Chapter seven - Hot lecture

2087 Words
Ashley's POV: I still haven't found a way to give him the note. I don't know if we'll see each other again. I'm sure he doesn't care about me. We never even talked properly. That fault for that is mine. He won't be interested in me. I wish I could say the same about myself. He is one good-looking guy. Maybe I should replace good with hot. I have read many books. It was all fiction. This boy is real. I don't need to touch him to find out. Well, I won't deny it. You have no idea what I have dreamed about. In my defense, I have never seen someone looking like this. I wonder how his parents look. I'm sure he took the looks from them. I should stop making illusions. Nothing will happen. I can barely make a whole sentence. I have seen him from afar, but that was. Luckily, he didn't see me. That's why I believe I have been staring at him. Sadly, I'm not the only one. I have seen looks from other first-graders. Also, he probably has a girlfriend. A boy like him can't be single. I'll be surprised if he is. I should focus on my classes. I have to say he helped me with my short story. I won't publish it, but it keeps me busy. One day, this might be my income. I won't have high hopes. Many things can happen. He is one of them. I made a mistake meeting him. Now, he won't go off my mind. I hope I won't make myself like a fool with him. For the past week, I saw him three times. I don't know if this is a coincidence. No matter who tries to set me up, it won't work. I can't make myself say more than three words. I still can't understand how he got my attention so quickly. The boy I liked in high school, Justin, is nothing compared to him. Also, I believe he is more mature. Ashley, stop it! He is not for you. Is it that bad I want him for myself? Probably, yes. My first week of classes was great. I love them. Currently, I'm getting ready for one. Unlike some girls, I know where I am. I swear, they dress for a fashion show. I put only lip gloss on with my outfit. I brushed my hair and walked out. I went to the classroom and sat next to Emma. She is my only friend for now. Soon, the teacher came in with someone else. You have to be kidding me. What is he doing here? This won't end well for me. How am I supposed to focus on the class? This will be a fun one. - Hello, class. Today, I have invited one of my students to take over. He has experience in writing and can give you some tips. - Hello, everyone. I'm here temporarily. For this class, I decided to discuss a story with you. I'll pass it on to everyone, and you can read it. - Did you write this? - No, I found it online. I prefer it if we talk about someone who we don't know. - Ashley, are you ok? Ashley? Wake up? - What? - Where is your head? - Emma asked - I'm sorry. I was thinking about something. What are we doing? - I asked her, whispering - We'll discuss the story on the paper. - This one? - Yes, why? Have you read it? - At least ten times. - Since you have read it, you can tell me what you think about this. - the boy said - About the story or the way it's written? - Both. - Many topics can be discussed in such a short story. The teacher tried to pull out the most important thing for his students. It's not about the story he told them. He wants them to realize the problems in the society. It's relevant to what is happening today. So, about the writing. The descriptions seem simple, but you can see the high level of writing. The teacher described it by comparing multiple objects. There is also a comparison between the students and an open book. I can discuss every sentence, but we won't have time for this. - You are right. There is a meaning behind every sentence. Ok, thank you. Someone else? You can read the story and tell me what you think. Did you find any problems that are relatable today? - The key is in the teacher's words, and the whole point and moral of the story are in what he said. The lesson is masked behind his explanation. Many people can't understand what he is trying to say. They think about it literally without putting other meanings. - Correct. Is this your favorite short story? - No, but it's one of the best I have ever read. You might think that I have calmed down around him. That is not true at all. The reason how I said all this is because I never looked at him. When he continued talking, I noticed the book on his desk. It's perfect. I'll put my note there. First, I'll make sure it's his. I don't want someone else to find it. At the end of the class, I walked up to him. Don't look at him, Ashley. He can't find out about my secret. The problem is that I don't have a question. I'll shoot my shot. - Excuse me? - Yes. - Can I ask you something? - I asked with my head down, holding the note in my hand - Sure. - Where did you find this story? - It was on one website. Why? - I thought I was the only one who reads such things. - You will be surprised how many people are like you. - Is this your book? - I asked, pretending to be interested - Yes. I need it