Pretty Accurate Guesses

1259 Words
Helen's POV We were usually allowed out of school when they were sure that there was no strangers loitering around. Thankfully there was no suspicious person loitering around so I was able to go out without having any problem. Damon's work studio was not far so I walked there. His studio was on the top floor on the plaza. "Hi Helen, it's been a while since you came here, Damon is working now, you can wait for him in his office" the receptionist said as I entered the building. I went straight into his office, he had two offices he didn't receive people here, this was mostly for his editing and other stuff. So I knew no one was going to come in and interrupt me. I made myself comfortable as I took cookies from the cookie jar. Gosh I should be watching my weight. I will ve doing a lot of photoshoot but I do not care, ok maybe I care just a little, I'll just eat three pieces instead of four. That is a lot of sacrifice but what choice do I have ? Anne would freak out if she ever sees a little tummy forming down here. I picked up a random magazine and I was admiring the clothes on it. Maybe I should get that shorts. It would look good on me. Not long after I heard the door opening , I did not bother to look up cause I knew it would be Damon "I have found a new secret that is quite scandalous" I said as soon as I heard the door open. " Scandalous secret" the voice asked amused and only one thing rang in That wasn't Damon's Voice. Who could it be?. I looked up, before I could even come up with anything to say Damon walked in. I sighed in relief. He looked at Asher and then his gaze flickered back to me. "Asher" he greeted not sounding particularly surprised to see him. I guess they were used to seeing each other.  He looked at me once more before turning to face Asher, "What can I help you with," he asked in a low tone. Almost as if he did not want me to hear. Too bad all my concentration was on their conversation. Just like Damon, Asher's Eyes flickered to me first before be proceeded to continue talking. He brought out a brown envelope and handed it over to Damon. "Anne asked that I drop anything I find here while she was away" he replied. The envelope looked plain, no design or print on it, it was definitely not for work. Anne always requested that the envelopes got stamped before they were delivered to her. Damon collected the file and dropped it on the table close to the door. "Let me walk you out" he said as he looked at me once more and back to Asher. He steered Asher out and I dropped the Magazine, should I check what was in it or should I mind my business. My curiosity got the best of me. I tiptoed to the door, I heard hushed voices talking in a distance, it was was probably Damon and Asher. I guess he did not want me to here their conversation. I was about to pick up the files when I hear foot steps approaching. I quickly ran back to the seat and opened the Cookie Jar,and that was exactly what I was doing as he walked into the room. "You eat up my cookies all the time" he complained as he walked in "At least I am not taking your money" I retorted "Smart" "So what was Asher Karl doing in your office" I asked trying to sound amused as I spun around in his chair. "You know him?" He asked trying to avoid my question. I nodded before I replied, "he attends my school" This caused Damon to raise a brow at me. I usually told him secrets from school but I never told him their names or any other information about them. "So do you have any secret on him" he asked sounding amused. I told Damon about the little things I observed about the people at school,  since he was the one that thought me how to know more about people through observing their reactions and body language. I shook my head. I did not know much about the Royalty except what people said about them. They were very good at hiding things. They were a very private group, even though they were almost always the center of attention and even attraction in school. Nothing about them ever slipped out, well except of course they wanted it to. I quickly changed back the topic before Damon had distracted me. "When he said Anne, did he refer to my mum Anne?" I asked out of curiosity "Nothing serious Lenna, it is just work stuff " he said calmly. The problem with Damon teaching me about body language was that he had already mastered his and it was difficult to determine if he was lieing or saying the truth. I did not want to give myself unnecessary headache, so I decided to brush it off. "Anne wanted me to do a shoot" I informed him of my reason for eating his cookies " yes about that, it won't be possible today, I checked some of the clothes and they need to be fitted to your size. But when it is ready I will tell Anne" he informed me "You have no idea how relieved I feel" I said with a grin plastered on my face. "You should get prepared though, Anne has a series of shoot prepared for you" he said trying to kill my joy "When the time comes the displeased feeling will be dealt with for now I am satisfied" I said with a smile and he simply smiled back. "I found another scandalous secret " I said happily as I let the previous conversation end. "You know I did not teach you so you could invade everyone's privacy at your school" he replied with a frown. He had taught me because when I came to live with Anne and Bruce. I had no idea how to cope with their high profile lifestyle. They were not crazy public or anything compared to the other families at Elite Academy but it was more eyes than I was used to. Damon had worked with Anne and Bruce to teach me  watch people and know what to say and how to get out of weird situations without offending anyone... "They are just guesses" I said with a slight shrug and an innocent expression "Pretty accurate ones" he interrupted. It was not a compliment but I smiled anyway. "It's not like I will tell anybody" I quickly defended. I didn't have any friends well except for the one that forced our friendship. I was only their in the school for the teachers and the knowledge they had to offer. It got pretty lonely sometimes but what could I do. I had to keep my guards up, I did not want to be involved in any scandal or drama. It was all too much and I did not want to deal with that. Damon often said I was like Bruce, I did not trust easily. Which was true. Especially with the people here at the Elite Academy. They would not blink twice before they stabbed you in the back. I mean people who did not want to hurt you could do so easily. It would be so much more severe if someone who wanted to hurt you did. Teaser for the next chapter "I'm looking for Helen" he said quietly almost as though he did not want to interrupt the class.
