The wine was served fancily as they took a bit of their steak. Alejandro can’t deny the fact that this Restaurant is 100 out of 10 on his taste.

“You should go visit Csilla they have a better steak than this.” Pinanlakihan ni Alejandro ng mata si Athena dahil nakita niya na nanginig ang waiter na nagseserve ng wine sa kanya. It stiffens as he shakely serve the wine.

“But this is Mirasol, Tin. And this is delicious.”

Athena shrug and pushed the plate as a signal that she doesn’t want to eat more.

“Tell me something.”

“What?” Alejandro blankly ask her.

“Tell me something about you, Peter or whatever.”

“Chismosa ka talaga kahit kailan.” He hissed but he heard a huff from the other side of the table.

“Look, I am not chismosa, I’ve been left out okay? I just need to catch things up so that I can understand the situation.”

“There is no situation for you because you are leaving tomorrow. There is no need to know.” He said as he stare at her and he saw her rolled her eyes.

She is just staring at him at pinanlakihan eto ng mata habang pinagtataasan ng kilay.

“Alright! I give up!” Alejandro put his utensils down as he raised his hands that is the sign of surrender. He never won against this argument.

Athena signed the waiters to wait outside and they immediately followed.

“Okay so?” panimula ni Athena.

“Cut the bullshit, Jan.”

“You have been scarier now, do you know that?”

“Whatever. Dali na kasi! Andami pang satsat eh.”

“Wala nga masyado kasi—it’s just…”

“Just?”

“The daughter of Santiago Lacson went to the hacienda.”

“Went?” Athena tried to process on what he said as she pout and look at the ceiling.

Alejandro nod and he started to cut his steak and went back to eat. “Hmm…”

“Voluntarily?” at ikinwento na nga ni Alejandro ang nangyari kasama na siya mismo rin ang nagpakawala sa babae dahilan na mangyari ang ambush sa kanila ni Peter.

“Ang bobo mo!” He expected that reaction already kaya wala na siyang nagawa kundi ang uminom na lang ng wine para lunukin ang mga mura ng kaibigan sa kanya. “Paano na lang kung namatay si Peter?”

“Kaya nga humihingi ako ng tawad sa kanya pati na rin sa’yo.”

He saw that Athena shook her head and sighed as a disappointment. Yes, he knows, who will not get disappoint sa ginawa niya?“Alam mo Jan? Yung kabaitan mo, iyan mismo yung magpapahamak sa iyo.”

He knows that himself but nothing beats when someone slap it in your face that you are kinda stupid. “I know that Peter is ready to die anytime for you but the question is; are you? Are you ready to die now, Jan? Without avenging your—our parents? Use your head not your heart.

You are in a politics game. This is ruthless than everyone expects. This is not a child game that if you are bound to loss you’re just out for a moment then you’ll came back. In this game, you only have one life. One life and if you are out—you die.

Learn to be brutal In some ways whether they did something wrong to you or none. Before they’ll do something wrong to you first. Mauna panalo, mahuli talo.”

Hindi na nakasagot si Alejandro sa halip ay parang sirang plaka iyon na paulit ulit na tumutunog sa isipan niya.

Athena is right.

She is goddamn right.

Always goddamn right.

Nang matapos silang kumain ay tuluyan na nga silang lumabas ng restaurant at nag tungo sa sasakyan ni Alejandro na nakapark lang sa labas kasama ang mga dosena niyang guard.

“Let me drive. I need to talk to you.” Athena said when they already went outside. Tinanguan naman ni Alejandro ang driver niya at agad naman etong lumabas. Umikot ang gobernador para maupo sa passenger seat habang ang kapatid ni Peter ay sumakay na sa drivers seat. Sinigurado muna nila ang pag suot ng seat belt bago binaybay ang daan.

“Actually, Peter mentioned something to me kaninang umaga na nakaligtaan mong ikwento sa akin.”

Alejandro took a glance to her side and he saw that Athena didn’t bother to look at him.

“About the baby.”

Alejandro bit his lip inside. He knows that he shouldn’t think that on this moment but that just made him eager to have one offspring that at least will carry the blood of Jemenia. “Look, I think it is normal to feel that urge and the want to have a baby on my age right now.”

Athena hummed as an answer. “Yes, I know and that is right. I never said it was wrong, Jan.”

“So don’t nag me regarding on this.” He heard his friend hummed.

“How about that Lacson?”

“Who?”

“That Samantha Lacson that rat you let out and go home to her father and the reason that Peter almost died.”

Funny because the last time he remembers; he couldn’t even touch nor hurt that girl because she haven’t done anything wrong to him. But that was the total opposite right now. She was the one who almost killed Peter. If it wasn’t because of Peter maybe he is already dead.

“I doubt that it was a good idea, Tin.” He tried to brush off the idea pero tinignan lang siya ng kaibigan ng ilang Segundo bago binalik ang paningin niya sa daan.

“Peter told me that you let Santiago know that you captured her. Pero ano? Walang epekto? Instead it was a gain on his part that you’ll kill her. Actually, before we met at the restaurant I did some research on her.”

“What?” Partially, Alejandro wants to hear more about her. She is beautiful and he can’t even deny it. Hell, he even saw her as the perfect surrogate mother the moment their eyes met.

“She is famous in New York, Jan. And she had a lot of magazine interview the one time she had mentioned that she hated her father. They had never been in a good blood so killing her won’t be a plus on your tally board.”

