Bound to the Billionaire. She needed a job. He needed a wife. Neither expected to fall in love.
Chapter 1 — The Billionaire's Offer Rain hammered against the windows of the small apartment. Amelia Carter sat on the edge of her bed, staring at the letter in her trembling hands. FINAL NOTICE. She swallowed hard. The rent was already three months overdue. Her mother's medical bills were piling up. And the little savings her father had left behind were almost gone. Her phone suddenly rang. "Hello?" "Ms. Carter?" a deep male voice asked. "Yes?" "This is Blackwood Enterprises. Mr. Alexander Blackwood would like to interview you for the position of personal assistant." Amelia froze. Alexander Blackwood. Everyone in the city knew that name. At only thirty-two, he was one of the richest and most powerful businessmen in the country. He was also known for being ruthless. "I'll come," Amelia replied. Two hours later, Amelia stood in front of a huge glass building. She looked down at her inexpensive dress and took a nervous breath. "You need this job." She walked inside. The receptionist immediately looked up. "Name?" "Amelia Carter. I'm here for Mr. Blackwood." The woman's expression changed. "Twenty-seventh floor." The elevator doors opened. Amelia stepped inside. When the doors closed, she suddenly felt nervous. Then the elevator stopped. Ding. The doors opened. A tall man stood on the other side. Black suit. Cold eyes. Perfectly styled dark hair. Amelia's heart stopped for a second. Alexander Blackwood. He looked at her from head to toe. "You're late." Amelia glanced at her watch. "I'm actually five minutes early." His eyebrow lifted. "Interesting." He turned and walked away. "Follow me." Amelia hurried after him. His office was enormous. He sat behind a black marble desk while she remained standing. "I've read your résumé," he said. "Yes, sir." "You have no experience working for someone like me." "I learn quickly." "I don't tolerate mistakes." "I don't make many." For the first time, something resembling amusement appeared in his eyes. "Confident." "I need the job." Alexander leaned back. "Why?" Amelia hesitated. "Because I need money." He studied her silently. Then he pushed a document across the desk. "I'll pay you three times the salary you requested." Amelia stared at him. "Why?" "Because I have another proposal." Her heart began beating faster. "What kind of proposal?" Alexander stood. He walked around the desk until he was standing directly in front of her. "I need a wife." Amelia's mouth fell open. "What?" "A temporary wife." She laughed nervously. "You can't be serious." "I am." He placed another document in front of her. Marriage Agreement. Amelia stared at it. "Six months," he said. "You marry me. In return, I'll pay you five million dollars." Her eyes widened. "Five... million?" "Yes." "But why me?" Alexander's expression suddenly became unreadable. "Because you have something I need." "What?" He leaned closer. "Trust." Amelia looked at the contract. Then at him. She had come to his company looking for a job. Now the most powerful man in the city was asking her to become his wife. She slowly picked up the pen. "Mr. Blackwood..." "Yes?" "If I agree to this..." She looked directly into his eyes. "...what happens if we actually fall in love?" For the first time, Alexander's confident expression disappeared. He didn't answer. And that frightened Amelia more than anything. To be continued... CHAPTER 2 — HER FATHER'S SECRET Amelia stared at the photograph. It showed her father standing beside Alexander's father. Her hands began to shake. "Why would my father be here?" She turned the photograph over. Written on the back were the words: "Never trust Daniel Carter." Her father's name. Daniel Carter. "Looking for something?" Amelia jumped. Alexander stood in the doorway. She quickly placed the photograph down. "Who is my father to you?" Alexander's face hardened. "He was a business partner." "That's not what this says." Alexander walked toward her. "Your father betrayed my family." Amelia shook her head. "My father wasn't a traitor." "You didn't know everything about him." Alexander took the photograph. "Neither did you." CHAPTER 3 — THE WEDDING Three days later, Amelia stood beside Alexander in a private courthouse. There were no flowers. No music. No romance. Just signatures. When the judge declared them husband and wife, Alexander quietly whispered: "Remember, this is only business." Amelia looked at him. "Then don't look at me like that." His eyes