As I lay down to sleep, my mind flashed back to the piece of broken glass I found outside my house. It left me wondering who had left the broken glass there if it wasn't meant to be used to attack Ella.
The following day, I decided to ask Mia about the broken bottle. I also wanted to mend things with Mia because I was disappointed with Ella.
"Hey, Mia, you've been distant. Is there a problem?" I said.
"You've left me for your new friends. You're the one who's been distant," she said somewhat gloomily.
"It will never happen again," I replied with a broad smile.
"Don't treat me as a second option anymore," she said, hugging me. I didn't realise that that was what I was doing.
"Did I do that? I'm sorry," I said, hugging her back.
"Okay, that's enough hugging," she said.
"I have a question though," I added.
"Go ahead," she replied.
"Did you attack Ella with a broken bottle?" I asked thoughtfully.
"No, I didn't do such a thing. Any problem?" she enquired.
"I saw a piece of broken glass outside my house, but never mind, there's no problem," I said quickly.
"Time to head to my class," I said.
"Bye," she replied with a broad smile.
I couldn't stop thinking about the broken bottle, which made me tell Pascal about it when he came to see me. I had a soft spot for Pascal, which made me willing to share my worries. He told me to let it go and that if I had any issues, I shouldn't hesitate to tell him. Just then, he mentioned that Ella wanted to talk to me, which left me wondering if he had come just to tell me about Ella.
"Is that why you came here?" I asked after careful consideration of whether I should ask the question.
"No, I care about Ella just as I do for you," he smirked. At that moment, I realised I shouldn't have asked him that.
"You can go and call Ella," I said promptly. I hoped he would leave sooner. As soon as he left, I let out a sigh of relief.
He came back after a few seconds with Ella. Ella entered, lit up. I didn't realise how much I loved Ella that I couldn't stay upset with her. I smiled after her.
"Your smile means that you have forgiven me?" she said pettily.
"I wasn't angry with you. I was disappointed. I expected you to tell me things like that," I said quietly.
"I apologise for not telling you that my friend Pascal has a crush on you," she said softly.
"Promise never to keep secrets again," I said.
"Pinky promise?" she asked.
"Pinky promise," I replied.
"That's more like it. You guys should never quarrel again," he said cringingly.
"Yeah, yeah, we know," she said.
"This day, I reconciled with both Ella and Mia. What a day!" I said playfully.
"You reconciled with Mia? Why? I'm not against it, but I would like to know the reason because you told me to stay away from her." I perceived her as only jealous that I was on good terms with Mia. But I couldn't tell her the real reason.
"I don't have a solid reason. I just decided to make things right with her. You should too," I said quickly.
"Alright, tomorrow I will," she said, sounding a little jealous.
"Okay, nice." I knew I shouldn't have mentioned Mia because I didn't like the idea of Ella reconciling with her. But I knew eventually I would accept it.
