When they had all settled in the large sitting room, grandma Rose asked the question which had been eating at everyone's minds.
"Damian, what's this we're hearing? What's going on with that wife of yours? Is she hell bent on dragging our family name through the mud continuously? When are you finally going to divorce her?" Grandma Rose questioned all at once.
"Grandma please calm down. You know your health isn't what it used to be" Damian tried to appease.
"How is she supposed to remain calm when her granddaughter in law has decided to make us a laughing stock? All this would have been avoided if your father had just listened to me and let you marry Olivia " His mother berated.
"Yeah, bro. How can a married woman and a daughter in law of our family pick a fight with the minister's wife in public. As if it's not enough, she stole from your company." Mirabel enumerated.
"That's not even the most painful part, her last stunt has made me loose face in public. She got drunk, stripped herself to her undies, rained insults at you and our whole family and danced like a stripper whilst getting everything on video and only heavens knows how the video got on the internet." Mrs Knight said bitterly.
"You don't have to remind me,mum." Damian said through gritted teeth.
"I think we do have to remind you because you've done nothing so far to teach that slut of a woman a lesson. She does not deserve to have a husband like you and bear our family name. She's just some country bumpkin whose father Daniel promised a marriage and when your father kept his promise and got you married to that lowlife of a woman, look what we're having to go through. I haven't left this in weeks because of the shame,Damian. Please just divorce that woman." His mother raved.
"Come on ma,you too? You think I don't want to? Or do you think I've enjoyed the problems Alicia has been creating? After I saw that video, you know I called her and told her to get out of my house, that I would send the divorce papers to her with my signature on them. I couldn't take the chance of throwing her out myself because at that moment, I knew I wouldn't be able to restrain from murdering her. She left the house in a rage,so I was told and she had a fatal accident that left her in a coma for two weeks. She woke up a few days ago and that's when we found out she went through some serious brain damage. Didn't Olivia inform you?" Damian explained turning to Olivia.
"I'm sorry I didn't inform you all,I don't like talking about that woman. Just thinking about her spoils my mood." Olivia apologized.
"Is she a vegetable now?" Mirabel questioned.
"No,her IQ reduced. she thinks and acts like a ten year old, she's really dumb. Tell me, what kind of heartless human would I be if I forced her to sign the divorce papers and abandoned her in a hospital like that?" He asked and waited for an answer but got none before continuing.
"My hands are tied,I have to take care of her until she gets better. I thought of punishing her while she's still like this but that backfired as she caught a cold and had a high fever this morning and I'm still the one who has to take care of her. I just need you guys to be patient as I'm being patient, the moment I notice an improvement in her condition, I'll divorce her and leave her some huge alimony and a caretaker. The court won't grant the divorce now on the basis of her mental condition, so we just have to wait patiently." Damian said finally.
"We trust you, son to do the right thing." His mother said and Olivia changed the topic of discussion.
