An Attack on the Sunlight pack

1479 Words
Trigger warning; A battle scene. I kept the descriptions to a minimum.  Sam I wake up and I see Jewel in my bed. What the? I should ask questions, but I don't I cuddle up to her. "Good morning!" she says happily. "Good morning," I say groggily.  She turns towards me. Her hair is messy from sleep. She looks adorable. I run a finger over her cheekbone. She leans into my touch and smiles. I can't stand it, I close the distance between us and kiss her.  As soon as I do, I wake up. In my bed alone. Of course, It was just a dream.  I run my fingers through my hair and get up to shower. A cold one.  I go down to my office and I can smell that Jewel is already working. She's on my computer analyzing our profits for the last quarter.  "Good morning, Alpha," she says without looking at me.  "Good morning, Beta," I say back. She gets up and moves to the chair on the other side of my desk.  "How are the numbers?" I ask. "Not too bad. We're down a bit, but nothing extreme," she says. That's normal, our numbers fluctuate from now and again.  I mind link the pack cook to bring some breakfast in for us. It would be better if we finish this before our meeting with a potential ally starts. Jewel It's strange working with Sam now that we have the mate bond between us. It is like I am hyper-aware of him. I already knew that he was handsome. I'm not blind. He is the opposite of me. With light hair and golden-brown eyes. It's the ole opposites attract. I've never noticed how well built he is though.  Oh Goddess, am I really checking out his muscles? What am I doing? I shake my head and sigh. I go back to looking at the maps of our land. We have a lot of lands not being utilized. I'm trying to figure out how we're going to expand. Either we expanding living or training or maybe both. Just then, Sam's Omega Liam basically yells through the mind link. "Alpha, Beta, the Sunlight pack is under attack. Their leaders have already been killed and most of their warriors. If we don't get there soon, their woman and children will be attacked.".  Sam and I don't even think about it. We both run out the door and shift quickly, not even thinking about our clothes. Sam is mind linking his parents to have them move all of our elderly and children into the safe houses. Half of the able body warriors are staying here and half are coming with us. I look to my right to see a large White wolf and a large Black wolf. I immediately recognize them as Amber and Eric.  We're all faster than the other wolves. So we get there first. It's bloody and not good. A large rogue attack. We start killing based on smell. The four of us working together. Our warriors start arriving and we finish the last rogue wolf off. Keeping him alive for questioning.  The only one left of their leadership is the Omega and his mate. The Alpha, Luna, the Beta's, and the Deltas were all killed. It's like they did this on purpose, to take over the pack. But why the Sunlight pack? They're a peaceful pack. They're farmers and modern flower children. We get most of our produce from them. Maybe they thought that they would be easy prey, but they didn't expect them to have us as allies. One of our warriors comes over with a bag of clothes. We all shift behind trees and change.  The Omega calls the others from their safe houses. Eric, Amber, and I start helping with the children. We decide to house everyone at our lodge. Most of the guests from the party left early this morning. It's open and large enough to fit everyone.  Their pack cook was killed too. I mind link ours to let him know that the portions for lunch and dinner need to include two hundred more pack members.  Sam  They killed all of their leadership. Even the pregnant Luna. Eric, Liam, and I stay behind to burying their dead. There are too many to transport to the national grave, so we decided to bury them in the back of their land.  My warriors come over and help with the cleanup. We don't finish till the sun goes down. We head back hungry and exhausted. I walk into a packed dining room. It's borderline chaos, but my pack is handling it well.  My mother, father, Jewel, and Amber are all helping pass out food and are helping get everyone settled. I start to help and Amber suggests that we clean up first. We all shower and head to my office. Jewel wheels in a cart with chili and all of the toppings. Jewel smiles and heads back to help. I eat my food too quicker than I probably should and head out to help my mate. I find Jewel serving a table full of children.  I quickly grab a pitcher of water and start filling cups. Jewel quickly mind links me. "These children lost their parents. Or at least they're unaccounted for." Oh Goddess, there are at least fifty young kids here.  A young girl no older than five pulls on my sleeve. "Mr. Alpha, I can't find my parents.". Oh no. How I tell this little girl that her parents are gone. Jewel mind links me. "Her name is Lizzy, her parents were one of the Delta's.". I sit down on the floor next to the table that she is sitting at. "Did my parents go to be with the Moon Goddess?" she asks. "Yes, Lizzy they did." She sits herself on my lap and starts crying. I've comforted my sister before when she was sad. This is similar, but with a tiny pup. I gently pat her back and let her cry. "The pack cook made lots of extra desserts. She's probably in shock. Encourage her to eat something sweet." says Jewel "That's a good idea, thank you," I say back. I let her finish her crying and I pick her up and head to the dessert table. There are cakes, cookies, pastries, brownies, and a small freezer to the side with icecream.  "Lizzy, would you like dessert?" I ask her. She currently has her little head buried in my neck. So she can't see the table. "What kind of dessert?" she asks. "Look and see," I say to her. She turns her head and sees the table. Her cute little face makes an O as she sees this huge table of dessert. "Can I have a brownie sundae?" she asks now excited. "Yes, just tell me what you want on it and I'll make it for you."   Jewel Oh dear Moon Goddess, Sam does not know what seeing him with all of these pups is doing to my insides. "Imagine how good he would be with our pups," says my wolf Shay dreamily. I sigh. She's not wrong.  Most Alpha's are too intimidating for pups to approach, but Sam is so quiet and calm. These kids are glued to his side. After dinner, he helped them each get dessert and set up a movie room for them. He had them vote on a movie and now they're all glued to some Disney movie.  Amber and I have taken count of them. All of their genders and ages. We have set up several of the large suites in the lodge with any air mattress or sleeping bag that we could find. It will have to due for the night.  The rest of the adults fit within the lodge just fine.  Sam goes to leave the room, but the little one from earlier Lizzy, asks him to come to sit with her. He obliges and she ends up falling asleep on his lap.  Oh, my dear ovaries can't handle this.  After the movie Amber, Eric, Sam, and I get all of the pups tucked into bed. Some of the adults from the packs are sleeping in each of these rooms to make sure that they're okay. We go to leave. Amber and Eric head to their cabin and I start walking towards mine.  Sam of course escorts me. No surprise there.  He goes to drop me off at my door and I get an idea.  I stand on my tippy toes and kiss his cheek. "You did great today alpha. Good night." I say before going inside my cabin and closing the door. The last thing that I see, before I close the door, is the look of shock on his face.  I hear him say "Good Night Jewel." before he leaves.
