“How much time do we have left?” You shouted, trying to zip up your dress.
“We should have left twenty minutes ago!” You hear your best friend yell from across the hall. You groan, running back into your closet to grab your trusty black heels.
Pulling them on was a struggle but once you checked yourself out in the full-length mirror in the corner of the room, you knew the past two hours were worth it.
Your hair was in loose curls, a beautifully done smokey eye with nude lips adorning your face, and your favorite new red dress tightly hugging your curves.
You grabbed your leather jacket, practically sprinting down the stairs.
“Ready?” Mia looked over at you, her eyes widening, not used to this side of you, “Damn, looking sexy.”
“Feeling sexy,” you grinned, winking.
Twenty minutes later you were walking out of the uber into one of the clubs in downtown LA. You’d been before but this time, it was rented out for your friend’s private birthday party.
“He went all out didn’t he?” You say, the shock apparent in your voice as you walk through the club, Mia following close behind.
“It’s Will, what did you expect,” She snorted in response.
You two walked until you reached the back, knowing that Will would definitely be sitting in VIP. You walked over to the bouncer, saying your names, feeling a slight sense of relief that Will remembered to put your names on the list.
Sometimes you felt overwhelmed knowing that you were friends with Will Poulter, you two had met years ago when he spilled your coffee all over you at Starbucks. You had been friends ever since. You introduced him to Mia almost immediately, the three of you hanging out whenever the busy boy had time.
“Y/n!” A slightly tipsy Will ran over to you, hopping over the low table at his booth, pulling your smaller body into his embrace, “I’m so happy you made it.”
“Happy birthday Willy,” You smiled, rubbing his back as you hugged.
“Mimi!” He shouted, switching to pull your best friend into his arms. You smirked as Mia began to blush as he held her, you knew of her ‘small’ crush on him.
“What are you drinking?” The excited boy threw his arms over your and Mia’s shoulders, guiding you to the bar.
“I’ll have a tequila sunrise.” You smiled, not wanting to get completely wasted. Mia on the other hand, had a different idea, ordering herself four shots of vodka.
You watched your best friend down her drinks, making a hilarious face every time the alcohol ran down her throat.
You giggled, sipping slowly on your drink as Will excused himself to go greet other guests.
“What now?” Mia nudged your shoulder with hers, gesturing to the crowd of people filling the space. You shrugged, this wasn’t the first time Will had invited you to one of his parties, so you knew some of his friends, but so far every face you saw was unfamiliar.
“Want to dance?” You asked, extending your hand, Mia nodding and taking it eagerly, guiding you to the dance floor.
You began moving your hips to the upbeat song, throwing your head back as you and Mia belted the song at the top of your lungs. After a few songs you began noticing Mia’s eyes trained behind you, not fully interested in dancing.
You huffed, spinning your body around to see Will with some blonde girl seated in his lap. You cursed silently, turning back to a teary- eyed Mia. She shuddered, her lips trembling as she looked at you, “Can you please get drunk with me?”
When she asked like that, there was no way in hell you could ever say no. Nodding, you let yourself be led to the bar.
A few shots later, you could feel the familiar fuzzy feeling in your head – indicating your tipsiness. Mia on the other hand, was completely intoxicated. Instead of forgetting about Will, like you had both hoped, she seemed to be thinking about him more than ever.
It wasn’t long before she was fully crying, having you lead her over to the bathroom to calm her down.
“Breathe, baby.” You spoke gently, rubbing her back as she sat on sink counter. Thankfully, the club bathroom was huge, so you were in no one’s way.
After a few minutes of your silence and her soft sobs, you decided that she should probably sober up, “I’m going to go get you some water, okay?”
She sniffed, nodding in response. You hugged her again before hopping off the counter, “I’ll be right back.”
You quickly made your way to the bar, trying to get the bartenders attention, to no avail. You huffed, turning away, hoping to find Will.
You walked back over to VIP, finding it to be more packed than you remembered. You pushed through the sweaty bodies, smiling at a few people that you recognized.
You looked forward, trying to stand on your toes to see over the taller bodies. You could finally see Will, standing in the back talking to someone you didn’t recognize, you huffed, beginning to push forward, eyes trained on Will.
You tried to squeeze through the crowd, using your elbows to move people out of the way.
“Umpf!” You heard a deep voice from behind you, your eyes wide as you turned to face whoever you had accidentally hit.
“Motherfuc –”His words faltered as your eyes met his. You felt your breath hitch in your throat, his face sobering you up immediately. You had just hit Dylan O’brien.
“I’m – I’m so sorry!” You managed to splutter out as his gaze traveled over you, “I was trying to find Will and I – ”
“Hey, hey,” He smiled, “No biggie.”
This shut you up immediately, your face hot as the club lights flew over him, illuminating his face.
You were quiet as he took a step closer, his musky scent filling your senses. You felt like you were in a daze as he leaned in, “Will’s back there with Jason.”
You took a shaky breath, nodding at him.
He smiled again, nodding at you and straightening up. You took that as your sign to leave, trying to muster up a smile, “I’m sorry again.”
