*Chance's POV*
We went into the Red Stone Packhouse. Everything looked very elegant and of high quality. Which struck a nerve in me. As we arrived at their conference room, Alpha Steven pulled a chair from the middle of the table, which was a sign of disrespect. I walked right, passed him to the head of the table, pulled the massive chair, and sat down. I could see that Alpha Steven gulped and wiped the sweat from his forehead as he corrected his mistake by apologizing. I became more annoyed by the sight of his presence. I mind-linked Loki asking him to alert the other members to secretly look around and talk to workers about the issues they have been seeing. Loki stepped out of the room to talk to one of the 2 pack members who followed us at all times. They are warriors that are there just in case there is a trap. The warrior must have left as Loki walked back, fixing his tie on his suit. Loki and I have been friends for so long. He believes he owes me his life. In reality, I owe him mine because I was in a dark place for a while. Loki gave a slight nod as Alpha Steven kept talking to me about my mother and father. I looked at him and said "Cousin, when my father inherited the land from our grandfather he decided what family members should run the packs. Now, because of the recent neglect of the contract, I have to be here to put you under investigation." I could see in Steven's face that the life had been sucked out of him. He went pale and white as if he had seen a ghost. Just then, the rest of the members of the family walked in.
"Alpha Chance, what a surprise having you here. I'm so sorry for my rudeness and for not greeting you at the entrance with my husband. My name is Lorraine," she said. As she shuffled her way past Steven, just to bow, then rose, looking directly at me. I can tell that my presence has shaken them. As Lorraine and Steven made their way to their chairs, the next couple walked through. I could sense freshly marked mates. The young female I could see how she looked like her mother. Yet the man who followed annoyed the hell out of me. He stared at me as if I was going to rob him of his mate. I could hear a slight growl coming from him. My wolves wanted to tear him apart for some reason. Both female's eyes wandered all over my body and I could smell how aroused they were getting just by my appearance. Any female mated or not becomes like this in my presence. It becomes quite annoying because they just throw themselves literally at me. I would never give any of them the time or day. "Hello, Alpha," was said in a very s****l voice by the younger recently marked female.
"This is my daughter Lora, and her mate Jacob. They are the future Luna and Alpha of this Pack" said Lorraine, also in a very s****l voice. Both Steven and Jacob huffed at their mates to stop.
"Everyone has a seat. We are here to discuss the recent negotiation of our contract". I said as I watched all their eyes widen. Yet first I had to ask, "I would like to tour around your pack as we investigate these actions taken against the Moon Stone Pack.
"Alpha Chance, we just didn't have the product you needed to be able to send you the quota of the supplies. I was on my way...," said Steven as I cut him off from talking. "I do not want to hear your excuses. The contract states that you must meet the quota each month so that the packs can all contribute to the supplies given. How is it that you failed to make the quota 3 times? Because you failed to inform us of not making the quota, you are now under investigation. So I demand a truthful explanation." I could see Steven struggling to find the words to say. Before he could speak, Lorraine spoke for him. "I apologize, my Alpha, for our negligence. We are ashamed to inform you that it was also because of the recent rogue attacks, and we lost supplies. We wanted to send out a bigger quota next time, but it has been a hard time to recover. Lorraine said in a very soft and slightly weeping way. " Yes Alpha, as future Luna and Alpha we want to keep our contact strong between us. Because I'm coming of age and learning things, we decided not to inform you till after my crossover, said Lora, as if she was pleading.
I raised my hand to stop all parties from talking. "Let me make this clear, you want me to believe that you didn't tell me about your pack being attacked by rogues because you were coming of age," I said in an annoyed, rumbling voice. Everyone stepped back and lowered their heads. All except for Jacob, who seemed to be challenging me. "We had mated, so our wedding is soon. We will learn the methods of the contract and make up for the lost supplies. Investigate us if you want. We have nothing to hide. Once you do, I would like to get back to my arrangements for my wedding," said Jacob in a stern voice. I could see his wolf fighting to the surface. He is still new to his puppy age. I laughed, which startled everyone. "The investigation is done already, I will take my leave soon," I said as I got up from the chair and walked to Jacob. Jacob stood there making his chest buff up. My eyes glowed red as I said "Look here, little future Alpha, you may need to know your place before I come back and rip your throat out" in my guttural voice. Which made him step back and lower his head. I walked away from them and out the door. Loki wasn't far behind as he caught up to discuss what they found out about the pack. Just then, as I reached the front of the house, there that sweet aroma hit my nose. It smelt like fresh rain with a slight scent of lavender. I tried to follow the scent, but it kept fading. Loki kept asking what was wrong, but the scent was coming and going. I tuned him out. I made my way to a side building that looked like the servant corridors. I stepped in and kept following the smell. As I reached the door, my heart began to race. Is this the moment I find my mate? I reached for the door nob and yet hesitated a bit. My wolves were howling mate over and over again. I finally got the courage to touch the knob and turn it. As the door opened, I was left in emptiness. A small room with a small bed with torn sheets, drawings that looked like they had been shredded, and what looked like a once well-kept room was now thrown around as if someone had trashed it. My wolves boiled with anger. Yet the sound of a gasp calmed them down. I turned to see a maid in the doorway. "Excuse me, Alpha, I didn't mean to disturb you," she said in a scared voice as she turned to walk away. "Ma'am.... Ma'am, what is this room" I said in a stern voice that I changed to not scare her. She turned and looked at the Alpha. "That was once a room for the servant who became a traitor to this pack and was exiled to become a rogue. We were told that she was the reason we had a rogue attack and, instead of killing her, the pack broke its bond with her." I stared at her as she told me something was wrong, but I didn't have time to understand the situation. My mate was a servant and is now on the run and becoming a rogue. If I didn't get to her, she might be taken and hurt. Thoughts filled my head and I became worried and angry. Anyone who dares hurt my mate will answer me. I thanked the servant and handed her a small bag of money for telling me what had happened. She was scared yet thankful. I walked out of the place and Loki saw me zoned out. He knew I was talking to my wolves. Just then, I mind-linked every guard in the surrounding area to look for a female rogue. I had to find her soon before I lost her forever. Loki tried talking to me but the thoughts of finally finding my mate clouded everything. I can't lose her, I need her. We got into the car and drove for hours back to the pack house.
