Chapter 13- Cocky

1293 Words
Dianne was smiling wide as she walked towards her brother's office. She was glad to know Andrea was working in their company. ‘What a small world.’ She even learned that Andrea was the very same person who helped Damien to solve the embezzlement issue. “What indeed a small world!” she mumbled, huffing.     Charlene mentioned he was busy, but it's lunchtime. Diane can't blame her brother for focusing too much on his works. Their mom was still pressuring the s**t out of him for marrying a b*tch of a woman.     Diane silently sneaked on his door, checking what her dearest brother was doing. He was busy reading and looking intently at the papers on his hand. She smugly grinned.     “Hola! my dear brother!”  Dianne greeted as she burst-opened her brother’s office door. Damien bolted out from his seat upon hearing his sister's voice.     “What the f**k are you doing here?!” He exclaimed out. He wasn’t expecting anyone here, let alone shouting at him.     “Hello to you too, big bro, and yes, I came here to visit you and check if you're still alive and kicking,”  Dianne replied. It had been a while since they had seen each other.     Damien's death glared at his sister. He almost shitted his pants out of surprise.     “I hate you,” he said, shaking his head, sitting down on his swivel chair.     “And I hate you more! how’s my hot bro?”     Damien chuckled. Of course, he missed Diane’s presence in his life, too. He was becoming a workaholic lately, trying to work out if his mom’s threatening words can be solved.     “I’m fine, sis, come,”  He said, standing up again and greeted Dianne with a tight hug. It was constricting her that she almost ran out of breath.     Dianne coughed from the close hug her brother did. She knew he was unserious. “D…Damien stopped!” She whisper-yelled. Damien let go of her then laughed.     “That’s what you get surprising the s**t out of me.”     “Shut up!” Dianne said before sitting down on his receiver chair.     “What’s your business?”Damien asked.     “Nothing, I miss you!”     “I just saw you yesterday!”     “Yeah, I know, video chat. I want to see my brother in the flesh.”     “Well, I'm still handsome…”     “and cocky…” Diane added.      “and hot…How is it going? How’s mom?” Damien chuckled.     “You are always. Mom is okay. You know her, Jastin was in our house last night, the usual, chatting with mom.”     “And?” Damien knew it was another plot of his mom. His mom asked him to get something last night at home, and he knew his mom was up to something on her sleeves. That was why he didn’t budge to go over to their mansion.     “Glad you didn’t come.”     “Yes, I knew it. Mom was up to something on her sleeves. How many times do I have to tell her I don’t want to tie down to any woman. I'm happy with my own life!”     “Well, not unless you present her a woman in your life. By then, she might stop. Maybe, I don’t know, perhaps,” Diane said reluctantly, insinuating something as she tapped her newly made fingernails on Damien’s table.     “I have loads, and I am happy with what I have.” He said. His s****l life was active; surrounded by women to satisfy his needs wasn’t new to his mom.     “Yup, but until when? I knew what she was doing behind your back, and I'm not happy with her blackmailing.”     Damien smiled sadly. His mom threatened him to remove the shares of her brother and his uncle in the company. He had a significant amount of stock invested, plus his mom had a little bit of stake too. Taking them away might cripple the company. He knew he would bounce back once they did it, but he wasn’t sure how long. He hasn’t sought advice from Daniel since he wanted to solve it on his own.     “Yup, that’s why I'm trying to find another way to deal with that.”     “I know, big bro. You will, at least, you didn’t have anything to think about after Andrea solved your problem. I like her,” Diane said nonchalantly. She knew her brother very much, and he will overcome this ordeal.     “Andrea? You spoke. You seem to know her?”     “Yes! Remember when I told you this f*****g old man embarrassed me in front of the building?  The beautiful angel who saved my ass that day was none other than Andrea! I saw her outside before coming here. I am so happy to know she works here with you!”  Dianne said in one go.     “That was her?” Damien amazingly asked. Diane mentioned it to him ages ago, and he was so happy to know that someone stood up for his sister, and to top that, it was the same woman who had saved his ass.     “Yes! And she’s appealing. I really like her… maybe make her your wife!” Diane unflappably said.     “Are you crazy?”  Damien yelled in shock, hearing Diane’s smart mouth.     “No, I'm not,” Dianne answered, checking her long fingernails, humming.     “That woman is taken, so I don’t have a say on that,” ‘although I like her.’ He said.  He did like seeing Andy from afar. During meetings and gatherings, he couldn't help to get captivated by her pure beauty. He admired watching her, especially when she presented the bi-weekly report in front of the board and staff or how she managed to get people's attention without a sweat. Andy's bubbly and witty way of dealing with the other employees made him slowly drawn into her.     He saw Diane’s eyes gaped wide at him, and his mouth dropped open.     “What?”     “You do?”  Dianne blurted.     ‘s**t,’ Damien thought. He must've said it loud that he liked Andy.     “Well, I do. But like I told you, Andy’s taken, and I am not that kind of guy who steals women, I let them come with me freely,” he said, trying to hide his embarrassment. It was a first for him to admit what he felt towards someone, let alone blurting it out unconsciously.     “Hmmm… well, I didn’t see any ring on her finger, so you still have a chance,” Diane said. She started to root for Andy and her brother. Not expecting to know Andy was already committed to someone.     “I can't do any of that for the meantime, Yan, not the right of my way.”     “As you say, but the doors are open. Don’t let your chances slipped. As I said, Andrea is a beauty,"     “Yeah, yeah,” ‘I hope it isn't too late.’ Damien silently wished.      "Grow a spine, bro."       Damien and Diane spent the rest of the lunchtime talking and catching up. They ordered food from the cafeteria. Damien was happy at least to talk about his feelings and work stress with Diane. She was his confiding towel, and he knew she wouldn't let him down.
