Chapter TwelveThe sun seemed to take forever to go down. Zero and Maddie got the car loaded up while Raven paced inside the room. There was a sense of urgency driving them and Zero couldn't shake the nervous energy. The sleep had helped her control, at least to a degree, but the dreams had done nothing to calm her nerves. She scanned the area around them for maybe the fourteenth time in as many minutes, freezing as a convoy entered the perimeter of her awareness. She grabbed Maddie's hand, put a finger to her mouth. Very carefully, she laid a glamor over them, over the motel to hide any suggestion that anyone was inhabiting the dilapidated building.
