King Khalil's Point of View
One moment we were on the pack lands and the next we were still on the pack lands but surrounded in darkness with lit torches.
"What the hell?" One of my men said.
"What happened? Why are we still here?" Another said.
I sniffed the air but nothing smelled the same. I couldn't pick up any of the wolves scents or even my daughters' scent.
"I'm not sure where we are," I said as I took in my surrounds. We were still in the pack, but it wasn't the pack. Suddenly, I heard laughing and began to look around. It sounded like the laughing was all around us and the wind began to pick up.
"Where is the laughing coming from?" I said to my men as I pulled out a knife from my holster. I pushed a button on it and it grew into a sword.
"It's coming from over there," several of my men said as they pointed in different directions.
I looked around and focused on my senses, but nothing made sense to me. The laughing was getting louder and closer.
"Be ready," I shouted as the wind began to pick up and the laughing got closer. Suddenly, the wind blew super hard, causing me to move backwards. I felt like I was about to tumble over.
The laughing was right on top of us but I couldn't see anyone. The wind was coming at us from all directions but the only thing not affected was the torches. The flame remained calm.
The laughing became so loud mixed with the wind I had to cover my ears. I could no longer keep my body upright due to the wind and I fell to the ground. Just as quickly as the laughing and wind came, they disappeared.
I was no longer on the pack lands or at least I think I wasn't. Instead, I was blanketed in darkness except the torches remained. They were lined up kind of like street lights lighting a path.
"Lets walk towards the torches but remain vigilant," I said as I stood up, but no one responded. I looked behind me but I coudn't hear anyone or see anything moving.
As a vampire, I can see perfectly in the darkness, but in this darkness I could hardly see. I walked towards the torches and began to follow the path. Whatever was going on, I wasn't happy with it. I just hoped my daughter and the men were okay and that we would make it home safely.
I walked for ages, taking breaks to nap or rest whenever I couldn't go any longer. The torches went on forever and I couldn't see anything but there flames. Time felt different here because I had no clue how long I had been walking. A day, a week or longer, but what I did know was I would need to feed at some point.
While resting, I tried to link to Amber and my men but nothing. I even tried to call out to my men, but again nothing. I was alone. So I walked and walked and walked.
Finally, after walking for what felt like an eternity, I sat down and closed my eyes.
'Help me,' a voice said through the air, causing me to open my eyes. When I saw nothing but blackness, I closed my eyes again.
'HELP ME,' the voice screamed, causing my eyes to quickly open.
"Who is there?" I said into the darkness.
'Help me,' the voice screamed louder, but now that I was looking for it I could tell where it was coming from. I walked away from the lit torches and into the darkness.
'Help me, help me, help me,' the voice chanted over and over again. I began to run and suddenly the darkness was gone and in its place was a cave. I heard the sound of chains moving and turned around. There she was my daughter.
"Zoey," I whispered as I hurried over to her and kneeled down.
She looked up at me and smiled. "You finally came."
"I've been looking for you for days baby. What have they done to you?"
"You have been here the whole time."
"What do you mean?" I asked as I checked her over. She was dirty but otherwise appeared okay.
She raised her hand and pointed, causing the chains to rattle. I looked where she was pointing and there on the ground were my men.
"What happened?" I asked as I began to pull at the chains.
"I am not sure. They brought me into this room after they tried to pull the essence from my body. They tried over and over again but they could not get what they wanted. So they brought me here and you guys were here. I have been calling but none of you have stirred."
I broke the chain on the other arm and she grabbed her wrist, soothing the pain she had experienced. I began working on her legs. As I started pulling on the chains on her left leg, she bent down and began pulling on the right. Once she was free, I hugged her.
"How do we leave here?" She asked.
"First let's get my men up and then we can go from there."
Zoey nodded and I walked over to one of my men. I placed my hands on his head and closed my eyes. His mind was filled with darkness and he was wondering around. Just like how I was. I called out to him and suddenly he gasped and sat up. One by one, I woke my men up and once everyone was up, we began to form a plan.
