Chapter four

1000 Words
I had strong proof and was very angry. It was time to face Liam. I couldn't live with his lies anymore. I waited for him in our nice apartment. This place used to feel like our love story, but now it felt like a prison. The expensive furniture and the city view, once so romantic, now was ugly. My sighs persisted. “Huh… hmm.” I waited. Every minute felt like forever, making me angrier. I held my phone tightly, my knuckles white. The screen showed the bad files I found—proof of his lies. Rachel had told me to be careful, but I was past caring about being careful. I was furious. My fear had turned into a cold, strong will. I wasn't scared of him anymore. I was sick of him. Liam came in almost an hour late. His usual smile looked sneaky. His strong presence, which used to be charming, now felt like it was choking me. He threw his keys on the marble counter. He looked at me, expecting me to be waiting. “Hey, beautiful," he said. His voice was smooth and easy, like nothing was wrong. He acted like I hadn't just found out about his whole criminal business. He walked towards me, taking off his suit jacket, looking powerful. "Long day at the office. Missed me?" My voice shook, but I made it firm and loud. "Liam," I said, looking him straight in the eyes. "We need to talk. Right now." His smile disappeared a little. He paused, noticing my unusual tone. "Talk? About what, baby? Did you finally realize you miss me too much? I told you, that interview thing was just a big mistake. We can fix it." He took a step towards me, reaching out his hand, trying to get back his charming control. I quickly stepped back. My body stiffened. "Don't touch me." My voice, though shaking, had a new strength. "I know everything, Liam. Absolutely everything." His eyebrows moved, a quick moment of real confusion before his face turned hard. "Everything? What are you talking about, Sophia? Are you still mad about the interview? I told you, I can explain that. It was just a test. To see how you handle stress." He tried to brush me off, to make my worries seem small. "Explain this!" I cut him off, my voice rising, holding up my phone. On the screen, the emails between him and Indie showed a fake business arrangement. "Tell us, Liam, what is your real business? What is your link with Indie? How have you exploited weak people and companies for money? Explain why you used me, just like you use so many others!" A strange silence filled the air of the living room. Liam's carefully maintained composure was now completely gone. His usual attractive eyes narrowed and turned hard. For a moment, something came into his eyes-fear? Regret? shock? A tiny c***k in the carefully constructed appearance. It was swept away quickly by a surge of cold anger. "Did you go through my laptop?" he growled. "How dare you! Do you know what you are doing? You could set us back forever!" "You set us back!" I fired back, my heart in my throat and refusing to take a step back. There was fear, but the anger was stronger. "I know you are more than a cheat. You are a criminal, Liam. A very serious culprit. And Indie is not just your other woman; she's fully cooperating with you to scheme for the bad plans.” The fight grew into a huge battle. It was my broken love against his betrayal, my innocent trust against his clever lies. Liam, the master of tricks, tried to make me doubt myself. His voice was fake and calm. "You're crazy, Sophia! You're imagining things. This is all a misunderstanding. Indie is just a work friend. You're just being emotional!" He tried hard to twist my words, to make me doubt my own mind, to get back control of the situation and me. He moved closer, trying to scare me, but I stood my ground. But I, with my new strength, stood firm. I had the clear proof. I knew the truth. "Don't you dare try to confuse me, Liam," I whispered, my voice full of feeling, but steady. "I have the proof. It's all here, on my phone. Every lie, every plan, every single detail of your criminal business." He rushed forward then, not to hurt me, but to grab the phone. His hand shot out. I quickly pulled it away, holding it close to my chest like a shield. His face was twisted in pure, strong rage. "Give me that! You're going to ruin everything I've built!" "You ruined everything, Liam!" I screamed. All the pain from his lies, the terrible loss of trust, hit me like a huge wave. All the hurt, all the shame, all the wasted hope came pouring out. "You ruined us! You ruined me! And I won't let you get away with it!" Our relationship ended right then. The love I believed in, turned to dust. The future I had imagined with him disappeared. My voice, now clear and strong, finally ended the tension. "Get out, Liam. Get out of my apartment. Get out of my life. I never want to see you again." He stared at me. His angry green eyes showed disbelief. He saw the cold strength in my eyes, the broken trust that could never be fixed. He knew he had lost. “Huh…” Only a sigh escaped his mouth. He rushed into his car, and I knew a chapter was completely over. He was going to leave me just as I asked him to. Really? I was left alone in the mess, but I felt a strange, fierce sense of victory mixed with deep, raw pain. I had finally taken back my power and my dignity from the man who had tried to take everything.
