After so much persuasion from Eric to go visit Melinda at the hospital, a pathetic human being, how on earth did she cut herself so badly to even end up in the hospital? I wouldn't lie, my heart skipped when I heard she was rushed to the hospital.
But I was angry she could be more careful to take care of herself around a knife. Wasn't she a professional cook... Such a waste of life.
I went to the hospital; she looked shocked that I visited her considering the fact that I treated her like a worthless human being. My wolf was happy that she was fine and looking brighter.
But our meeting was cut short as Cassandra mind linked me, asking for my presence on a matter of urgency. I also linked Eric also as we left the hospital and walked right into the woods, which was the easiest way to get to Cassandra.
It wasn't a long journey though, but we got there three hours earlier, while it would take a normal human eight hours to get to where Cassandra lives.
Cassandra is one of the last solace witches, who can not only see into the future but also put the future to a halt and enable anybody to use time and space to their advantage.
It takes the power of eight witches to have the power that Cassandra holds. Fortunately, Cassandra is a good witch, which gives us power over every other witch. Decades before, the witches came together to form an alliance to rule over werewolves and humans.
But we all know if this happens, humans would be used as their slaves and werewolves, having the strength to kill a witch without much strength, would be a threat to them. They plan to reduce the existence of werewolves as we do not see eye to eye.
They wish to erase the existence of werewolves, and we make sure to kill every witch we see. Throughout history, if a werewolf is to mate with a witch, they give birth to someone powerful like Cassandra. But as the fight between these two creatures, cross-mating has since stopped.
We entered Cassandra's Cafe; the aroma of different herb mixtures and smoke from her cooking pot was a feeling of peace to my soul. I trust Cassandra so much even though she possesses a power that could destroy the whole pack of werewolves in the twinkling of an eye.
"Felix, Eric, both of you are here." "Yes, Cassandra, you asked for our presence, is there anything wrong?" I knew her request for our presence meant something must be wrong somewhere. "Yes, Felix, the witches had a conference meeting today. Even though they blocked me from knowing, I was able to tap into their meeting."
Eric stopped his survey round the room as he stared and listened keenly to what Cassandra was about to say, "They are planning to send in spies into the human world." "Then let's block the passage to the human world," Eric said as quickly as Cassandra spoke about the outcome of the meeting.
"Eric, we can't block the passage to the human world. There are rules; the witches know this," Cassandra continued. "They plan on coming unharmed, like in a human form without their powers."
"Isn't that risky for a witch to be seen without its powers?" I questioned such a decision. A witch without its powers was useless and might die from these changes. "It's possible as long as they live and abide by the rules and not eat any human food."
"But why are they coming in as spies? If what they could do was attack without mercy..." "They can't attack through from the other world; they need the soul of a human virgin."
"That explains it, but how would we know who these spies are? How do we know when they will be coming in?" I said, while Eric looked like he was also in deep thought.
"If we can stop these spies from achieving their aims, we can stop the oncoming attacks. But how do we achieve this?"
"There is only one way we can achieve this, if we can set a trap for these spies. They can't be seen in daylight due to them not having their powers, so definitely they would plan their attacks late into the night," Cassandra said.
I gave it a deep thought, and it was a great idea to catch a prey by giving it a prey in return. "That means we have to locate where they plan to carry out the awful act, plant a prey, and catch them in the act," Erice and I left Cassandra's place all bothered and in high hopes to protect our loved ones from any incoming danger.
I spent the better part of the week in the hospital and the rest at home. Jenifa was kind enough to put me through, making me promise to get well soon and get back to work. Some days I find myself thinking about Eric; one time the children called him alpha.
That puzzled me because those words are only used for a werewolf lord in the novel that I have been reading since high school, and as far as I know, werewolves do not exist. They were just fictional stories created by writers.
But I sometimes imagine how it would feel if I got to kiss his lips and be held onto by those strong arms whenever he plays with the kids. Even though he gives no cognizance to my existence, why does he even hate me so much? I was busy with novels and movies, but I was soon to get bored as I barely have any friends who miss me or call me.
The only friend I was starting to get attached to was Jenifa. I do not know why she takes a liking to me. After spending the whole weekend at home, my hand was finally healed, so I was ready to get back to work. As I stepped out of my home, it gave a sign that it was going to rain, but that day one couldn't believe if it was going to rain or not.
It gave the same sign every day, so I overlooked it and went my way. I was so excited to get myself down to work. Even though someone seems not to want me around, I now have to add one more enemy, Mary. Everyone was happy to see me at work except Eric and Mary, who looked like they wanted to strangle me.