met hers. For several seconds, neither spoke. Then Alexander looked away. "Let's go home, Mrs. Blackwood." Those words sent an unexpected shiver through her. CHAPTER 4 — THE BLACKWOOD MANSION Alexander's mansion was bigger than anything Amelia had ever imagined. A housekeeper showed her to her bedroom. "Mr. Blackwood instructed that you have everything you need." Amelia smiled weakly. "Does he always give orders?" The housekeeper smiled. "Always." That night, Amelia couldn't sleep. She walked downstairs for water. As she passed Alexander's study, she heard voices. "She's Daniel Carter's daughter," a man said. Alexander answered: "I know." "You can't fall for her." Silence. Then Alexander said: "That's not going to happen." Amelia's heart sank. She returned to her room. But she didn't hear the final sentence. Alexander whispered: "Because I'm already falling." CHAPTER 5 — THE JEALOUS EX The next morning, a beautiful woman arrived. She walked directly into the mansion as if she owned it. "Alexander!" He turned. "Victoria." She looked at Amelia. "Who's she?" Alexander calmly answered: "My wife." Victoria's smile disappeared. "Your what?" Amelia stepped forward. "His wife." Victoria stared at her with hatred. "You can't be serious." Alexander took Amelia's hand. "We're very serious." Victoria left angrily. But before leaving, she whispered to Amelia: "You have no idea what you've married into." CHAPTER 6 — THE FIRST KISS Alexander and Amelia attended their first public event together. Cameras flashed everywhere. "Smile," Alexander whispered. "I'm trying." "You're terrible at pretending." "So are you." He smiled. For the first time, Amelia saw something different in him. Not the billionaire. Just a man. Later that night, they stood alone on the balcony. "You were beautiful tonight," Alexander said. Amelia looked at him. "Was that part of the contract?" "No." He stepped closer. Their faces were inches apart. Then he kissed her. Amelia froze. But instead of pushing him away, she closed her eyes. For a moment, the contract didn't exist. Neither did the lies. CHAPTER 7 — THE LETTER The next morning, Amelia found an envelope under her bedroom door. Inside was a letter. Your father didn't betray Alexander's family. Her heart raced. Another line followed: Alexander knows the truth. Ask him about the night your father disappeared. Amelia ran downstairs. "Alexander!" He turned. "What's wrong?" She threw the letter onto the table. "What happened to my father?" Alexander stared at the paper. His face became pale. "Where did you get this?" "Answer me!" He finally whispered: "Your father didn't disappear." Amelia's blood ran cold. "Then where is he?" Alexander looked at her. "I don't know." CHAPTER 8 — THE ENEMY Alexander discovered that someone had broken into his company. Millions of dollars were missing. Security footage showed a familiar face. Victoria. Alexander confronted her. "You betrayed me." Victoria laughed. "You betrayed me first." "I never loved you." Her expression changed. "Then you'll regret choosing Amelia." That night, Amelia received another message. If you want your father alive, leave Alexander. CHAPTER 8 — THE ENEMY Alexander discovered that someone had broken into his company. CHAPTER 9 — THE ABDUCTION Amelia refused to tell Alexander about the message. She believed she could solve it herself. That was her mistake. On her way home, a black vehicle stopped beside her. Two men grabbed her. She screamed. A cloth covered her mouth. Everything went dark. When Alexander discovered she was missing, something inside him broke. "Find her." His security chief hesitated. "Sir—" "I SAID FIND MY WIFE!" For the first time, everyone saw the billionaire lose control. CHAPTER 10 — THE HIDDEN ROOM Amelia woke in an abandoned warehouse. A man stood in front of her. She recognized him. Alexander's uncle, Richard Blackwood. "You?" He smiled. "Your father discovered what we were doing." "What did you do to him?" Richard laughed. "He refused to cooperate." Amelia's eyes filled with tears. "Where is he?" Richard leaned closer. "He's closer than you think." Suddenly the door opened. An elderly man entered. Amelia stopped breathing. "Dad?" CHAPTER 11 — HER FATHER Daniel Carter was alive. Older. Weaker. But alive. "Dad!" Amelia ran toward him. He hugged her. "I'm sorry, sweetheart." "Why did you leave me?" "I was protecting you." Daniel explained that Richard had been secretly stealing money from both families. He had discovered the truth. Richard framed him. Alexander's