CHAPTER 26
A TOUCH ON my shoulder woke me, and I jerked upright. Who was there? I screamed, but a hand over my mouth muffled the sound, and I began to struggle before I recognised Jed and relaxed. Well, not relaxed, exactly. That was impossible with all the testosterone overflowing just a foot away.
“Shhh, it’s only me.”
I rubbed my eyes, trying to focus in the dim light from the moon. “What time is it?”
“Quarter past four.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. We’ve found your sister.”
I came wide awake in an instant. “Thank goodness! Is she okay?”
“Hungry, pissed off, tired. Take your pick.”
“Where was she?”
“Sleeping on a bench behind the library. She refused to go back to the clinic, so Dan took her to stay with some friends of ours instead.”
