Ethan's POV:
The class with the first-graders went well. One of the students impressed and surprised me. I didn't expect someone to have read the story. I picked a non-popular one for a reason. There was something else. The way she was talking says a lot. I bet she has read many books. The other thing is that she knows what to say and how to say it. I don't know if she did it to impress me or if this is how she talks. It doesn't matter. I won't teach a class again. I have spoken with my teacher about that. Let's say that I have other work to do. The whole teacher thing gave me an idea for the novel. I have no idea if it's because of the girl, but whenever she is around, I get ideas for my work. It was supposed to be about me, but maybe I can include her. After all, my character needs to be around girls. Next week is the opening party for the first-graders. I have to go and keep Tyler's brother safe. I always keep my promises. This might help me with the next chapter. Of course, I keep writing my short stories. At least they are complete. Writing a novel is difficult, but I won't give up. I still believe it will be successful. I need more events to finish it. Since it's related to me, I'll wait to see if something can happen. Everything will be written down in order. I hope that I will finish positively without much struggle.
I am shocked. The short love story I made blew up. I had over half a million reads on all the websites where I posted it. This is my second most-read story. I never thought I would have another one. I might make a book with all my stories combined. For now, I have around fifty. Each one is not more than three pages long. That's why it's called a short story. I'm still thinking about this novel. I want my character to develop, but this means I have to go through something. This might take some time.
Currently, I'm in class. I keep checking the websites. I can't process how this story went viral. It's written the same way as the others. Usually, I get from fifty to one hundred thousand views on all my websites. I left my phone and looked at the teacher. It won't be that easy to concentrate. My mind is thinking about the next one. I have some ideas. Well, I don't know which one I will use. It's good to have options. At the end of the class, the teacher looked at me. He has read everything I have posted. I'm glad that he likes it.
- I have read the stories you sent me in the email. Everyone is getting better. Tyler, I'm glad you listened to me. You can try to expand the story. Maybe you can publish it. I'm sure someone will read it.
- Thanks. It's the first good thing you said to me this year. - he said, chuckling
- Work harder, and I'll say it more often.
- Why don't we discuss Ethan's work? He is the only one here who is taking this seriously.
- That is not true. Every student is taking this seriously. Maybe that is except for you.
- Rude much.
- Ethan, the last story is great. Even my boyfriend liked it, and he doesn't read such things. - Amelia said
- Thanks. I'm trying to write something different.
- You are good. I think you should make a book.
- That takes a lot of work. I don't have the time.
- She is right. You have talent. Please, don't waste it.
- Can I decide what I want to do with my work? - I asked
- Sure. James, I see you listened to me as well. You did a great job. The story is good. I'll find a place where all of you can publish your work. I'm sure many people will read it.
- Do you think all of us can succeed? - Chloe asked
- Yes, why not?
- Because I still feel like I'm missing something.
- You are. It's called trust. You need to trust yourself more.
- I agree here. Your stories are good. - I said
- I don't feel like they are good enough.
- Good enough for what? Everyone has a different style of writing. This is what makes each writer different from the rest.
- I know, but I don't think it's that good.
- You should learn how to appreciate yourself more. Love yourself and your work. - the teacher said
- This will take me some time.
- We can help you. Here's what we'll do. In the next class, everyone will share what they are working on. That way, we can help each other. Is that ok?
- Yes.
We will continue discussing more stories. This is what we do in these classes. For the next class, I'll share only my short stories. I haven't decided what I'll do with the novel. When we finished, Chloe and I went to the coffee shop. I want to eat something. The other thing is that I have to study. We got our food and sat on the table. I pulled out the book I was reading. The moment I did that, something fell from it. I believe it's not mine.
- What is this?
- Oh, I wrote some notes for the book.
- Ethan, you are a terrible liar.
- Fine. I have no clue what this is.
- Read it. I'm curious.
- It's a note. I believe it's from a girl.
- What does it say?
- It's a quote from a book. It says the name of the book and from which page it is.
- Will you finally read it?
- Alright. Listen to this. And there he was, sitting across from me. He was tall, muscular, and had a smile brighter than the sun. Dark hair, brown eyes. The clothes were like a fashion show. If I had to say a few words to describe him, I would've said he was screaming perfection. No one can compare with him.
