Chapter twelve - She is only a student

2093 Words
Ethan's POV: I had my first lesson with Ashley. What a lesson. This girl is nothing compared to the students I had, and I'm not talking about her looks. She is an educated and passionate writer. I will do everything to help her. We are chasing the same goals. I'm happy that I found someone like me. This makes things easier. Also, we understand each other well. I still have to work on my eye contact with her. I know why she is avoiding this, but it won't work. I won't lie. I feel the same. She is my student. Nothing can happen. The thing is that I wish it could. I kept saying that everything at the party was fake. At least she believed it because I didn't. I wanted this to be real. That's why I should stop this and focus on our lessons. This is why we are together. I have to help her study, not stare at her. I will lie if I say that I haven't done it. She is cute when she blushes. I have noticed this, but I didn't tell her anything. It's enough that she doesn't feel comfortable with it. I can make things better, but it will cost me a lot. I'm not sure if I'm ready to do it. We can do many things as a mentor and a student. I would love to help her with the stories. As I see it, she loves writing as much as I do. I hope that I won't do anything to cross the line. The memory of the party was replaced with my first lesson with her. There was something about her that I can't describe. She is so passionate about her work. I will do anything to stay days and nights with her writing. All this helped with my novel. I managed to write more chapters. This girl is my inspiration. I had to admit it. She is so good at everything. I'm glad that I have to work with such a person. It's like everything I ever wanted. I don't know what else to say about her. All the words won't be enough. Currently, I have a class. We had to submit our assignments. I pulled out one of my books when I saw another note. It was the same handwriting. Chloe looked at me with a smile. She is the only one who knows about this. I don't even know who they are from. I was thinking much about Ashley to notice this. I almost forgot about the first one before this one popped out. It can't be anyone from my class. They talk with me directly. My curiosity is back. I will find out who she is. - What does it say this time? - Chloe asked, whispering - Read it. - When he looked at her, he said she was the prettiest thing he had ever seen. She told him it was not possible. Have you seen yourself in the mirror? I believe you are the prettiest thing I have ever seen. - The book is called "Do You Believe in Love". - She is in love with you. - Don't tell. - Any suspicions? - No. I have no clue who this can be, but I like the references. - Will you read this book? - No, I don't have time. Ashley and I have to study. - How are the lessons with her? - Great. So far, she is the best student I have ever had. - For real. - I think I forgot to tell you something. - Which is? - Remember the party thing. - Yes, why? - This was Ashley. - What? You kissed your student. - She wasn't my student back then. I didn't even know her name. - What will you do now? You can't let anything happen. - I know, but it's not that easy. - Don't tell me that you fell for her that quickly. - I think I did. - You are kidding me. How? - She is the same person as me. I mean, we have the same goals. - I understand, but be careful. - I'm graduating this year. - Why does everyone need to know what happened? - I don't know what to do. - Was she the inspiration behind the last story? - Is it that visible? - I can tell you had some influence. - Then yes. It turned out she had been following me for over a year. - Really? - Yes. She follows me on one of the websites where I post my series. - So far, she looks like your ideal girlfriend. - I have to forget about this. - But. - But I don't want to. I can talk about her for everything related to her career. - I'm happy you found someone so close. - I'll try my best to keep things professional. After this class, Chloe and I went for lunch. I invited Tyler, but he denied it. Lately, he hasn't been much in the mood. I don't know what is going on with him. My class with Ashley is in the afternoon. I won't let anything happen. No matter how much I want it. You have no idea how many things my brain invented with her. This should stop. The classroom we studied the last time was busy. We'll be in the hall today. Everyone will have classes. No one will disturb us. - Are you ready for today's lesson? - Yes, sir. I brought you another story. - Thanks. I'll read it at home and give you feedback. - I appreciate it. - I don't believe it. You can stop with the fake relationship. - Melanie, what are you doing here? - You don't need to lie. No one will believe you. - Will you go away? I have to study. - Yeah, right? I'm not that stupid. - No one said that you are. - You have three seconds to go away. Otherwise, I'll write a complaint against you. - I said - So what? You don't own this