Elemental

Chapter 4

I wake to the sound of Ellie's laughter as I roll out of bed. "Ellie?" I question as I rub my eyes and swing my feet of the bed, onto the ground. I feel something hot and look down to see lava engulfing my feet. "Ah!" I scream as footsteps are heard in the distance. "Lia?" Mellie asks me before she looks from my face, to me my feet.

"It happens." She shrugs Ellie starts to laugh. "We thought it was something serious." "This house is changing all the time." "The first few days here, I woke up to lava covering my body." "This didn't concern you." "The doctor told us that it's to replenish our loss of power." "It recharges us and it feels quite nice, doesn't it?"

"It does..." I wiggle my feet and feel the lava flow through my toes. " You can't play all day." Mellie groans as she looks at a clock on my wall, one I didn't realize was there. "We'll be meeting up with the others today." "Others?" " You must retain information better." "The other elements." "We usually see them once a week but the doctor left a message saying it will be increased now that hes found all his specimens."

"What does this mean for us?" "It seems we're in for more experiments." "At least Cale will there." "Cale?" "You can never keep your mouth shut." Mellie says to Ellie as she grabs her hands, pulling her out of my room. "You didn't answer my question!" I yell as Mellie answer me. "Come outside and find out."

I look at the clothes I have on as it's the same red dress I've had on, yet I look and see something hanging in a wardrobe near me. It seems to be red and black clothes. I reach out and touch it, to feel it's warm like the rest of the house. I'd assume this material is best suited for our abilities. It's also then that I feel a crack near the small wardrobe and realize it's a bathroom.

I'd used one in the hall, yet I have my own? I decide to quickly shower, change and quickly dry my curly hair enough so that it doesn't stick to me. I then run through the halls of this maze like house before getting down stairs and through the door.

I take a look around and see many people walking from their elemental houses. Some appear to be around the same age as me as others are younger. I see the ones exiting the earth house is dressed in green, while the air house is dressed in white and grey. I see there is a theme to this, if only I could see the water house. It happens to be directly across from the fire house and I won't see it until I enter the bubble.

I walk forward and get a few looks from the other houses and see them pointing at me. It must be because I'm the new kid. "She's the one, the one like Cale." I'm proven wrong as that name is mentioned again. Who is Cale? I'm more determined than ever to find out as I walk into the bubble and see everyone inside.

There's more people inside than I expected. I look around and realize there must be around 25 people here. I also take notice how there's more fire elements than I first thought as I see Mellie and Ellie talking to a group of guys.

They see me looking and wave me over. "There's more of us?" I ask as they all laugh. "You'll never see us unless we're in here as the good doctor likes to keep the girls and boys separated." "You do still live in the house then?" "We do, it's just our entrance is on the side of the house."

"Now that you're all caught up, how about introductions." "Boon, Harry and I'm Ricky." He gestures towards himself and sticks out his hand. I reach forward as the girls push me back and away from them. "Ricky!" Mellie scolds as she glares at him. He sits down on the bench, with a shrug. "My curiosity got the best of me." "I do apologize to the almighty Lia."

"So you know my name?" I ask as Mellie and Ellie let go of me. "Now why did you guys just push me away from him?" I look at both of them and Ricky smirks. "Strong emotions set off our abilities and if I were to touch you with the way I'm feeling..." He looks me up and down in a way that could only be described as lust.

"He caused me to get a fever that lasted all day, just the other week." Mellie says and I see them glaring at each other before Ricky playfully smiles at her. "I wanted to test the newbie out and with the gossip going around... I thought it would be exciting." "You thought you could take her." Boon says as he scoffs and Harry laughs.

"Well if Cale is anything to go by..." "Who is Cale?" I ask once again as a guy walks into the bubble, appearing to be the last to arrive. "Here he comes now." I feel my heart drop as panic sets in. All anyone can talk about is him, what if he is a horrible person? I could feel my head start to burn as my auburn hair seemed to brighten as my skin glows lightly.

"You must calm down." Mellie reminds me, yet I only brighten more as the one they call Cale walks towards me. What does he want? Will he kill me? Why is everyone scared of him? "Don't take another step." The doctors voice is loud and clear, yet all I can focus on is Cale. His hair is long, white as his eyes are crystal blue. His stature is prominent, as is his slim figure as he stops gracefully at the command of the doctors voice.

"Lia?" His voice rings out and I realize it's the same as in the house. It must be some kind of speaker. "I see you now." He can see us in here? "Move to the center." Everyone clears my path as Cale and I get a better view of each other. His eyes take me in as I walk towards him, with my glowing aura and dark red dress flowing behind me.

His own aura of blue starts to shine through his hair and body and I realize he's a water element. "This is exciting, is it not?" The doctor says as everyone backs away from the center, where we're now facing each other, only a few feet apart. I see the rise of a bubble as I know the doctor is to trap us in. Cale looks at it as well before looking back at me.

I assumed Cale to be evil, yet I see a hint of fear in his eyes as the bubble closes around us. I wasn't sure if his fear is directed towards me or the doctor. "Do wrap her in your arms Cale." His eyes widen at the doctors command and I realize in that moment that his fear is directed at both of us, yet why was I suddenly not afraid?
