CHAPTER 1: The First Meet
Henry had lived in a gilded cage all his life. Surrounded by luxury but stifled by the constant presence of bodyguards, he had grown restless. As he graduated college, the anticipation of freedom buzzed in his chest, but his parents hired a new bodyguard, Zion, whose imposing stature and silent intensity only added to his frustration. Little did he know, Zion would turn his world upside down.
From the moment Zion stepped into his life, a strange magnetism pulled at Henry. The bodyguard's presence was overwhelming, both protective and alluring, a stark contrast to the sterile efficiency of those who had come before. As days turned into weeks, their interactions shifted from formality to something deeper. Zion’s fierce loyalty and unyielding strength drew Henry in, igniting feelings he hadn’t anticipated.
One day, Henry and Zion were at the garden. Henry was greeted with peace by the flowers that sorrounded the garden. Henry was also making a flower crown for Zion. Without Henry acknowledging it, Zion was secretly admiring Henry.
"And.. Done!" Henry gave the crown to his bodyguard. Zion snapped out of his thoughts and nodded
"Thank you, sir Henry." Zion gave him a light smile, which was a rare sight.
As the time passes, In the shadows of his heart lingered Ian, his charming ex-boyfriend. Henry found himself torn, often reminiscing about their time together. The warmth of Ian's laughter haunted him, leading to restless nights filled with longing. But as Zion stood by his side, unwavering and steadfast, the boy began to question his emotions.
Zion, on the other hand, was helplessly drawn to Henry. Each stolen glance, every brush of their hands sent a jolt through him. Yet, he concealed his feelings, aware of the unspoken rules of his position. As time passed, it became painfully clear: Marion still harbored affection for Ian, and Zion, an outsider in more ways than one, could only watch from the sidelines.
"Sir Henry-" Zion tried to talk to him while in a library.
"Can we talk later, Zion? Im still having a conversation with Ian on the phone."
Zion felt a pang in his chest at the rejection. Zion just nodded, hiding the supreme jealousy he was feeling. He wanted to rekindle their relationship. It was a bittersweet ache, one that came with the knowledge that he would always be just a bodyguard—a protector, not a lover.
Then, chaos erupted. Ian arrived one night, distressed and disheveled, confessing he was cursed. He needed help, and though it pained him, Henry reached out to Zion. The bodyguard, always willing to protect, agreed to assist, but beneath his stoic exterior, turmoil brewed.
As Henry began to understand the dangers lurking around him, he became entangled in a web of supernatural intrigue. That evening, he set out to find Zion, desperate for reassurance. However, he was ambushed by Fyodoro, Zion's equally powerful but malevolent brother, who had his own dark ambitions.
"You know, Zion had always protected you. He always treated you like his own treasure. So blind, Henry. Despite knowing his caring and affection for you, you always come back to your ex-boyfriend. 'Your Lovely Ian'." Fyodoro spat out.
Caught in a confrontation, Fyodoro sought to manipulate Henry's vulnerabilities, taunting him about Magnus’s affections. But just as hope seemed lost, Zion arrived, his presence like a tempest. In a fierce battle, he fought off Fyodoro, saving Henry from his clutches.
As they escaped into the night, Zion placed Henry in the passenger seat of his car, relief flooding through him. The boy’s eyes fluttered, fatigue overtaking him as he slowly drifted to sleep. A few stray strands of hair fell across Henry’s face, and Zion felt an overwhelming urge to tuck them behind his ear. But he hesitated, remembering the line that separated them.
He watched Zion sleep, vulnerability etched on his features, and felt the weight of his own unexpressed love. Every emotion surged within him—joy at Henry’s safety, sorrow at the reality of their distance, and an all-consuming longing that threatened to drown him.
As they drove in silence, the moonlight spilling through the window, Zion fought back tears. He had been there for every triumph and every trial, yet he knew he could never cross that boundary again. The boy had chosen Ian, and though Zion understood, it didn’t lessen the pain, but made it grew.
Finally, Henry stirred, his eyes fluttering open to meet Zion’s gaze. For a brief moment, time froze as the world outside faded. The air crackled with unspoken words, but before Henry could say anything, his thoughts drifted back to Ian.
“Where are we going?” Henry asked softly, his voice still thick with sleep.
“Anywhere but here,” Zion replied, forcing a smile that barely masked his heartbreak. He wanted to be with him again.. But knowing Henry has a relationship with his former ex, it made him more afraid that Henry will leave him.
