It all happened so fast. The driver slammed on the brakes. I felt my head hit the seat ahead of me. I wake up what must be a few seconds later to the loudest snarl I’ve ever heard. I turn and see Eric leaned against the left window, he seems to be unconscious still. I look up front, the driver is no where to be seen. His door is wide open. I try to sit up, there’s a sharp pain in my side. Come on Maddie, get up we’re in danger, my wolf tells me. I fight the pain and open the door. Stepping out, I see an incredibly large grey wolf on the left side of the vehicle. His eyes are focused on the driver, who is kneeling on the ground before the wolf. The wolf shifts, his pack hiding in the bushes. I see their eyes glistening. He pulls a pair of shorts out of the bush and approaches the driver. He’s younger, about nineteen I’d say. He has black hair and blue eyes and his mouth is in a snarl. Quite menacing, he must be a beta.
“What are you doing bringing rogues into our territory?”
“M-my boss had requested I pick him and the wolf up from the station sir.” The driver squeaked.
“Your boss? Who does he think he is, not consulting with the pack before bringing rogues”
“Ah Dakota, pleased to see you again. I think there’s been a little mix up.” I hear Eric calmly talking to the wolf as he steps from the car.
As soon as the wolf, Dakota sees Eric I watch his demeanour change. His snarl turns to a smile and his eyes soften.
“Eric! I wasn’t aware you were back. You could have saved us some trouble.” He chuckles. “Nonetheless, what in the moon goddess are you doing with a rogue?”
I hear a low growl come from my throat. If they plan on killing me it’s not going to happen.
“So you do have a voice rogue.”
I go to take a step forward but Eric signals for me to stop.
“Dakota, I plan on bringing Madison to my clan. I consider her a friend.”
“Madison eh?” The wolf Dakota raises an eyebrow at me. “I know you mean well Eric. I think we should make sure Kane approves first.”
Eric sighs. “I suppose a little detour won’t hurt us too much.”
“Come louve, let’s appease the hounds.” I chuckle and walk to Eric. I see their entire packs eyes are following me. We begin walking.
“It will be faster if you shift rogue.” Dakota states with a frown.
I glance around. If I shift they are going to judge me more. I know I’m not the the same as most wolves, in fact I’m the only pure white wolf I’ve ever seen.
“My name is Madison. Maybe if you showed me some respect I’d take your advice.” I saunter on.
I hear Eric and a couple of the wolves following us snort. Dakota emits a low growl. “Damn rogues.”
We’ve been heading West for about twenty minutes, in a dense forest. Following what appears to be a game trail. My legs are pretty tired. Eric must have noticed. “Almost there.” He whispers. His hand coming up to touch my arm with a smile. I sense Dakota standing beside him, his eyes glued to our every move. I pull away slightly. We’re just friends after all, he isn’t my mate. Soon we reach what appears to be a clearing. We climb up a small hill and there is the pack house. The front of the house is nestled in the trees, almost composed solely of windows on all four stories in a contemporary style. It’s breath taking. I see behind the pack house is a small village. People begin to crowd around the front of the house, clearly wondering what we are doing here. My nerves get the best of me and I stop just before the end of the clearing.
“Get going rouge, the alpha is waiting.” Dakota says coldly.
I sigh and take a deep breath. The pack is surrounding us now, there’s no escape. Worst case I fight for my freedom, it won’t be the first time. Here goes nothing.
