Chapter Twenty-EightThere was a sudden cacophony of people screaming and Zero got a strong surge of Sahara as she shifted and stalked toward the stage. Mason and Raven were ushering people out of the area and Bryan was working with Alaric to set up wards to protect those that couldn't get out.
“I see you.” Her father's voice filled her head and she reached for Maddie to steady herself. They were counting on his rage at her to override his reason. “Did you think I didn't know you were coming?
“I see you too, Daddy. Been waiting to see you again.” She sent out another blast of energy, which he deflected easily.
His laugh was haughty. “I am going to teach you a lesson.”
“I've learned a few things since you saw me last. I'm not going to be easy to beat this time.” Maddie growled beside her
