He makes no move to hold me. It's I that closes the gap as both of our auras spark against each other. "Don't." He whispers, yet something inside myself urges me to keep going. I carefully reach up and wrap my arms around his neck as I feel an electrical current, while a cool sensation takes over.
"Warm." He says before his own arms wrap around my waist. It's a calm before the storm as I start to feel the cold take over as I hear Cale wince in pain. "It burns." He says as I start to shiver. My heart starts beating fast and I feel it against his own. "Imprinting." "Is this what it is?" The doctor says as Cale and I try to pull away.
"Why can't we pull away?" I ask as the doctor suddenly snaps out of whatever daze he's in. "Stay together." Cale looks angry, yet grabs my waist and pulls me tightly against him. Our bodies absorb one another as I lay my head on his chest and keep my arms wrapped around him. We both feel the pain of the others element, yet we both can feel the rapid beating of our hearts.
It isn't until a few moments later, when they sync together that we collapse, while holding each other. "It must be done." "Pull away, now!" "Cale." I whisper as I feel my body getting numb from the cold. I open my closed eyes and see the burnt scars all over him. "Cale, I'm sorry." I get out between my clattering teeth.
"You'll be what kills me." He says before the bubble disappears and both of our own people, from our elements helps us, to spread us apart. I look down at my body and see a slight blue hue to it. "We have to get you warm." Ellie and Mellie say in unison before they start to glow and wrap their arms around me.
I look across from me and see Cales elements doing the same. He must feel my eyes on him as he looks at me. I see the blue glow from his friends and feel relieved as his scars disappear. "That was a success, wasn't it?" The doctor is now before us, in his own bubble as he walks and talks." "This is quite interesting and progress to soon finding a way to bringing prosperity to the planet."
"We'll return plant life and heal the world." "You think it's possible?" I look around as everyone's eyes are on me. I realize I'm the one who said it. "It is, not without a little patience and pain though." He seemed to enjoy saying this as he smiles. My skin start to turn back to it's light tan as I see Ellie and Mellies glow fade.
"It should be enough." Mellie says as she leans on Ellie, looking exhausted. I look back at Cale and see him looking normal again as he stands up. I stand as well as the doctor claps his hands. "Now that we have the first test out of the way... I shall let you all play." He walks away before disappearing once again, yet I watch him press a button and many toys fall from the ceiling and come up from the ground.
Some are playgrounds for the younger children from 8-13, while other toys I assume are for the older children, like me. There's a pool, dart boards and many game stations. "Come to our elements side." "There is still sides, even in here?" "She's only really talking about the hot springs."
Ellie drags me towards some rock pools, that bubble continuously. "Come in." She tells me and I look around and watch everyone do much like what we do outside the bubble. They stay with their own elements and pay together. "Lia!" Ellie whines as I spot Cale and his elements laying on snow hills.
He looks back at me before I turn away and go inside the pool. It sizzles as my foot touches it before I sink into it. "I should have brought a bathing suit." I say as the water is buried up to my neck. "We don't need them as we'll dry quickly once we're out." "Really?" "You've yet to take a shower, right?" "I've only been here a few days, I was going to tonight." I say sheepishly as Ellie and Mellie give me a disgusted look.
"You'll see once we get out, though we do have swim suits back at the house if you really do wish to wear one." "I didn't see any in my closet." "It's in the drawers beside your bed, as are other necessities." I nod my head and lean back as I relax. "You've now met Cale, what do you think of him?" I'm surprised by Mellie asking me this question as I was almost asleep.
"What do you mean?" "I'd want to ask about the power you felt from him when you touched but I'm rather curious about your fascination with him." "Fascination?" "I don't-" "We all saw it." Ellie says with a smile as she splashes some water at me. "You like him, don't you." "I don't even know him." "You don't have to know someone to feel a connection." Mellie says that as if it's a fact known by most people.
"You talk as if you've experienced it." I change the topic and Mellie notices but shrugs anyway. "It's possible." She seems to be in deep thought before she looks over to where Ricky is. He's playing hot potato with lava rocks, with Boon and Harry. "You like him?" I question and Mellie quickly looks away. "Why don't you ask him out, get to know him?" "What are you talking about?" "I can't."
She gets out of the pool and I watch as she glows slightly before she's completely dry in seconds. Is that how it works? I hear Ellie huff before she's getting out of the pool as well. "She didn't mean anything by it." "She doesn't know about-" Her words get cut off as she chases after Mellie, distancing herself from my hearing.
Did I say something wrong? I decide not to dwell on it as I swim in the small pool. I turn till I'm facing the other elements and look at them all. I'm surprised about how we're all acting as if we're on vacation when we're actually rats stuck in a cage. "You remember, don't you?" I hear a girls soft voice and jump at seeing one of the water elements sitting near me.
She's calmly waving her hand over the steam and I see her feet look dry and cracked as she squats. She shouldn't be over here. "Why are you here?" "You remember." "They've all forgot or simply don't care." "Remember?" "Your family and the outside world." "It wasn't glamorous for any of us but we still had homes and families."
"You see... the days in here are longer than out there." "Everyone here has started to forget, not you though." "Or you." I say with a smile and the girl who couldn't be older than 10 smiles back. "I still remember my mother and father hugging and crying as they took me away." "I told them I'd be strong, yet I feared for my safety as my older brother was taken 5 years prior and is now dead."
My heart sank at her words. She lost her brother and her parents lost their children. "I'll never forget." "Luna!?" I hear a voice call and Cale appears before the little girl and I. "You shouldn't be here." "Go back to our elements side." "I'm starting to get the feeling that most elements don't mingle." I say as the little girl named Luna runs away happily. "They don't." Cale says as he stands above me.
