My house was serene. I went to sleep. I refused to text anyone. I was sad both for conscious and subconscious reasons.
I couldn't fall asleep, so I stepped out onto my veranda and decided to visit a nearby club.
It was only two kilometres away. I arrived at the club. The heat was intense. Young men and women were dancing. The smell was heavy. My senses were bombarded from all directions. The music vibrated through the floor to me and throughout the entire club. It compelled me to dance. I felt cool.
My eyes wandered aimlessly. I made my way to the bar. I was sober, so I was sure that it was Zoe and Jessie I had seen. They weren't alone; they were with men. I knew what they were up to.
"Hey, girls! This club is lit!!" They left the men and came out to talk to me.
"Yeah. What are you doing here?"
"Why are you panicking? Relax, I know what you guys do." I had to act drunk to find out more.
I felt a sharp prick before I could say anything, and Zoe led me outside calmly.
"Go before you get into trouble." She said and went back to the club.
She had injected me. I had no money on me to take a taxi. I decided to call Pascal.
Pascal arrived within minutes.
Unfortunately, I was woken up the next day by my mom.
"Where did you go? You were brought back yesterday by a boy!!!" I felt numb.
"I don't know, Mom. I was in a club and..."
"You were in a club?" She enquired.
"I feel weak, Mom. I can't..." felt heaviness in my face and body. I lay down to sleep.
"I will come back for this conversation. Be ready to give me detailed reasons why you were brought back unconscious by a boy." My mom couldn't believe that I was at a club. I also didn't believe it, nor could I grasp what happened while I was there.
I woke up and grabbed my phone. It was 4 pm. Messages had come in. Pascal and Ella had called. Pascal asked if he could come over to my house. I gave him consent to come over.
I couldn't ignore Ella any longer, I told her to come over, too.
Shortly afterwards, I opened the door quietly for them to run to my room before my mom came out. I joined them with nibbles.
"Olivia, you went to a club? Why? If you were kidn*pped, killed, or r***d, we wouldn't be here discussing this. Did you think about how your mom would feel? She stared at me without blinking, her eyes wide and unblinking.
"I wanted to have fun. You weren't there because you were with Rose!" I said annoyingly.
"I don't want to be there!" She said, irritated.
"You guys should calm down, please. You decided to call me, which was a good thing. But what happened to you?" He enquired.
"I don't know, I can't remember."
"Ella, why didn't you tell me that Pascal has a crush on me? You told Rose, right?" I said with resentment. I was certain they both wanted to leave at that moment. I couldn't care less.
"Pascal wanted to tell you of his own accord. Pascal is my friend, and I respected his choice."
I couldn't put myself in her shoes. I didn't see beyond the fact that she should have told me.
"Fine." Ella eventually left after a few minutes without saying another word. I also told Pascal to leave with her.
I felt a sharp pain in my heart.
They didn't even take the snacks, I thought.
