Pascal stood stiffly in front of me, his mouth dry, and I noticed that he was holding his breath.
"Are you okay?" I asked uneasily.
"Yes, totally. I wanted to ask you a question. B... But my friends inter...rupted me, do you remember?" He stuttered.
"Yes, go on." I already knew how it was going to turn out. I understood what it suggested if he was anxious when talking randomly. I felt bad that Ella had known all along but hadn't told me.
"Will you be my girl...friend?" He said.
"I'm not..." I hesitated to say something I might regret. "Later," I said and left his kitchen.
"Hey, did he finally let the cat out of the bag?" Jude, Pascal's friend, said playfully.
"You knew?" I said softly, feeling nervous and shy. I wanted to leave right away.
"We all knew," He said, and they laughed.
"Nice, okay, bye. It was lovely meeting you both, Jude and Leo, correct? I said impulsively.
"Yeah, relax, though. He cares about you a lot. The fight at school yesterday happened because Charles passed our class listing the names of girls he has been with, and your name was mentioned. The fight began in our class," he explained.
"Alright. I will be on my way home," I couldn't remain there any longer.
I thought of going back to Ella's house, but I couldn't drag my feet. She had to know I was angry with her.
I went to Emma's house instead because I needed someone to talk to about what Ella did.
I liked Pascal, but I wasn't sure if I could date him. Did he fight for me? I wondered, but I didn't see him there. Chills ran down my spine. I had fears, though. I didn't want to be judged by my colleagues, especially Charles. I didn't want unwanted attention or awkward situations. I wasn't prepared for all that at all.
I pondered on what could possibly turn out as I headed to Emma's house.
Emma opened the door when I knocked, and I fell onto her like a baby. She asked me if I was okay, and I said yes. I couldn't tell her what happened, I could only tell her that Ella was annoying. She smiled and asked about what she did.
"Forget it, you don't really know Ella," I said.
"But I know you, tell me what she did, and I will go and warn her to never do it again," She said with humour.
"Very funny. Is there food? I'm so hungry," I said. I didn't realise how comfortable I was around Emma.
I went to her room to wait for her. I saw her friend, Stella there. "Stella, Emma didn't tell me you are here. What's up?" I said.
I sat down and joined her in watching the movie she was watching.
"I'm okay. How have you been, your friend too, Mia? I didn't get the time that day to give her a taste of her own medicine, " She said spitefully.
"You have to forgive, Mia. She was actually having a hard time. She is better now!" I snapped. I was dealing with my own issues, and she didn't have to bring up Mia.
I spent the day at Emma's house. I got text messages from Ella, but I didn't reply. "Alright, I will head home now. Bye, you guys. Thanks for the food, Emma it was delicious," I said.
"Anytime, bye," Emma said blissfully. "It's a real shame that she's your friend, She's just as bitter as Mia." Stella thought that I had left, but I was standing right outside Emma's room. I was overwhelmed by her comment. I left Emma's house immediately.
