Early morning.
The light was entering the cave from the entrance, while Jong Ji slowly opened his eyes in the darker part of the cave where the light was barely reaching.
Jong Ji slowly opened his eyes.
He felt a light headache as he looked at the gone-out fire and rubbed his eyes.
"Huh?" He could feel that his eyes were wet.
"Did I cry in my sleep?" He muttered.
"I wonder what I dreamed about..." He stopped talking as his face froze.
His heart raced again, and tears filled his eyes, "I dreamed about my father." He said, trying to hold the tears back.
He looked at the old bag leaning on the wall near him, 'Or was that reality?' The thought passed through his mind.
He shook his head, 'It doesn't matter if it was a dream or reality.
It won't change the fact that I met my dad, he showed me the way, and that's everything that matters.
Now, I know what I must do. I must worship that old man as my master.
Only then will I be able to gain the strength I need to revenge my mother.' He thought as he stood up, full of determination.
Jong Ji walked towards the exit of the cave.
Setting foot outside the cave, a gentle cold morning breeze swept his face and played with his loose long silver hair.
A pleasant sight greeted him as he set foot outside, the beauty of untouched nature.
Each was no less than ten meters (33 feet) high.
The soft green grass swayed on the morning breeze, together with the green leaves of the high trees.
It was the first time Jong Ji had seen such beautiful scenery.
Simply the scenery was breathtaking. Jong Ji closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He took a few steps forward, letting the sun rays piercing through the gaps between the leaves bathed his face. For a moment, he even forgot the pain he had suffered in the last two days.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" A voice from behind brought him back to reality.
Jong Ji turned behind instantly. The old man was floating in the air with his legs crossed (lotus position).
Jong Ji fell to his knees.
The old man was shocked a little but didn't show it.
"Please accept me as your disciple." Jong Ji shouted as he kneeled.
'He is a smart child.' The old man thought. "Alright, from now on, I'm your master." The old man said with a smile.
"Jong Ji greets his master!" Jong Ji shouted as he kowtowed three times.
"Alright, now get up and follow me." The old man said. Floating, he slowly moved deeper into the cave.
Jong Ji immediately stood and followed closely behind. The cave was not very big, so they ended at the other side of the cave pretty quickly.
Facing the fall Jong Ji stopped, but the master continued floating forward.
"Careful!" Jong Ji shouted, stretching his hand to hold his master as he was about to hit the wall. After all, his eyes were closed. He was probably orientating and moving on memory. However, he was too late, and the master hit the wall.
Contrary to what he expected, his master passed through the wall and disappeared from his sight. His jaw dropped as he saw this.
He stood like that for a moment. "What are you doing? Come." He heard his master's voice from behind the wall. The next moment a hand came from the wall and grabbed him by the arm dragging him through the wall.
Passing through the wall, on the other side, Jong Ji saw that they were still in the cave, though this part of the cave was very narrow.
"Master, this is..."
"Illusionary Array Formation." The old man said, not giving Jong Ji time to ask the question. Of course, he already knew the question. It was definitely about how they walked through the wall.
As they walked forward, the cave was becoming narrower and narrower.
It became so narrow that Jong Ji and his master had a hard time moving forward.
Splash! Splash! Splaash!
Jong Ji heard the sound of water from afar, deep in the cave. He looked at his master and saw the slight smile he had on his face.
Somehow, they were barely passing through the narrow path. However, soon they saw the end of that path. It was ending in a bright light.
They moved closer and closer, and finally, they made the first step and entered that bright light.
Jong Ji was blinded for a second as the light was far brighter in this part of the cave than in the small cave path they walked.
He slowly opened his. However, his eyes widened in shock.
"Whoa!" He exclaimed scenery before himself.
This part of the cave was dozens of meters high.
From the calling on the other end of the cave, water springs out, which falls down, creating a small pond below. Yes, it was a waterfall, an underground waterfall.
In the small pond below the waterfall was a big square-shaped stone on which the waterfall was falling directly.
Except for the pond, the rest of the cave was a plain field with green grass and many flowers.
However, what surprised Jong Ji the most was not the beautiful scenery or the underground waterfall. The light in the cave surprised him because they were obviously underground, but the cave was well-lighted. Like they were out in the sun.
This whole cave was marvelous.
"Master, how is it so bright in this cave?" Jong Ji asked.
His master smiled gently and said: "This is also an array formation." His master looked him straight in the eyes, though he himself had them closed. "Jong Ji, this is where you will spend the next few years."
"I will listen to the master." Jong Ji said as he cupped his hands in front of himself and slightly bowed.
"Good. Good boy. Wait here. I will return in a few minutes." The master said as he floated toward the waterfall. As he was getting closer to the waterfall, he floated higher and higher in the air until he hit the waterfall and passed through it, disappearing behind it.
Jong Ji sat on the soft grass and slowly lost himself in his own thoughts as he observed the water falling down in the pond.
He thought about the years he would spend training to gain strength, which led him to the question. ' Why do I need strength?'. The reason was obvious revenge.
At the thought of revenge, all the painful memories returned.
He remembered the feeling of watching his mother die. He felt powerless. He doesn't want to experience that feeling ever again. He never again wanted to lack the strength to protect someone important to him.
And no matter how much he thought about it, the one who he found ultimately at fault was Quin Qi. "Quin Qi, clear your neck and wait for me." He muttered.
At that moment, he felt a hand touching his shoulder.
He raised his head and looked above. It was his master who stood next to him, no longer floating.
He held a bamboo scroll in his hand. "Do you know how to read?" He asked.
Jong Ji rushed to stand up before answering.
However, as he was about to stand, he felt his master pushing him down gently. "No need." His master said.
Jong Ji nodded and replied to the previous question: "My mother has taught me, but I have not read long texts in a long time. I can't even remember the last time I read a book."
"Don't worry. That's not something you can easily forget." His master smiled gently and passed him the bamboo scroll.
"What's this?" Jong Ji asked as he took the bamboo scroll and placed it before himself on the ground.
"Memorize every word in there with your heart. Do you understand?" His master asked seriously.
Jong Ji judged by his master's tone that what this bamboo scroll contained must be very important for his future. "I understand," Jong Ji answered without hesitation, which pleased his master.
"Good. I would leave you alone then."
"Master, wait..." Jong Ji shouted for his master as he turned behind but stopped his sentence midway as he saw that his master had already disappeared from the cave.
"I'm hungry. Who knows how much time this will take." Jong Ji muttered.
He slowly opened the bamboo scroll. And read the title in a low voice. "The Elementless Three-Element Class."
"How will I understand this? It doesn't even make sense." Jong Ji muttered. "Forget it. I would understand If I read the whole text, maybe"
"The first law: Elementless law..." Jong Ji continued reading loud some of the words he found hard to understand.
Time quickly passed, and he was so immersed in the reading that he forgot about his hunger.
He read the text over and over again until he understood every word in the text.
He placed the bamboo scroll on the ground and rubbed his eyes. "Finally over!" He said as he stretched his body.
"Jong Ji." He heard his master calling from behind. "The food is ready. Come and eat."
After Jong Ji finished reading the text, hunger attacked him again, so his master was right on time.
He stood up happily and headed toward the other cave.
