The night everything changed
The rain fell heavily that night, washing away the noise of the city, but not the chaos in Amara’s heart.
She stood outside the grand hotel, her dress soaked, her makeup ruined, and her world shattered.
Just minutes ago, she had watched the man she loved her fiancé slide a ring onto another woman’s finger.
Right in front of everyone.
Right in front of her.
“Amara, it’s not what you think…” he had said.
But she didn’t stay to listen.
She ran.
Now here she was… alone, shaking, and completely broken.
“Why does this always happen to me?” she whispered, hugging herself as tears mixed with the rain.
A sleek black car suddenly pulled up in front of her.
She ignored it.
But then the window rolled down.
“Get in.”
The voice was deep. Calm. Commanding.
Amara frowned. “Excuse me?”
“I said, get in. You’ll catch a cold.”
She turned, annoyed, ready to insult the stranger but the words died in her throat.
The man inside the car looked… powerful.
Sharp jawline. Cold eyes. Expensive suit. The kind of man who didn’t ask twice.
“I don’t know you,” she said cautiously.
“And yet you’re standing in the rain at midnight,” he replied. “Clearly, you don’t make the best decisions.”
Her pride flared.
“I’m fine.”
He studied her for a moment… then sighed.
“Suit yourself.”
The car began to move.
But suddenly “Wait!”
Amara surprised even herself.
The man stopped.
She hesitated… then opened the door and got in.
The warmth of the car wrapped around her instantly.
Silence filled the space.
“Where to?” he asked.
She looked down at her hands.
“I… I don’t have anywhere to go.”
For the first time, his expression changed.
Slightly.
“Then you’re coming with me.”
Her head snapped up. “What?!”
“Relax,” he said calmly. “I’m not interested in whatever drama you came from.”
She narrowed her eyes. “Then why help me?”
He leaned back, his gaze unreadable.
“Because I hate seeing useless men hurt women who deserve better.”
Her heart skipped.
“Who are you?” she asked softly.
He looked at her…
And for a moment, the world seemed to pause.
“My name is Adrian King.”
Amara’s eyes widened.
Everyone knew that name.
The youngest billionaire in the city.
Cold. Untouchable. Dangerous.
And somehow…
She was sitting in his car.
As the car drove into the night, Amara had no idea her life had just changed forever.
