The Queens Rise

Chapter 1

My name is Edward Jaxson I am the Alpha of the Black Veil pack we are the biggest pack in New Orleans, Louisiana. Here a little back story about me. I met my mate when I 17 on my birthday no less I didn't have to wait like some people. See we shift on our 17th birthday and we can find our mate. I was on a run and then the most beautiful smell of apples and cinnamon floated into my nose. I stopped dead in my tracks and followed it to find a man beating a woman. All I could hear was Red that's my wolf's name yelling mate. I was able to save her that night but the man who I found out was her ex-fiance was trying to kill her because she ran away. I wasn't alpha at the time and my dad refused to go on a wild goose chase for one man. Well, he showed up again exactly one year later and killed her in the mall parking lot. She was alone she had slipped the protection detail again. I felt all of her pain and I never came back at least I wasn't the same man anymore. I swore I would die alone. My mom who is a hybrid witch tells me she has seen me happy again. I don't want to believe her but she doesn't lie and her visions always come true.  So I became known as the meanest alpha. It has been 10 years since then I'm 28 and tonight the Saving Grace pack. They are having their walk where men can possibly find their mate I find this disgusting. But they are the biggest pack in Mississippi and their land ends where mine begins. And I don't want to start a war so I have to make an appearance.  

Maybe this will be the year my son. I have dreamt more of her lately I know you don't believe me but be open-minded please my dear sweet boy. Mom, I am a grown man and I will make an appearance and walk the line like always Keagan will make sure of it. Keagan is my beta and he keeps me in check. He actually met his mate at the walk 6 years ago. So off we go on this hour drive.

My name is Lucy Lexington. I am the daughter of the beta at the Saving Grace pack. We are the biggest pack in Mississippi and tonight is the mate walk. We have it four times a year once every four months when there are no birthdays so that everyone has a chance to find a mate. I just turned 17 last night and I hope I find my mate tonight I just hope it's not Alpha Edward. I heard he lost his mate like 10 years ago and he turned into a mean evil man. Well, I don't have a choice in the matter really.  My dad and the alpha would make me go there isn't a war.  

EARTH TO LUCY. 

Shit mom, you scared me I was daydreaming about meeting my mate I can't wait. I just hope it's not their alpha. Oh, honey, my mom said, "I hope it's not either but if it is maybe he will reject you." I hope you are ok honey and if he doesn't well then you will be okay he was good to his first mate and the goddess only give second chances to those who deserve it. We need to get you ready. 

Back to Lucy P.O.V.

I stepped in my shower and took a long hot one to wash away the day away. I wash my body with the lavender body wash. I washed my hair with rose-infused shampoo.  I stepped out and my mom helped me get ready she curled my hair that meets my ass I wore a red dress that hugged every curve of my body. I do look good if I do say so myself. It's midnight and the walk is about to start I'm nervous as hell. Oh well, time to face the music as my sister would say.