father believed the lie. "Then why didn't Alexander know?" Daniel looked at her sadly. "Because his father died before I could prove everything." CHAPTER 12 — THE RESCUE Alexander tracked Amelia to the warehouse. Gunshots echoed. He fought through Richard's men. "AMELIA!" "I'm here!" Alexander found her. For a moment they simply stared at each other. Then Amelia ran into his arms. "I thought I'd lost you." He held her tightly. "I thought I'd lost you too." Richard escaped. But Daniel was rescued. CHAPTER 13 — THE TRUTH Daniel showed Alexander the evidence. Bank records. Secret accounts. Recorded conversations. Everything pointed to Richard. Alexander stared at the documents. "My father blamed you for years." Daniel nodded. "I know." Alexander lowered his head. "I'm sorry." Daniel placed a hand on his shoulder. "Protect my daughter. That's all I ask." Alexander looked at Amelia. "I will." CHAPTER 14 — THE CONTRACT Six months had passed. Amelia placed the original marriage contract on Alexander's desk. "The six months are over." Alexander stared at her. "So they are." She smiled sadly. "I suppose we should get divorced." Alexander stood. "Do you want that?" Amelia looked away. "No." He walked toward her. "Neither do I." "But our agreement—" "I don't care about the agreement anymore." He took the contract. Then he tore it in half. CHAPTER 15 — THE CONFESSION "I love you, Amelia." She stared at him. "Say it again." "I love you." Tears filled her eyes. "I love you too." Alexander kissed her. This time there was no contract. No business arrangement. No pretending. Only love. CHAPTER 16 — THE FINAL CONFRONTATION Richard returned with one final plan. He attempted to take control of Blackwood Enterprises. But Alexander was ready. The evidence was given to the authorities. Richard was arrested. Victoria also confessed to helping him. The nightmare was finally over. Alexander walked outside. Amelia was waiting. "Is it finished?" He smiled. "Yes." She hugged him. "Finally." CHAPTER 17 — A NEW BEGINNING Daniel moved into the Blackwood mansion. For the first time in years, Amelia had her family together. Alexander surprised her one evening. "I have something for you." He handed her a small box. Inside was a beautiful ring. Amelia stared at it. "We're already married." "I know." He smiled. "But our first wedding wasn't real." He got down on one knee. "Amelia Carter, will you marry me?" She laughed through her tears. "Yes." CHAPTER 18 — THE REAL WEDDING The wedding was completely different. Flowers covered the garden. Music filled the air. Daniel walked Amelia down the aisle. Alexander waited at the end. When he saw her, his eyes filled with tears. She whispered: "Why are you crying?" "Because I finally got the woman I thought I'd lost." They exchanged rings. "I promise to love you," Alexander said. "I promise to stay," Amelia replied. They kissed. Everyone applauded. CHAPTER 19 — ONE YEAR LATER One year later, Amelia stood on the balcony of their home. She placed a hand over her stomach. "Alexander!" He rushed outside. "What happened?" She smiled. "We're going to have a baby." Alexander froze. "Are you serious?" She nodded. He lifted her into his arms. "Our family." "Our family," she repeated. CHAPTER 20 — THE LAST CHAPTER Three years later, the mansion was filled with laughter. A little girl ran through the garden. "Daddy!" Alexander chased after her. "Slow down!" Amelia watched them from the balcony. She smiled. Once, she had believed her life was over. She had lost her father. She had struggled with money. She had entered a marriage that was supposed to last only six months. Instead, that marriage had changed everything. Alexander walked toward her carrying their daughter. "Are you happy?" he asked. Amelia looked at the man she had once feared. Then at their daughter. Then at the home they had built together. "More than I ever imagined." Alexander kissed her forehead. "Do you remember what you asked me when we first met?" Amelia laughed. "What happens if we actually fall in love?" She looked into his eyes. "And you never answered." He smiled. "I was afraid." "Of what?" "Of loving you so much that I couldn't imagine my life without you." Amelia wrapped her arms around him. "And now?" Alexander kissed her. "Now I know I never have to." The sun slowly disappeared beyond the horizon. The billionaire who had once believed love was a weakness had finally learned the truth. Love wasn't his weakness. It was the greatest fortune he had ever possessed. THE END ❤️
