The Infinity Games

Gravara was a city of ruins. The once beautiful streets, markets, and homes, now destroyed. The city of fortune was destroyed by the armies of Palitia, the Capital of Amaria. People tell themselves that the destruction of Gravara was caused by a war that was waged between the two cities. People tell themselves that the fight was fair, but there was no war. There was just annihilation. The Governor of that time was obsessed with obtaining control of all Amaria. And he got it through his h*******t. The destruction of Gravara was so great, and there were so few survivors, that the only thing he had to do in order to usurp control was clear the ruble. To show all the citizens of Amaria that he had obtained his complete control, the Governor created the Infinity Games. The Infinity Games were a brutal sport where children were thrown into an arena and forced to kill each other. The games consisted of anything from poisonous fruits, to endless mazes, to monsters created in a lab with murder woven into their DNA. The children who were put into the games not only had to kill each other, but had to survive the other horrors that awaited them in the arena. There were never winners of the Infinity Games. Every month new children were put into the arena, causing the game to continue its never ending cycle, digging its claws into infinity. The people of Palitia thought of these games as a sport, a show for their entertainment. They were blinded by their oblivion. None of their children were put into the arena, so they never knew the pain or the grief or the true horror. They were oblivious to the horrors outside their city. Oblivious that they were being controlled. Oblivious that the Infinity Games were hurting and killing real people. The avid watchers of the capital each had a contestant they rooted for, but the favorites never lasted long. With new contestants streaming into the arena every month, the balance had to be kept so this problem was fixed by killing the children that had survived for more than a month. To make sure this balance was kept, a position was established within the government. The Infinity Controller controlled what happened in the games and was in charge of what and who went in. The Infinity Controller decided who died and who was tortured, overall playing their petty god. But could their god keep order for infinity? Infinity was a very, very long time.
