NYSERA
The vision feels so real, as if I am the one pierced with the bloody arrow on the forehead. I can feel every muscle in my head contracting, like it's going to explode. I couldn't even breathe or see properly, and this unwanted vision just made everything much worse.
Bloody and dead werewolves everywhere. They were scattered like pieces of trash, stomped on by other werewolves that I don't even recognize. Arrows fall from the sky, imitating the rain drops that make everything more gloomy. A series of explosions shook the ground, breaking every proud infrastructure into pieces.
Roars, growls, and screams echoed in my ears, hearing them as if I was in the middle of a battleground. Blood splattered everywhere, and werewolves who were still breathing were either clawed or shot to death.
Blinding lights hit my eyes, and when I opened it again, I was back to reality — the part where visions are not seen.
"Damn omega! You ruined my skin!" Daisy's scream replaced the awful sounds of the vision. When my eyes turned to her arm, I saw my nail marks on her skin.
I didn't respond to her. The beating of my heart is much louder than her voice, and I'm sweating buckets, to the point where I don't know what water and my sweat is.
I pushed my body up, with my legs feeling weak as I stumbled. Without a second thought, I reached out to Daisy's other friends. I want to confirm my suspicion.
"Let go of me!" The voices of her friends and their brutal touch to my skin were the last things I could sense before I was swallowed by my visions once again.
July 22.
Bloody arrows.
Painful screams.
Pile of dead werewolves.
Explosions.
Ruins.
No matter who I touched among them, the vision is still the same. Same date and same environment. Pierced arrows, mutilated face, sliced head, and a knife on the heart. Different causes, but all of them will die on the same day.
My feet move backwards as my body shakes, staring at my hands that carry the heavy curse of my life. Stumbling towards the exit, there was only one thing on my mind: I need to save my family.
Without saying any word to them, I ran out of the banquet hall and left my work together with those bullies. I am soaked from head to toe, with the smell of disinfectant and soap on my skin. The eyes of others landed on me with a confused and mocking look, but I didn't care. There is only one thing that I need to do.
I crossed the street without stopping and minding the honking cars. I even bumped into others, with my hands touching them in a split second. More visions flash before my eyes, and they're all the same, making my suspicion grow stronger.
"Mama!" I shouted to my mother as I got closer to her workplace. She was still sweeping the street when I arrived, and worry filled her face as she saw my situation.
Letting go of the broom, she rushed towards me while pulling a huge towel from her bag. "What happened to you? Who did th—"
"We need to leave!" I cut off her words with panic and emergency, and I didn't even notice that my hands had landed on her.
I was blinded once again, but this time, it was my mother's end that met me.
July 22.
A huge spear. Piercing Mama's neck.
"Don't tell me what you saw," were the first words I heard when the vision ended. Hot and salty tears fell from my eyes, and Mama wiped it with her thumb immediately.
I shook my head, pulling my hand away from her. "You'll die today," my voice came out shaky and weak as I hid my hands away. "We need to leave the pack, Mama, or all of us will die."
Without hesitation, Mama grabbed me by the arm. "What will happen to the pack?" she asked while we were rushing out, and she's still wiping my wet body with her single towel.
"I don't know," I replied, still crying silently as I looked around. Every time my eyes land on a person, the first thing that comes to my mind is how they would die today. "Maybe an attack? I saw unfamiliar werewolves in my visions, Ma."
"Then we need to tell the Alpha about it," she responded, and true to her words, we went to the Alpha's house. We stood outside under the dark sky, and he looked at us with squinted eyes.
"Did you seriously waste my time just to tell me about that stupid vision?" Alpha Gabriel spat out after I explained to him what I saw. "Nysera, no one can enter our pack, nor attack it! You're spewing nonsense!" He turned back and walked away from us.
I stepped forward, hoping to get more attention to the urgency that we needed, but two wolf guards blocked us with their spears. "Alpha, please believe me! I saw it!" I pleaded while we were being escorted away from the Alpha's house. "Everyone will die!"
When Alpha Gabriel stopped his tracks, I felt a little hope that he would believe us, but that hope was crushed into pieces. "We're on top of a plateau, with deadly ashes in the bottom of it. Do you really think other packs can walk and climb past the natural security we have?" he boasted the unusual description of our territory. "No one will dare to attack my pack. Not on my watch."
"Throw them out!" he ordered the wolf guards, who were merciless enough to leave us on the ground, with a few scratches on our skin.
I turned to Mama with a helpless look. I feel that I wouldn't be able to stop the unfortunate event in our pack. Of course, who in the right mind would believe that I have those visions? It's because of this I became an outcast.
Mama stood up, gave one last look at the Alpha's house, before she turned to me. "If we can't save others, the least we can do is save ourselves."
With that, the two of us went home. Papa and my two younger brothers were shocked to see us, not just because we were home early, but also because of how I looked and the news that I gave to them.
We didn't waste any time. We packed only the essential things, and a few foods to keep us alive for a few days without hunting. The whole family has one bag each, easy to carry while escaping but packed with everything that we will need.
"Move faster," Papa told us while he carried one of my brothers, Niko, while Natan, the other one, was with Mama.
Quick but stealthily, we moved towards the west exit of the pack. There are no wolf guards there, but that part cannot be climbed because of the slope and slippy ground.
"It's raining, Ma, Pa," Natan spoke as his palms faced up to catch the rain drops.
The rain that started lightly became heavier as seconds passed. The louder the rain becomes, the louder my heartbeat gets. I didn't even check if someone would see us escaping. The only thing on my mind now is our goal to leave the pack before the attack happens.
We ran with our lungs burning and feet kicking the Earth, until the ground shook violently beneath us - a quake that almost pushed me down to the ground.
Blasts of fire flew in the air, clashing the nonstop heavy rain drops and the roaring thunder of the sky. Several debris fell down on us, as the explosion shattered the Veinspire — the towering statue that was once the symbol of our pack’s pride and power.
With the Veinspire reduced into just a pile of rubble, it only means one thing.
They’re here.
