On my way home, I heard footsteps behind me. I ignored it. I could still hear the footsteps when I arrived at my house. I turned to see who had been following me. I was immediately pulled into a corner by powerful arms. I took a moment to process what had happened.
"Charles!! Why did you drag me forcefully? And why on earth are you following me around? I said angrily.
"Hey, you know I love you. You are so pretty..." I ignored him and entered my house. I admired his cocky attitude, a trait I could never possess.
I decided to go and visit Ella. It was the first time I ever visited a friend's place randomly. I enjoyed my own company so much that I didn't make time for my friends.
I walked over to Ella's house. It was only a stone's throw from mine.
Her younger brother held the door open for me.
"Hey, where's your big sister?" I asked excitedly.
"She's in her room with her friends," He said.
"Okay, can you take me to her room?" My excitement had faded. Ella was with her friends and they didn't bother to visit me. I felt a surge of jealousy and resentment. But It eased up when I reached Ella's room. They were so adorable that I couldn't stay angry with them for long.
I made sure to have every discussion about me and Ella before Rose could do so.
"Pascal, do you have male friends?" I was sure that he was dating Ella, but she wouldn't tell me. It was odd that she wanted to keep it a secret.
"I have male friends, and I hang out with them often. Ella called me here so that we could study together," He said.
"That's nice. You guys need a friend like Ella because she's very clever." I didn't know why I said that, but I was proud of myself for saying it.
"Ella, I'm proud of you," Ella smiled lovingly at me.
"Where's your mom? I want to say hello to her," I said.
"She isn't around, I don't know where she went," She said.
"Okay, that's fine."
"I want to meet your friends if I can, Pascal," I said after a brief silence. I was curious about the kind of friends Pascal had, but I lacked the courage to ask.
"Sure, you have to come to my house after the weekend, or will you come to my house? I will invite them simply to see you," He said gleefully.
"Yes, you can go now. Pascal, don't invite more than two friends. I don't want Olivia to feel uncomfortable," Ella said.
"Are you chasing me away?" I enquired
"No, but Pascal wants you to go to his house. And you should make new friends," She said.
I was upset about what she said because her reason wasn't clear. I decided to go since Ella indirectly told me to leave her house. I kind of liked that I was leaving with Pascal. He was gentle, nice, loving, and intelligent. I always crushed on younger boys because most of them were reassuring. I loved those kinds of boys for myself.
We got to his house. It was a tranquil home. No one appeared to live there. I asked him about his parents and siblings, and he explained that he was sent to live with his aunt because his parents were away on a trip. He called his friends while we sat down to wait for them.
"I'm glad you are here. It's a bit odd that you are only here to see my friends, isn't it?" He said.
"Yes, exactly, but it's okay. What trip did your parents go on?" I said.
"A business trip. They keep postponing their return date. At this point, I don't know when they will be back," He said.
"What! Hilarious. They are probably busy with a lot," I said.
"Yes. Can I ask you a question?" He was about to speak when his friends entered. I wanted to see them, but I regretted it.
While we were chatting, Pascal went to get some nibbles. I followed him because I couldn't stay with his friends alone.
I helped him carry out snacks. I turned to leave, but Pascal, who had been standing behind me, stopped me.