for one class. - What is the story about? - Two people who have to learn to work together. I don't know if you will like it. You can take it if you want. - Thanks. It looks interesting. - It is for me. - he said and started putting his things in the backpack - I have to go to my next class. - I said and left after I put the note inside - Girl, you are terrible, but at least you did it. - Emma said - Don't say anything. Please. - You can't talk with people with your head down. - What else am I supposed to do? If I look at him, I won't say anything. - Hopefully, he will find the note. - I believe he will. The problem is that I have no idea what to do next. - Talking is an option. - This will be a failure, but I got something better. - Oh, no. - Let's go for coffee. Emma and I went to the coffee shop. I can't talk with him face to face. This doesn't mean I can't do it through notes. I'll pick up lines from my favorite books that correspond to him. This guy is the definition of perfection. It's not like I know something about him. He probably said his name at the beginning of the lecture, but I was too busy to stare at him. Blame me if you want, but he is hot. That's why I don't have any chances with him. Also, I'm probably not the only one in the line. - What is the plan? I don't think you will talk with him. - Emma said - I will, but not face to face. - I don't understand. - Since I can't talk with him the ordinary way, I'll do it with notes. - Explain, please. - she said, chuckling - I will find things from my favorite books that correspond to him. I mean, true things. - What was in the first note anyway? - Take this and open page fifty-six. - Now I see. It's a perfect description. - Right? It's like he came out of this book. - You are crazy, but the idea is creative. - See? Nothing else left me. - Do you think he will understand the meaning? - I hope so. He looks like a smart guy. - What a definition. - What else am I supposed to say? - You can say it now because he is buying food over there. - she said, and I looked up - Sh*t! Do you think he heard us? - I doubt it. He has headphones. - Thank god. - Boys don't bite, Ashley. - But boys have standards, Emma. Also, I'm sure he has a girlfriend who already put a label on him saying don't touch. - You are dramatic. Do you want me to ask him? - No. Sit back down! - I said, and she laughed - This will be fun to watch. - Look who is here. It's nice to see you again, best friend. When I looked up, I froze in place. What is she doing here? How is she here? He came as well. This day can't get worse. I looked around, but the hot guy was gone. Maybe that is better. I didn't say anything and walked out. I don't want to talk with her. She is my worst nightmare. I don't know why she is here, but I'm glad we don't have the same classes. I was going to my dorm when I saw my brother. He is still in town. I don't know for how long he will be here. Honestly, I don't want to see him right now. - Where are you going? - To my dorm, why? - Can I come? I'm here for you. - Look, I. - Bryan. It's nice to see you. - Hey, Melanie. How are you? - I'm good. Right, best friend. - Leave me alone. - Why? Is there a problem between you two? - my brother asked - You didn't tell him. How sweet. - Tell me what? - Don't you dare. I'll kill you if you do this. - I said - Over there is my boyfriend. He is the guy I stole from her. - Why would you do that? - Do you think I wanted to be her best friend? Look at her. I will die than be seen with her. - Ashley? - Leave me alone. - I said and ran away to my dorm - You won't run away from me. - he said as I walked in - Go away! - Why didn't you tell me? God's sake, I'm your brother. - This is why I didn't tell you. - I don't understand. - You were so happy that I was close to someone that I couldn't tell you the truth. - When did it fall apart? - Last year. - Ashley! You hid this from me for a whole year! - I'm sorry. I didn't want to upset you. - What happened? You better tell me the truth. - Her boyfriend was the guy I liked. She asked him out before me. Later, I found out he was a d*ck. I don't even know why I liked him. That was my biggest mistake. - To understand that you two don't talk anymore. - No. I had no idea she was here. I bet she won't leave me in peace. - But you have new friends. Right? - For now, only one. Emma. - It's a good start. Forget about the past and move on. - Are you mad at me? - No. My brother is the sweetest human being ever. He has a soft heart and can't kill even a bug. He liked a girl in high school, but she rejected him and called him a stupid nerd. Now, he is in a healthy relationship with Kylie. I'm glad that she is different and treats him right. I thought I had moved on, but she is here. Maybe it's another obstacle I have to remove. It won't be easy. I used to tell her everything, and now we don't even talk to each other. I want to blame only her. Well, I might have done something. No one is perfect. I hope she won't find out I have my eyes on someone.
