Chapter1:the new arrival
The gates of Alpha Academy towered against the pale morning sky. They were carved from dark iron with intricate wolf symbols etched across their surface. Faint glimmers of silver caught the sunlight as Seraphina Hale approached. Her fingers gripped her acceptance letter tightly. It had taken years of moving from place to place and surviving on her own to reach this point. She had no family, no pack, and no real claim to a future in the world of wolves. Yet here she was standing at the entrance to the most prestigious academy in existence.
The moment she stepped through, the world shifted. The air vibrated with energy that made her skin tingle. Students moved across the courtyard in small packs. Every step they took radiated confidence, power, and dominance. Some walked with ease, others with subtle aggression. Seraphina could feel it all, a storm of presence and power that was both frightening and intoxicating.
She tried to calm her racing heart. This was her chance to prove herself. She would survive this academy no matter what it demanded.
As she walked toward the main hall, a sudden force slammed into her shoulder. Her books fell to the stone pathway and her bag toppled over.
"Watch where you are going," a deep voice said. It was commanding, cold, and impossible to ignore.
Seraphina looked up to see a boy taller than most of the others, broad-shouldered, with dark hair falling just above piercing silver eyes. He exuded dominance in a way that made the world around him seem smaller. She realized immediately that this was not just any student. This was someone extraordinary, someone untouchable.
"I could say the same to you," she replied quietly but with enough defiance to surprise herself.
The boy's eyes narrowed slightly, an expression that might have been curiosity flickering across his face. "You are new," he said. There was no question in his voice, only certainty.
"Yes," she replied, standing a little taller.
He tilted his head as if measuring her worth. "You do not smell like any pack."
Seraphina stiffened. "That is none of your business."
A ripple of whispers moved through the students gathered nearby. No one dared speak to this boy in such a manner. Most would have bowed or run. Yet she stood firm.
The boy studied her for a long moment. "Interesting," he murmured before turning and walking away. His presence was like a storm passing through the crowd, leaving an unmistakable mark on everyone he passed.
The academy bell rang across the courtyard, sharp and commanding. Students moved swiftly toward the main hall, and Seraphina followed cautiously. The main hall was massive with high ceilings and stone walls adorned with banners of different wolf packs. Hundreds of students filled the space, their voices creating a low hum of energy. Seraphina found a small spot near the back and sat down, letting herself breathe as the reality of her situation settled in.
The silence fell suddenly as the headmaster entered. His silver hair and eyes seemed to see everything. "Welcome to Alpha Academy," he began. "You are here because you have potential. This place is not for the weak or unprepared. You will be tested, challenged, and forced to face the beast within. Some of you will rise, some will fall, and some will break. Strength is measured not only by power but by control, courage, and loyalty."
He scanned the students. "Classes begin immediately. Your dorm assignments are posted outside. Do not be late. Do not be weak. Welcome to Alpha Academy."
The students rushed out into the courtyard toward the dormitory buildings. Seraphina followed at a careful pace, glancing at the posted dorm list. Her eyes widened when she saw her name. Seraphina Hale, Dorm 3, Room 12. Relief washed over her. She would not have to share with anyone too prominent.
Then she noticed the name directly below hers. Lucian Draven, Dorm 3, Room 12.
Her heart skipped a beat. Lucian Draven was the academy's most feared and respected student. He had no equal in dominance or skill, and she was now assigned to share a room with him.
A voice broke her thoughts. "It seems we are roommates."
Seraphina looked up and saw him standing there. Silver eyes locked on hers. Her chest tightened. "This has to be a mistake," she whispered.
"Nothing here is a mistake," he said. "Everything is intentional."
Intentional. The word made her shiver. Someone had deliberately placed her with him, and she had no idea why.
He stepped closer. "This will be interesting," he said softly.
Seraphina straightened. "I am not afraid of you," she replied.
Lucian’s gaze flickered for a moment before he moved past her, walking toward the dormitory building with an air that made the walls seem to shrink around him.
The hallway of Dorm 3 was long and shadowed, lined with polished wooden doors. Seraphina followed, unable to tear her eyes away from him. When they reached Room 12, he unlocked the door and stepped inside first.
The room was spacious, with twin beds, two desks, and matching wardrobes. Sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating the polished wooden floor. Seraphina set down her bag and took a deep breath to steady herself.
"You need to learn the rules quickly," Lucian said. "Academy life is not kind. It tests your limits and exposes weaknesses. The strongest survive. The rest fail."
"And the weakest?" she asked, her voice steady despite the fear in her chest.
"They become prey," he replied. "Be careful who you trust, who you challenge, and where your heart wanders."
The words struck her harder than she expected. It was more than a warning; it was a truth she could not ignore.
Classes began immediately after dorm assignments. They were exhausting. Students were tested on physical agility, combat skills, and control over their wolf instincts. Seraphina struggled to keep up, but she refused to show weakness. Lucian was everywhere, watching, evaluating, assessing her with those piercing silver eyes.
By evening, Seraphina collapsed onto her bed, exhausted and sore. Across the room, Lucian lay on his bed reading a book. He looked up at her and spoke without moving. "Not bad for your first day."
"I survived," she said, trying to sound confident.
Lucian allowed the faintest smile. "Survival is only the first step. Thriving is something else entirely."
Seraphina felt her chest tighten. She knew she was in the middle of a storm she could not escape. Alpha Academy was not just a school. It was a test of will, power, and heart. At the center of it was Lucian Draven, untouchable, dangerous, and impossible to ignore.
As she lay awake that night, exhaustion tugging at her limbs, she replayed his words and gaze in her mind. She had no idea what the academy had planned for her. She only knew one thing with terrifying clarity. Her life had changed forever, and Lucian Draven would be at the center of it.
