Chapter 12 “Rogues? Why?” I asked, my racing heart thumping against my ribcage. “Because,” Mason said, his voice low and nearly a whisper, “Rogues tried to attack the east side of the park.” Clenching his jaw, his face was in shadow with moonlight. “Don't worry about it. It has been taken care of.” I let out a sigh as the tension drained from my shoulders. “That is Good,” Mason's eyes softened as he regarded my face. “You're exhausted.” “I am fine,” I responded, my body aching in pain from having trained earlier. “You are a terrible liar,” he said with his mouth splitting into a half-smile. “Shall we go back to your bedroom?” “Yes,” I whispered.
