Chapter Eleven

1563 Words
Rainn Adalyn and I had the most amazing bonding ever and she finally marked me. I couldn't believe how good it felt, but then it all went to s**t. That was three weeks ago. She's been in what the doctors have called a self-induced coma ever since. They have been able to do nothing to get her to wake up. I broke down and called Ard'al hoping that maybe he would know something. He came as soon as he could. He didn't tell the council where he was going because I wasn't ready for them to find out about Adalyn yet. He's been here for a week and a half in the library trying to research anything that could help us. I've been an absolute mess, not eating, not sleeping and barely showering. I haven't left her side for longer than necessary. I crawled into bed next to her as gently as I could, hoping that it would help, and thought back to all the events prior to her coma. Watching her take on Malik was amazing, even if I wanted to rip his throat out for what he said to her. She was fearless. After her sparring session, I followed her upstairs because I wanted to talk with her some more. When she came out from her shower, I could tell that talking was not exactly what she had on her mind. She was a little minx, but it was so hot seeing her on her knees in front of me with my c**k in her mouth. I wasn't sure if she was ready to go all the way yet or not, but she assured me that she was, and I made her mine. Right before both of our releases, our hands lit up and so did the mark on her on our chest. She put her hand on my chest and it burned for a few seconds and then turned into pleasure. It made me shiver and all the control I had was lost. When she opened her eyes and looked at me, her eyes were a brilliant purple. Apparently, so were mine. I tried to call out to her, but her eyes rolled back into her head, and I panicked. I quickly threw my shirt on her and yelled for Liam. He flew into the room and looked at her. "What happened?" "I don't know one minute we are having our bonding and the next minute she's out; she won't wake up." My brother could hear the absolute terror in my voice and ran for his phone to call the local super doctor. He's a Fae and highly skilled healer. He will also see humans under certain conditions. He checked her over but couldn't find a reason why she wasn't awake. Liam lightly knocks on the door frame announcing his presence and brings me out of my memories. "Hey man, maybe you should go eat something and get a shower. I'll sit with her until you get back and I promise I'll yell if anything changes." I wanted to argue with him but I'm no use to her like that. "Yea, maybe your right, but seriously if anything happens yell." "Yea you know I will." I reluctantly got off the bed, grabbed some clothes, and headed to the next room over to get a shower. It felt so good standing under the hot spray. I quickly washed myself up, dried off, and put my clothes on. I went downstairs into the kitchen to find something quick to eat so I could get back up to her. Ard'al was sitting in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and his head down looking at a book, taking notes. He heard me come in and looked up, "I've never seen a mate be down this long." His voice sounded defeated. "It usually takes a few hours for the change to occur, but she's been down for three weeks." He shook his head, "If this goes on much longer, we will have to get the council involved, you know that, right?" I knew that and nodded my head. I grabbed some stuff out of the fridge and made myself two sandwiches and scarfed them down. "We'll figure this out Rainn, we have to. Do you know anything about her family?” I thought hard about this, “You know, come to think of it, she has never mentioned anything about her family. I’ve asked but she always changes the subject. I’ve just let it go not wanting to push her.” Ard’al nodded, “That might be something to investigate, son. If she’s not completely human, that could be what is going on.” Now my mind was going in a million different directions. Could she not be human? I headed back towards the stairs when I heard Liam yell, "Rainn, get up here now." I took the stairs three at a time and ran into my room. My eyes immediately snapped towards the bed. I saw violet eyes staring back at me. I approached the bed cautiously and sat down. "Adalyn, are you ok?" She smiled at me and threw her arms around me. I immediately relaxed in her arms and started to tear up. "Liam wouldn't tell me anything, what happened?" "My love, you've been in a coma for three weeks." She looked at me in complete shock. "Ard'al came here to help me try and figure out what was going on after the doctor couldn't find anything physically wrong." She looked passed me at the door and smiled. "Rainn's told me what you've done for him, so thank you for saving and raising him so one day I could find him and love him." "I'm so glad you are his mate, I know you will be good for him." I couldn't stop staring at her, those violet eyes were such a contrast against her raven hair. I went into the bathroom and grabbed a handheld mirror and came back. "What's this for?", she asked. "See for yourself my love." She flipped the mirror over and gasped, "What happened to my eyes?" "From the little bit of information that I was able to find, it's from your combined power and that may also be the reason that you were out for so long." "You were transitioning to being a hunter, but if you have more power than a normal hunter, that may have something to do with it. Time will only tell." She looked at me, "Can you help me get in the bath?" "Of course, my love," I said. Ard'al moved back towards the door with Liam, "I've decided to stay for a little while longer and will help with her training in any way that I can. I'll also call Malik and let him know she's awake." Addie gave me a questioning look, "Where's Malik?" " He's on an information-gathering mission but I'm sure he'll be back in no time." I wanted to ask her about her family again but right now I just wanted to enjoy her being awake. We would have plenty of time to talk about that. After the door was closed, I pulled back the covers and picked her up bridal style and headed into the bathroom. I sat her on the counter and went over to turn the water on. Once the tub was filled, I pulled the shirt over her head and sat her in the bath. I went to turn back around and give her some privacy, but she grabbed my arm. "Please stay my love." Hearing those words and all the stress of the past three weeks had me dropping to my knees and I felt the tears running down my face. "Come in here with me Rainn." I obediently did as she asked, and she straddled my lap. I buried my face in her neck and breathed in her scent. "I was so afraid I was going to lose you. I wasn't sure if you were going to wake up and I blamed myself. I can't imagine my life without you now." She giggled, “I’m right here, sweet cheeks. You can’t get rid of me that easily.” “If something happened to you. I would’ve burned the world to the ground. The council would’ve had to send hunters to kill me.” She put her hands on my cheeks and pulled me in for a kiss. It was a quick kiss, but one filled with love. She looked in my eyes and all I saw was love. "I'm not going anywhere, we are bonded now, remember." I pulled her even closer to me, I didn't ever want to let her go. "I guess we will have to test and see what I can do now that I've transitioned into a hunter huh", she giggled at me. "Once your strength is back up then yes." She snuggled into my arms, and I just held her for a while. I washed her hair and body before the water got cold, dried her off, threw one of my clean shirts over her, and carried her to bed. Liam had brought some food for her, so after she ate, we laid down. I pulled her into my chest, put my nose into her hair, and fell asleep with her warmth around me.
