Chapter TwentyThey weren't far from the rendezvous when Alaric spotted a dot in the sky moving toward them. He watched it get larger, recognizing Evan's bird form as it approached. Alaric slowed the truck and opened the passenger window. His trajectory looked shaky, so Alaric slowed a little more. Evan wobbled and missed his first attempt. Alaric could feel the exhaustion rolling off of him and slowed a little more. Evan all but fell through the window, landing on the seat with a squawk and sliding on the vinyl until his talons found purchase.