- That is good. What's the name of the book?
- My first love was my destiny.
- I have never heard of this in my life.
- Me either, but I like the note.
- Do you know who wrote it?
- No idea. It doesn't say a name or initials.
- It's a girl.
- Don't tell. A boy won't write this to me. It's not from our class. I'm sure about this.
- We have been together since the beginning. Also, they don't look like shy girls.
- I will find out, but it won't be now. I better start studying.
- Will you focus?
- I'll try. I might start a new book. - I said, and she laughed
- Good luck.
I wonder why she chose this quote. I haven't read the book, but I believe it's a romance one. I should focus on my studies. Chloe and I stayed in the coffee shop for an hour. Later, I went to the university's library. Martha should know something about this book. I might not like it, but I'm curious about the quote. Also, this can help me with my novel. At least I have another chapter. The boy will receive a note from a mysterious girl.
- Hey, Martha.
- Hello, Ethan. How can I help you today?
- I want to know if you have one book. I know you mostly have textbooks, but you might have this one.
- Tell me the name, and I'll check in the system.
- My first love was my destiny.
- Since when have you read such books?
- It's not for me. The story is long. Do you have it?
- Yes, I do.
- Really? Can you check when was the last time someone took it?
- Give me a moment. It was five months ago.
- After that?
- No one. The girl was Sandra Allyson. She is in third grade. Marketing.
- Thanks. Can I borrow it?
- Sure, but I have to write it in the system.
- Do you have to do it?
- I'm sorry. Rules are rules.
- Can you at least don't tell anyone about this?
- Why? It's not wrong to read such books.
- Yes, but I have to read it. I don't want to do it.
- Why?
- Because I have to find out something. Anyway. Thank you for the help.
- You're welcome. How is your work? The last story was great.
- Thanks. I'm trying to write more.
- Maybe the book can help you.
- I'm not a fan of this type, but I might make the sacrifice.
- You might end up liking them.
- Please, no. I already have a style of writing.
- A change might be needed.
- I have to go. See you soon.
- Bye, Ethan.
The description of the book is good. It's about a boy and a girl who start going out. He is everything she has dreamed about but doesn't dare to tell him. After a few events, everything will go in its place. I went home and started reading. It's not a bad book. I won't say it's my style, but I like it. I stopped at the part with the description from my note. With this description, he looks like me. I was about to make dinner, but Tyler called me. He wanted us to go out for dinner. At least I won't be alone.
- Hello. How is my writer?
- Good. I did some work today.
- Can I know what you are working on? Is it another short story?
- For now, yes. I was thinking about a longer one or a novel, but I don't have that many ideas.
- Why don't you look around the university? Something might inspire you.
- Like what? Nothing happens there.
- That is not true. You can talk with people about things that happen in their lives. This will give you ideas.
- I don't want to write about people. They might not be comfortable talking about it.
- Think about yourself.
- I do. This is why I said it. I will find my muse somewhere else.
- Why do I think something else has happened?
- I don't know. I didn't do anything.
- How was the class with the first-graders? You didn't tell me much.
- It was good. One girl has read the story I prepared.
- Was it yours?
- No. I won't do that. Honestly, she was the only active student in my class. I can't believe she is a first-grader.
- Why?
- How she was talking and defending her opinions made her look like a third-grader.
- Really? Was she that good?
- Yes. This girl is good. I can tell she has read many books. It's not only that. She knows what words to use to make it sound more professional. I learned that in the second year.
- Some people are gifted.
- True.
- To understand that she was the only one who paid attention.
- No, but mostly, she was talking.
- At least you weren't talking to yourself. - he said, chuckling
- That wouldn't been terrible. I don't think there was much interest.
- A fourth-grader teaching you. What do you expect?
- You have a point here, my friend.
The class wasn't so bad, but I have other things in my head. I want to know who gave me this note and why. They like me, that is for sure. I don't mind talking with girls, but maybe she does. I should find a way how to do it. I can't check every handwriting at university. This will be suspicious. I don't even know why I care so much. Let's say that it woke up my interest. I won't tell anyone else about this. Tyler will start with his assumptions. I know Chloe won't talk about this with anyone. I will find you, mysterious girl. You won't escape. I hope that it's not a game or a prank.