“But you think that having a baby with her is a good idea?”

He saw her nod and she smirk. “Yeah. Yes, Jan. I think that would be a good idea. Imagine how raged Santiago to hear that he has a grandchild from the person he hated the most?”

Alejandro couldn’t stop himself from bitterly chuckling off from the reason of Athena. It is madly absurd idea. “Athena you must forgot that I will feel the same too. I can’t imagine having a child from the family of Santiago. That idea is absurd. Stop it.”

Nagulat si Alejandro ng biglang magpreno si Athena dahilan na mapatingin siya rito. “If you play it cool then he’ll be the one to be triggered. If you act smug and be proud, mock him and slapping it to his face the baby like a precious trophy that you and him share pint of blood on that child I know for sure he’ll be mad—like goddamn mad—I mean—he is already crazy mad—but this is insane. It doesn’t matter if who’s the mother here, it doesn’t matter kung anong dugo ang dadaloy sa anak mo because the important is; you had a baby and Santiago will be crazy mad about that. Altogether at one.”

Alejandro cannot deny the fact that it was a good idea but the thing is; trying to imagine na magkakaroon ng dugo na Lacson ang magiging anak niya ay parang hinahalukay ang tiyan niya.

“Pero at the end of the day, Jan, it is still all up to you. You will be still the one to decide. Go, talk to it with Peter. He might enlighten you.” Ani Athena at nagsimula na ulit paandarin ang kotse at pinagpatuloy ang pagmamaneho pauwi sa kanilang bahay.

Alejandro kept thinking if that was a good idea or not. True, it is a brilliant idea but at the same time it is dumb.

He released a long and deep sigh bago napatingin sa labas ng bintana ng kotse. Maybe he won’t even see her ever again, what could be the big deal?

Lumabas na ng bahay si Samantha nang matapos na siyang makapagligo at mag ayos. Gusto na niyang suyurin ang bayan ng Isla Bato kaya parang kidlat lang ang pag aayos niya.

Habang nakaharap siya salamin ay hindi niya mapigilang mapakunot ang noo dahil sa hindi pantay na skintone niya at epekto ng pagkatulog niya sa labas kanina. Pero kahit hindi pantay ang balat niya ay sinuot niya pa rin ang off shoulder na floral blouse at sinuutan ng isang maong na shorts.

Paglabas niya ng pinto ay hindi niya maiwasan na mapatingin sa lalakeng nakatalikod sa kanya at para bang nakatingin sa malayo habang nakapamulsa sa beach shorts niya. Hindi niya mapigilan na hagurin ng tingin ang likod nito at buong katawan.

Bulky ang likod at braso neto at idagdag mo na rin ang mataas na height nito na nag babalance sa laki ng katawan niya.

Nang lumingon eto ay parang kriminal na nahuli si Samantha at nanlaki ang mata na tinignan niya lang si Toni. Nagulat siya ng sinuklian din nito ang ngiti niya at hindi mapigilang mag simp ni Samantha sa lalakeng eto.

Nasaan na ang baby face kink mo ha?

“Okay na po ang loob ng bahay po at saka ang swimming pool. Nalinis ko na po iyon.”

“Ah. S-Salamat.” Parang napag-iisipan ni Samantha ngayon kung saan niya nakuha ang hiya na nararamdaman niya ngayon. She push it out of herself at nginitian ulit ang lalake. “Tayo na?”

Tumango lang si Toni at nauna ng bumaba ng hagdan. Agad din naman na sumunod si Samantha sa likod nito at hindi niya maiwasang mapatingin sa pwet ni Toni. Masyado ring Malaki eto at nakakaagaw tingin—she shook her head.

Ano ba yan, Samantha. Ayusin mo yung iniisip mo.

Nagulat siya ng tumigil si Toni at napatingin siya sa harapan nito. Nakita niya na inabutan siya nito ng helmet at nanigas sa kinatatayuan si Samantha.

“Eh?”

“Hindi ka naman po takot sumakay ng motor po diba?”

“Huh? M-Motor?” alanganing inabot ni Samantha ang helmet at pilit pinakakalma ang sarili. Sasakay siya ng motor? “Marunong ka naman mag maneho diba? Na may angkas?”

Nakita niya sumakay na si Toni sa motorsiklo at sinuot ang helmet na para sa kanya. “Opo, marunong po ako mag maneho ng motor.”

Parang napahinga ng maluwag si Samantha at agad naman niyang sinuot ang helmet at umangkas na sa likod nito. “Pero Ma’am… may aaminin po ako.”

Lumingon si Toni sa balikat niya dahilan na mapatingin sa kanya si Samantha dahil hindi na niya masyadong marinig ang lalake. “Ano? Aaminin?”

Toni already kicked the motor at umugong na ang sasakyan. “Actually po, first time pong may umangkas sa motor ko.”

Nanigas sa kinauupuan si Samantha at agad na dumapo ang dalawa niyang kamay sa balikat ni Toni dahil sa gulat.

“What??!” nasa kalagitnaan na siya ng byahe ng marealize niya lahat ng nangyayari sa kanya.

Hindi na lang pinansin ni Samantha ng makita niya ang isang ngiti sa labi na mula kay Toni habang binabaybay nila ang daan patungo sa bayan ng Isla Bato.
