It has been a week since Khalil and his men disappeared and began to look for Zoey. No one has heard from them and when questioned Amber would always say the same thing, "Everything will be fine." The only answers that have been given by the vampires residing in the pack have been that Lily is indeed a half bred. Needless to say, the council is having a field day with this and have tried to have Lily put down as they say it, but Alpha Thomas, Amber, Xavier and his father all said no to killing the child. In the end, they won because Amber threatened to kill the whole Wolf council and anyone who threatened her kind. She went as far as holding a council member against a wall and using her nail to cut the skin on his neck.
Since finding out Lily was in fact a half-bred, Marko and Amber have been working with the child and her parents. First was finding out how Carol conceived Lily and then helping Lily to control her blood lust. They discovered that Carol had a girls' night while her mate was on patrol and she slept with a powerful vampire. His identity is unknown because of the block he put on her mind, but what they do know is he is old and very powerful. He was able to wipe her mind of the encounter but also toy with the mate bond because her mate did not feel the pain of her infidelaty. This has been hard for the couple but they are trying to work through it.
Lily, however, is having the time of her life. She is learning how to manifest and use her powers even though she hasn't fully gotten them, but learning how to run really fast has her super excited. Plus, she has learned how to summon blood bags and she is always hungry. Amber has stated that this is normal and as she grows her lust will subside until she doesn't need the blood as much.
Xavier is having a hard time with everything. He hardly talks to anyone and has begun to sleep in Zoey's room. His father is afraid to leave and return to his pack because if Zoey didn't return he knew his son would lose it. No one understood how Xavier had such a connection to Zoey without them bonding.
Xavier has been asked if he can talk to Zoey but all he says is he can feel her. Right now she is okay, but that is all he knows. Until today.
Xavier's point of view
I was standing in front of the fridge with the door open trying to decide what I wanted to drink. I could hear the chattering of everyone around me but I couldn't feel any joy. My mate was missing and I had to have faith in her long lost father.
As I stood there, I grabbed the milk and shut the door. Just as I took a step, the most powerful pain I've ever experienced radiated through my body, causing me to scream in pain and drop the milk. I fell to my knees and grabbed my chest.
"Zoey," I screamed, and then my world went dark.
I heard the sound of beeping and then my father's voice.
"What the hell happened?" I heard my father say.
"I am not one hundred percent sure but the fact that both him and Amber began screaming and passed out tells me something has happened to Zoey and Khalil."
My father growled. "Is there any way to find out?"
"Not until they both wake up."
I kept my eyes closed and focused on my wolf. 'You okay?'
'Yes.'
'Can you feel her?'
'I can, but I can not link with her.'
'What happened?'
'I'm not sure. One minute everything was fine and the next I felt this intense energy burst through the bond.'
'Intresting.'
'Very, but she is not hurt or in any pain.'
'That is good.'
Suddenly I felt tired and gave in to sleep. I didn't wake up until I felt someone touching me. I sat up and looked at a nurse who was checking my vitals.
"What the hell are you doing?" I demanded as I pulled her arm off my chest.
"I am sorry, young alpha. I was checking the wires on your chest. One of them was not reading correctly."
I growled, causing her to step back and look at me. "Your eyes," she said.
"What about them?"
"I will get your father and doctor." She quickly said and ran out of the room.
It didn't take long for me to hear the quick pounding steps of my father and the doctor.
"What is wrong with us?' I asked my wolf.
'I am not sure.'
"Your awake," a man said as he entered the room. He stopped suddenly when he saw me.
"What the hell is wrong with his eyes?" my father said.
"Let me take a look. How do you feel?" The doctor asked as he approached me.
"Fine."
"And your wolf?"
'I am fine. Drained but fine.'
"He says he is fine. Drained but fine."
"Good. Do you know what happened?"
The doctor shinned a light in my eyes and I looked away hissing in pain.
"I felt pain. Unbearable pain."
"Do you know what caused it?"
I shook my head.
"I do," I heard Amber say as she walked into the room with Marko hot on her heels.
"Amber get back to bed," Marko said.
"No." She looked at me and smiled. "You and Zoey have a special bond because of what she is. Her father isn't just the vampire King, but he is part witch. His mother was a witch before she was turned, which makes him a special pure-bred vamp. Zoey is a tribird. Anyways, your link to Zoey has grown stronger because something has happened. What? I don't know but I felt the bond between Khalil and I strengthen as well. They used their witch side to link to us, causing a burst of energy to be forced through the link. It caused us pain and our eyes to change color."
"Your eyes are still red."
She blinked and suddenly they went from red to gold. "The good news is they are together. Its just a matter of time before they return."
"And if they are in trouble?"
"Then pray to the ones above."