“Don’t worry about it,” His voice was teasing as he continued, “You can buy me a drink later, to make up for it.”
You smiled, knowing that all the drinks at the private party were free, “Deal.”
“I’ll see you later ..”
“Y/n.”
“Y/n,” he repeated, stretching out his hand for you to shake, “I’m Dylan.”
You took his warm palm into your hand; trying to act like you didn’t watch every single movie he was in, “Nice to meet you.”
An awkward silence loomed over you as he continued to look straight at you, making you nervous.
“I should go find Will.”
He coughed, “Yeah – yeah, of course. I’ll see you later?”
You nodded, smiling again before turning away in the direction you had seen Will. You released a deep breath that you hadn’t realized you’d been holding.
The second you reached Will, he excused himself from the group he was with and walked hurriedly over to you, grabbing your hand and leading you to a secluded corner.
“You okay?” His eyes were panicked as he looked at your hazy expression.
“Why didn’t you tell me that Dylan f*****g O’brien was here?” You hissed, looking around to make sure no one heard.
Will seemed to relax at your words, tilting his head back to laugh loudly, “He’s a close friend. Of course he’d be here!”
“You could have at least warned me, I just completely embarrassed myself in front of him!”
Will smiled again, looking behind you, “I don’t think you did.”
You narrowed your gaze, “What? How would you know?”
“He keeps looking over here,” Will smirked.
Your eyes widened as you immediately straightened up, “What? Why? Does he look mad?”
Will smirked down at you, “I don’t think mad is the word I would use, more like turned on.”
“Will!” You huffed, hitting his arm as he began to giggle.
“I’m not kidding,” He tried to contain his laughter, “Where’s Mia?”
“s**t!” Your eyes widened, “She’s drunk off her ass, I came to find water.”
His face turned serious immediately, “Is she okay? Where is she?”
You almost smiled at his concern, “She’s fine, I left her in the bathroom.”
Will took your hand again, leading you over to the bar. He gained the attention of the bartender immediately making you roll your eyes as three bottles of water were handed to you.
“I tried to get water from them for like ten minutes,” you huffed, tightly holding the bottles as the two of you rushed through the crowd.
He ignored you, his worried eyes trained on the bathroom door. You almost reached it before a hand latched onto your arm, pulling you back.
“Y/n!” Mia’s excited voice surprised you as you turned to face her smiling profile. She seemed completely fine and was currently dancing with a tipsy Kaya, who smiled and waved at you.
“Are you okay?” Will pushed you out of the way to greet her, “We got you some water.”
“I’m good.” She shook her head, “Come dance!”
She grabbed his hand, making him turn to you and place all the bottles he was holding in your hands before turning to lead her to the center of the dance floor.
You stood dumbfounded as you watched the two of them laughing and dancing wildly, a stark comparison to the scene you had witnessed in the bathroom. You shook your head with a smile, turning around to return the water.
“Thirsty?” You heard a teasing voice to your right, scaring you, the bottles flying out of your grasp.
“s**t!” You muttered as they rolled around the club, people beginning to kick them out of the way.
“Sorry,” Dylan smiled almost sheepishly as he walked closer to you, “I can go get you more.”
You shook your head, “No, that’s okay, they weren’t for me anyway.”
You were both silent for a moment before you took a leap of faith, smiling up at him, “How about that drink?”
“I think I owe you one now.” He motioned to the ruined bottles.
You laughed, “I think we could both use it.”
The two of you made your way to the bar, Dylan stepping ahead to order, but not before asking you what you wanted. You shrugged, leaving the choice in his hands.
You were met with a tequila sunrise, which brought a smile to your face as he leaded you to one of the booths in the back of the club.
He grinned once you both sat down across from each other, “So how do you know Will?”
You took a sip of the drink before replying, “He spilled my drink at Starbucks, and decided to keep me around ever since.”
“Will talks about you all that time.” He leaned forward, “It’s surreal to finally meet you.”
You snorted, “How do you think I feel?”
He smirked at you, his eyes trained on yours, “Will may have mentioned that you might have a small crush on me.”
You could feel your heart drop into your stomach, eyes widening as you leaned away from him, “He did what?”
He laughed loudly, throwing his head back, which in any other situation would have made you so happy.
“I’m going to kill him!” You hissed, making him laugh louder.
“Why?” He looked back to you, confused, “He didn’t mention my crush on you?”
“Huh?” Your heart was beating in your ears as you tried to figure out if you had heard him correctly.
He leaned closer, a small smile on his handsome face, “I’ve known about you for a while now. Kind of hard to miss the gorgeous girl constantly on Will’s instagram.”
You coughed, fully aware of the blood rushing to your cheeks, “He um- he never mentioned that.”
“That’s a shame,” He shrugged, “But I’m glad I met you now.”
You felt like you were in a haze as you nodded at him, “Me too.”
He looked around the club for a second before turning back to you, “Do you want to get out of here?”
And as you looked into his warm, honey colored eyes, and outstretched hand, there was no way in hell, that you would ever say no.