property. Nothing will happen. - Don't be so sure. I know some people around here. - I'm not scared of you. - But you should be. - I'll stay here. You can't do anything to throw me away. - I can, but I won't waste my time with you. I have better things to do. - I said and got up - Where are you going? - Ashley said - Home, and you are coming with me. - What? Why? - Because teachers don't like being interrupted with nonsense. Can we go now? - Sure. - If I see you around her, you will get in trouble. - The fake scenario won't work on me. - I never said it was fake. Let's go, Ashley. - Yes, sir. - Please, don't call me like that. - I said, chuckling - I'm sorry. Ashley and I went home. I didn't plan to invite her here, but her ex-best friend won't leave us alone. I know why she is doing it. The good news is that she doesn't know where I live. Hopefully, she hasn't followed us. I don't know what her problem is. We didn't do anything to her. I won't think about this. We went there, and I let her in. Ashley might be uncomfortable, but she will get used to this. I can make this our study place. It's quiet, and no one will bother us. I'm sure she can agree with me on this. - Welcome to my place. - It's nice. I like how you have decorated it. I can see books everywhere. - They are part of my everyday life. I put a few small shelves to remind me why I work so much. - You mean like a reminder. That's nice. - We can study at the kitchen table if you want. - Wherever you say. It's your house. - This is my best table. I have a coffee table in the living room, but it's shorter and smaller. - I don't mind where we are. - In that case, you can sit here. Do you like cookies? - Who doesn't like them? - Someone doesn't. I'm asking because this is the only thing I can offer you now. - I don't want anything, but thanks. - If you want something, you can tell me. - You can bring me a glass of water. - Sure thing. Do you want anything else? - I would like to receive a tour of your bookshelves. - You will have that, for sure. Let's finish with our lessons first. - You told me to bring you more of my work. - I did, yes. - This is everything I had recently. In addition to what I gave you. - You are taking this seriously. - I'm trying. You probably won't like it, but this is my first-ever short story. I was eight. - You wrote all this at eight! - Yes, why? - Because three pages for an eight-year-old is a lot. - Well, I had fun. Now I sit and laugh because it's stupid. - I'm sure it's not. - When you read it, you will understand. Teaching her is so easy. She understands everything I tell straight away. I have to remind myself that she is only a student. I can't do anything with her. We might be at my apartment, but it doesn't mean I'll go for it. Even if I want it, I can't let this happen. We studied for an hour. I can always go more, but I'm not sure about her. I don't want to pressure anyone. I gave her the promised bookshelf tour. Most of the books I keep in my room. Well, I want to keep some around the apartment. - Can I tell you a secret? - she asked - Sure. - You are living my dream. - What? - I want to live in such a small place. It will be only for me. - Don't you want to live with someone? You know. - Maybe, but it won't be soon. I want to enjoy my living-alone life. - It might get boring after some time. - Not for me. I like the picture on the wall. - I found it at one store. I thought it fitted the decoration. - It does, for sure. You have a good sense of interior design. - Thanks. It's the first time someone has told me this. - Because everyone else was blind. - she said, and I laughed - Sure. What will you do now? - I thought we could study a bit more. Well, if you don't mind. - Do you want to study, or to stay with me? - Fine. I'll go back to my dorm. - No, no. You can stay. I'll study with you. - Do you have time? - You can help me finish my next short story. - Really? But how? - You already did a pretty good job. - But I didn't do anything. - This is what you think. You have done a lot more. - If you say so. I would love to help. - Here is what I have written so far. - I said, showing her my laptop - That's good. What do you want to develop? - I'll let you decide. What I want is for you to finish it. - What? You won't publish this, will you? - If I like it, I will. - No. People can't read that. They will unfollow you. - Why do you think so low of yourself? Your work is good. I have told you that. She didn't say anything. We have to work on that. She is not a bad writer. It's even the opposite. I believe it when she said she has no one to support her. That is sad. Ashley thinks her work is terrible because no one told her the opposite. I did, but I don't think she believes me. It will take her some time. I'm sure I can shape her into the best version of herself. The question is how to do it. I'm sure she won't trust me for everything. I will find a way to talk with her about this. Her talent shouldn't get wasted. She is good enough. I hope that I will manage to show this to her.
