Chapter Twenty-Three“I'm not planning to run off halfcocked.” Alaric said. “Not this time. It's going to take all of us.” “Unite the tribes?” Sahara asked, her hand on Bryan's shoulder. Alaric nodded, his eyes skimming the ragtag group settling around him. “I think I know what it means.” He took a deep breath and held it for a moment before exhaling and standing up, raising his hands to draw the attention of the room. “I think it's safe to say that a year ago none of us would have guessed we'd be here like this. Even when the trouble started. But here we are. And we need to decide what we're going to do.” Maddie and Zero sat on the floor, looking younger than he knew them to be. They were still kids, and he was about to ask them to go to war. Behind them on the sofa was Raven and Evan.
