"Can't you just stay for tonight? I swear I am missing you already," Emma pouted, throwing her arms around Anna's neck as they walked to where the Omegas live.
As soon as they reached their room, Anna began to pack her luggage. She was ready to face anything that came her way, and for her to do that, she needed to survive.
Emma helped her with her stuff, and as they arranged it, tears began to drop down Emma's cheeks. She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that her best friend was leaving the pack for good.
They've known each other since their childhood days, so they've grown accustomed to each other. Letting go of Anna was a hard decision for her to take, but she has to respect her friend's decision.
In the Black Knight pack, Omegas are treated unfairly because they are known as the weak ones and their home is on the outskirts of the pack. They are subjected to hard work, while other werewolves enjoy themselves.
Anna turned around to find Emma crying, and almost immediately tears were threatening to fall from her eyes as well. She walked slowly to where Emma was and pulled her into a tight hug.
"I promise to come back for you, Emma, so do well and grow up to be an independent woman. And lastly, don't skip your meals, okay?" Anna said, and Emma nodded like a baby.
"You're lecturing me like I am the younger one here, whereas I am two years older than you," Emma said, and Anna laughed.
After some minutes of consoling each other, it was now time for Anna to leave. They had already planned how she was going to escape. She was going to leave through the back gate since the mate party was still ongoing and the guards were protecting the hall.
She wore her bag pack and held her other luggage in both hands as they left the Omegas house quietly to avoid getting caught. If she eventually got caught, she would be thrown into the dungeon with hard torture, so snicking without getting caught was her top priority right there.
Anna was lucky not to get caught, and immediately after she left through the back gate, she turned around and saw Emma waving at her.
"I promise to come back for you, Emma," she shouted, and Emma nodded before running off.
Anna took a few steps away from the gate before turning around to look back. "You will regret ever rejecting me, Rustin," she muttered, hardening her jaw in pure anger.
Just then, she saw a guard approaching.
Anna didn't know how long she had been running since she ran away from her pack at the sight of the approaching guard. She is in her wolf form, and she needs to drink water before she passes out from dehydration.
Heartbreak and anger were the fuel that led her this far, but now she can't even lift her paw, and she collapsed on the ground.
Her Wolf's tired eyes roamed her surroundings to check if she could see where she was, but there was nothing significant to indicate the place; there were only trees and greenery everywhere.
"I think you should sit back now, Rosy! I am less tired than you." She knows her wolf is stubborn and tries to fight her on everything, but today it was too much for her wolf too, as they ran without stopping anywhere.
"I don't want to sit back, Anna! I want to plunge my paw in their throats and watch them wither." Rosy growled in Anna's head. Rosy was the one who is hurting the most, as the mates bond can be felt by their wolves the most.
"I like that view, Rosy! We will come back one day to do exactly that. Now sit back and let me take the lead." Anna changed into her human form; her clothes were hanging from her mouth, and the bag was bound to Rosy's form.
She changed into her clothes and went in search of water. If she did not stop the anger and the scene of her step-sister and Rustin from swirling in her head, she is going to run back and do exactly what Rosy has painted in her head.
Anna couldn't believe how easily Rustin had rejected her and accepted her step-sister. Mates are the moon goddess's blessing, and no wolf can turn down or reject their mates, but her mate has easily thrown their bond away like it meant nothing.
Thinking about the rejection made Anna clench her fists in anger, and her heart felt like it had been stabbed repeatedly without any mercy and was bleeding non-stop.
"I will show them how painful it will be when someone betrays their trust, and I won't show any mercy." She promised herself and her wolf that she would take revenge no matter what and make them suffer more than her.
Finally, she found a small pond with clear water, making her sigh in contempt and relief that she would quench her thirst at last.
She had to start her journey again to find a pack where she could stay and start planning her revenge.
Anna drank the water to her heart's content and went to a tree to rest for a while. If she does not close her eyes for some time, she won't have the energy to run again.
She didn't know how long she had slept, but the crunch of leaves woke her up, but she didn't open her eyes as her wolf had already sniffed the danger in the air, alerting her.
