Jake I took my time, or at least I tried to. The beast inside of me didn't want to hear it. He wanted to mate her, make Alice ours. But I had to keep control. I could smell her. I could smell her scent and it was the sweetest of honey I have ever smelled. I wanted to taste it, wanted to go down on her and make her climax around my tongue. I felt her panic, could hear it in her breathing. Her heartbeat was not of one who was enjoying the feeling of being touched. Whoever did this to her would pay. She was scared. Any normal woman would have already tried to take advantage, pleaded for more. But not Alice. "I won't hurt you....ever. You have my word" And I meant every single word. I wouldn't hurt her. I want to make sure she was loved right. And adored. I heard the commotion before it was at my door. When the door opened to reveal Henry, I wanted to rip his head off. He was banned from Darkness a year ago for breaking the rules of the club. He almost sent a girl to the hospital. If Horatio wasn't doing his rounds, making sure everything was going the way it was supposed to, he would never have found the girl pleading for Hyde to let her go. I wasn't there. Haven't been there for at least two years when the incident occurred. I was back home with the rest of my brothers. Seeing Henry stand in the door of my room with an evil grin on his face. I knew exactly why Alice was so afraid of being intimate. "Hello Brother" I took one step towards him. "Get out before I rip your head from your shoulders" I felt my eyes change, being very close to causing havoc in front of Alice. "Come now, you think I came here to fight? Though I wouldn't have minded. I actually came here to warn you" Seeing Alice stand from the corner of my eye, taking off her shoes; she ran for the bathroom. Hearing it lock, could hear her starting to cry. A panic attack. "What the f**k did you do to her?" I asked lividly. "I didn't do anything. She just wasn't a good little slut" I growled at him. "Never call her that again. I will give you one more chance Henry. Leave or I will shift and rip your head off" Henry laughed at me before crossing his arms. "I didn't come here to fight. I came here to warn you. She is damaged goods. She would never have cubs. And she will never f**k anybody." He looked me up and down before lifting a brow. "How sweet you actually think you can save her. No dear brother. I made sure nobody would be able to save her" Before I could shift, he held up a hand. "Don't bother" Uncrossing his arms he turned on his heels and walked out. Leaving the door open. I ran out the door planning on going after him, but he was already gone. Closing the door blocking out the techno music that was now playing, I rushed to the bathroom door. Everything in me wanted to rip the door off the hinges. "Alice...open the door please" I begged' trying to open the door. I reached for the keys that lay on the side table at the door, hearing Alice's breathing become shallow. I opened the door seeing her crossed-legged on the floor. With two quick strides, I picked her up and held her as she tried to calm her breathing. I kept her in my arms while she cried her hands in fists. I swear if I see Henry again I will kill him. I don't care if the Elders find out. He hurt her. And I will make sure he never does that ever again. Alice's breathing slowed as did her heart rate. She opened her now puffy eyes and sniffed. "Jekyll" She spoke softly, her voice almost gone. "It's okay, he is gone" I told her. She sniffed again and moved a bit. I let her go and she stood up. She wiped her tears, fixed her corset, and turned away. I stood up and placed my hand on her arm. She shifted out of reach. "I'm Sorry" She walked past me, took her shoes, and headed for the door. I walked after her. "Don't go" I wanted to hold her there, keep her safe. "I can't stay...." She shook her head. "I-" I saw a tear roll down her cheek and I took a few steps towards her. She held up a hand. "Please not tonight" I stopped in my tracks, my bear wanting to not let her go. But I had to respect her wishes. Opening the door, she let her shoes down and walked to me. She lifted a shaky hand and placed it on my chest. "Thank you" She stood on her toes then kissed me on the cheek. I took her hand. "I can't let you go in this manner." I told her. "Please, just let me go. I will be fine." She wasn't I could tell. I let her hand go, the bear in me again regretting that I would let her walk out. She turned, picked up her shoes on the way out, and left me standing in the middle of the room. A few moments pass, I couldn't go after her. She already had a bad evening and I didn't want to force her. Nor did I want her to get frightened by me. I walked out of the room, closed the door behind me, and walked to Horatio's room. I knocked twice before the door opened. Horatio gave me a concerned look before stepping out of the way. I walked in and turned his way. "Henry showed up" I told him. "f*****g security. I told them not to let the man pass" "Well he did and he caused Alice to have a panic attack" Horatio gave me a look of question. "Where is she now?" I huffed and raked a hand through my hair. "I had to let her go. She refused to stay and the way she reacted. I want to know everything that had happened in her past." Horatio nodded and walked to the bathroom door. He knocked and then looked inside. A few moments later Lena came walking out in a silk nightgown. "Jake, what's going on?" Lena asked. "Hopefully home. She refused to stay after Hyde showed up" Lena's eyes widened. "Hyde....as in Henry....Shit" She looked from me to Horatio and then back at me. "Please don't tell me you two know each other" "We're brothers" I told her flatly. "Oh gods" Lena shook her head. "Was she okay when she left?" Glad she didn't ask if we did anything, I crossed my arms. "I don't think she was Lena. I have to find her." Walking to the desk Horatio had in his office, she grabbed a pen and came back. She took my hand and wrote down Alice's number. "I only ask one thing, Jake. Don't hurt her. If you're going to go after her, promise me you're playing for keeps. I do not want to see her regret trusting you" The pen was digging into my skin as she spoke. with every indent she made, I knew there was more to this than what lay in their eyes. "I promise." Horatio came and stood next to Lena before kissing her on the head. "Give her two days. Give her time to just heal from it. Then call her" I nodded in agreement. "Thanks, Lena" I walked out of the room, took out my phone, saved the number, and headed for my car. I needed to shift, needed to calm the bear inside and most of all not go and kill my i***t brother.
