a long day. He met Queen Liya, they kissed and he loosened up as they prepared to have dinner together. "How was your day," King Arkda asked. "It was amazing, the workout routine was great and the physician said our baby is in the best shape possible. What about yours?" Queen Liya asked as she rubbed on her baby bump. "It was great but, I took your advice, brief and honest," King Arkda said as he wiped his mouth and gets up cause he had enough. "I have something to attend to I'll be in the room." The King went down to his room and buried himself in reports and notes from the prime minister. Queen Liya came to the room with some snacks as she noticed he didn't eat much. "I asked the chef to make these just for you," Queen Liya said pointing to the pies, cake, and pieces of meat with a glass of warm milk she dropped on the table. "I noticed you didn't eat much and you still have the worried look on your face." "Thanks for the food, and I'm just busy that's why I didn't eat much. I remembered I had some reports to go through, I'll have some when am done" King Arkda said as he kept on reading. Queen Liya kissed King Arkda on his head as she proceeded to lie down on the bed. She was exhausted as she had been going through different pregnancy routines to keep her and the baby healthy. King Arkda noticed this and immediately left his reports as he watched her yawn and she looked stressed. He quickly went to the bed to give her some feet and shoulder massage. She was surprised and excited and this ignited a spark in both of them. "Am sorry, I have not paid attention to you lately. I love you so much" King Arkda said as he massaged her shoulders. "I can't wait for all these to be over and bring our child into the best state of Tapelis." "I know you do and I know the pressure on you to keep everything in order and everyone safe. I understand and I can't wait for all these to pass away" Queen Liya said she turned around and they had a deep kiss, which took her breath away. Romance filled the air as they both laid together. King Arkda woke up early and ordered the chef to make his wife breakfast in bed after he had gone through all his reports. He was so excited, on one hand, he was confident the economic troubles would be over soon, on the other hand, he was certain they couldn't lose if they ever went to war. To top it all up he was going to be a father soon. King Arkda was 25 years old he had just taken charge of the throne after his father passed away last year after he was diagnosed with cancer. His mom died after she gave birth to him and this made his father drown his sorrows in alcohol and he had less time for Arkda. King Arkda made a promise to himself to be different but he always felt the need to prove a point to his father. This pressure made him a strong warrior, at 18, he was always front line fighting alongside the troops. This was the main reason he had to keep Tapelis safe, he had to do it for his unborn child and his mother. Although he never met her he loved her so much and he knew she was always watching over him.
